Anyone out there willing to give me some sample girl diet menus for their DH? I need some ideas. DH is down for this, as he only wants 3 kids...
i have been just trying to cook more chicken and not adding salt to anything. i add a ton of butter and sour cream to a lot of his stuff and give him a big glass of milk when i can. dh isn't really willingly doing the diet lol so i just do what i can when i can.
Yes I havent been too hard on my DH about the diet, but he has been taking the supplements, drinking more milk and I haven been salting his food! I try to make him things that are low in sodium, which is hard so I limit him on some stuff! I have been making him chicken more instead of red meat and hes been eating the pasta and rice with me, I just make him some kind of cream sauce to go on it or low sodium beans; green beans, salad with little dressing, strawberry smoothies. Also have him eating low sodium bread. Ill make him grilled cheese with it for breakfast. Also got him caff free cokes, and water more during the day! So pretty much I just have him avoiding the No-no's!!
Whatever else you do, as low sodium as you can and NO RED MEAT. This is a great idea for a thread!
lol my dh is big on red meat also. he pretty much lived on red meat, potatoes, and beer
I'm going to sticky this for awhile so we can share our ideas.
well since i didn't make dinner last night dh came home at 12 from work and decided to eat corn dogs and fries. gerr.
Here is my idea:
Breakfast: Egg Beaters and a raspberry muffin with whole milk (don't want him to lose weight!)
Snack: Yoplait yogurt with Crystal Light
Lunch: Chunks of chicken in a low sodium sandwich/pita/wrap with sauce made of plain yogurt and Mrs. Dash chipotle seasoning; Yoplait Yogurt; Crystal Light
Snack: Strawberries with Equal; Crystal Light
Dinner: Chicken with either pasta (unsalted butter/parm. cheese) or rice and green beans; Crystal Light
Dessert: Ice cream
Pretty much my DH won't eat cucumbers, smoothies, or most anything else on the girl diet. He is also hoping to maintain weight or not gain TOO much, as he has already lost quite a bit of weight in order to be healthier (he was pretty much obese when we conceived both of our boys!). He is now just overweight.
Thoughts?
I've been giving DH Chicken and pasta almost every night (I'm sure he eats a multitude of sins at work) he hasn't complained yet infact he has been really good drinking his milk, taking his sups etc. We are only on week two... Role on another six weeks and im sure he will be moaning loads.
Hiya, does it matter if you choose a different diet for your OH than you are on? Obviously we will both avoid red meat and salt but OH is soo picky and loves his crisps, salty stuff and red meat!
He is also 6ft and eats alot and still moans he is hungry!
He also hates chicken, just cant see him participating too much - he would eat ice cream and cheese, doesnt like milk - only evaporated milk! But maybe could get him to have it mixed with strawberries and yoghurt as he loves yoghurts.
Hi chocolate and welcome! (chocolate is ALWAYS welcome in my world! :))
I personally believe that diet is much less important for DH than it is for us. They don't need to follow the diets so strictly because in nature, most of the time, the male makes the deposit and then flees the scene but it's the mother's environment that a child will be born into, so it's her environment that matters to which gender child has a better chance of survival.
Aside from that, one of my main rules of swaying is, "If Daddy ain't happy, nobody's happy!" A lot of us have really had struggles with our husbands and swaying to the point where some guys have even refused to TTC any more. I think that we need to always remember to make our husband's comfort and wishes at least something of a priority, if for no other reason than they always have "veto" power over another baby and if we push them too far, we may end up not getting our chance to sway at all!!
FWIW, I think for DH to avoid red meat is far and away the most important thing that he can do anyway.
PS - I had bought Yoplait light yogurt for myself and my husband started eating it and he really likes it. He says its not as sicky-sweet as reg. yogurt and he never knew until I told him it was sweetened with aspartame. Now he eats it all the time, if only he would have been so cooperative when I was swaying pink instead of blue haha.
The thing I noticed is that the cartons are almost identical, so I wonder if it would be possible to make a switcheroo if your husband likes yogurt but won't eat aspartame. He might not even notice the difference and then if he did notice, you could always play dumb and say you got it on accident! :p
Junk food can actually reduce men's sperm count, which we believe would sway pink. http://blog.sfgate.com/gurley/2011/1...-less-fertile/
Hiya, thanks for the reply, I think ill look at the diets and choose the easiest for my OH and ill do the ig one. OH would eat a lot of the stuff he likes, like yoghurt etc. But will really miss red meat. Will have a look at the diets amd see what will fit the best. OH is under a lot of pressure at work right now, sleep deprived and has red hair so need to de-stress him lol! What is the most important time frame for changing his sperm? Is it full on 6 weeks or put the best in from abstinance? When he was tested a few yrs back he had a high sperm count
Sperm takes 72 days to form and ANYTIME in there things can go awry and end up swaing pink.
