some vitex+SP stats for you

correct as of today, from the spreadsheet. Some food for thought!


vitex overall (everyone who tried it) - 55 sways: 50.91% success
saw palmetto overall (everyone who tried it) - 40 sways: 55.00% success
NO vitex (those who didn't take it at all) - 101 sways: 64.36% success
NO saw palmetto (those who didn't take it at all) - 116 sways: 62.21% success

vitex but not SP - 27 sways: 55.56% success
vitex and SP - 28 sways: 50.0% success
SP but not vitex- 12 sways: 66.67% success
neither vitex nor SP - 89 sways: 64.04%

although of course this could be coincidence that SP alone seems much better given the lower number of sways trying that

Ok I'm back.

The thing with V and SP and also pep tea, is that they can really screw with your cycle. Lots of people stop ovulating and/or it's delayed even with taking it only the first part of the cycle.

There are two groups of people who seem to get pg while on V and SP. There are the people who seem to be superfertile and just really aren't affected by much, and they are also the ones most likely to get pg right away. It may be that the V and SP just don't affect them much at all (or they're not on it and diet long enough). Remember, the blue sways are getting 75-80% success so going from 75-80% likely to have a boy, to 50% girls, is STILL an improvement and it may just be that some people are uberfertile and can just shake the V and SP off better than others can. Net result - people who are able to get pg quickly while taking V and SP may be a little more "set" for boys to begin with than people who aren't able to get pg while using them.

Some other people launch into these really strict sways and are taking V and SP. They don't get pg doing all that stuff and quite a few people were also dieting a lot more strictly than I would have liked. The combination of the two, end up stopping ovulation all together and then people ended up having to drop sway tactics and in some cases actually sway blue just to get pg at all (primarily in the form of adding attempts but also easing off diet and so on.)

Biologically, on paper, V and SP and to a lesser extent pep tea, ~should~ sway pink. I got a boy and a girl on Vitex, but I got 3 boys without vitex.

ARe they enough to be worth the trouble they cause?? I'm not sure. All along I have thought that if swaying is a real phenomenon we are tapping into, then it needs to be possible with diet/exercise/lifestyle/BD patterns, because THOSE are the things that people have had access to throughout time. Before a few years ago no one would ever have been taking these herbs regularly and so it has to be possible to sway effectively without them. But at the same time we have had a lifetime eating our boy friendly diets and some of us may just need a little more help aside from diet.

Looking forward to hearing peoples thoughts on this, just when I think I've got everything clear I'm confused again :shrug:

It is therefore good to see the statistics, but I am now confused by your words Atomic :( as my attempt is approaching I am so confused. This is definately my last shot, we are NOT going for 4...so confused :(

I'm going to include vitex still. Whenever I look at sways nearly identical to mine, the successful ones included vitex. I don't know if it will work for me, but I know I'll kick myself since I've seen in other sways that it works, don't use it, and my sway fails.

I am 100% sure the vitex swayed pink for me when I got Susannah.

I think it is worth taking them even if the success rate is only 50% because most if us have NO girls so 50 50 sounds good to me - I think Without it i am of 80 20 LOL.

Cauliflower I have 3 DS already , I'm now thinking diet and exercise the most important and may throw vitex in for first attempt next month .I never dreamed of having 4 but after being told Ds3 was going to be a girl and popping out a boy I've decided to give it one last go.

Probably not the right place to ask but is there any difference in Dh doing frequent release or abstain ? From what I'm reading it just needs to be 1 or the other . Dh is 32.

If dh is over 35 abstain isn't advised. I think both reduce sperm count. That's my understanding but could be wrong!! X

Very veeeeery interesting stats! Thank you so much rainbowflower for making this happen!!

I am pretty sure V + SP swayed pink in my case. My cycles were super long and wonky when I was taking them. Irregular cycles make your overall fertility decrease and I am one of those very fertile people who seem to have no trouble getting pregnant despite all the aci-jel + repHresh I used before BD. Gosh, makes me wonder if maybe we should leave V + SP for super fertile people like me but otherwise maybe not worry so much about it??

FWIW, if I were to do a sway all over again for a girl (which I may do in 2015) I think I would focus on doing 60+ minutes of cardio every day and doing the LE diet with a higher overall calorie intake to make up for the intense exercise, and probably leave V + SP out of it next time around.

every stat is like that though. maybe we all had a high chance of having our desired gender if only we hadn't swayed. :s We have numbers on here somewhere that show that after 2 and 3 and 4 boys it's something like 40-60 girls to boy ratio in the population as a whole, so I do not believe that many of us were "set" for girls after having 2-3-4 boys (for some reason this link will not post but it's called "statistics question anybody know"

I read this and it gives me some hope. However, what if my body is just 'set up' for making boys? All the things I read for swaying boy is how I've lived for years, so wouldn't my chances of having my 4th boy (without swaying) be like 90/10? I'm confused... and a little worried (me and hubby had whoops the other night and I haven't started my sway yet, convinced boy no4 is on his way) xxx

I was thinking abt this today, probably 90 % of the ladies who think their sway worked would have DG anyway (withought swaying). It is pretty much 50-50 in the first place ;)

I agree and I think that is prob. the case for many of us. We come in 80-90% likely to have boys and when I went into swyaing I felt like, if I could get to 50-50 I would take the flip of the coin at that point. Like I said, I did get a boy and a girl on Vitex, but got 3 boys without it.

Re the essay link I posted, that is the population as a whole and may not be true for any one individual. Some people may be 90% set for boys. Some may be 90% set for girls (even after having 3 boys - your settings can change, just look at the Duggars, 5 girls in a row after having 6 or 7 boys in a row.) Overall, it comes out to be 60-40 range BUT that does NOT mean taht you personally, your odds are then 60-40. They may be 90-10 or 10-90 or 50-50 or anything.

Well, I'm not sure about that but I agree with the sentiment.

I feel like in the 13 years between when I had DS 2 and DS 3, there was quite a run of time in there where I probably would have had girls if I had gotten pg. My bad luck that I didn't happen to get pg then, but I suspect if I had, I'd have gotten a girl and never even thought about any of this. So is it that I'm unchangeably SET for boys over a 20 year time span, I'm not convinced of that at all - I think I just happened to get pg during times in my life where I was "boying it up" and that may be true for all of us.

Carameline - I thought I was the "poster child" for boy mom and thought I barely had a snowball's chance of getting a girl even despite a strong sway, and my sway worked.

Even if your 90/10 stat without swaying were true (which I highly doubt) you'd still have a 10% chance of having a girl. Sways can (and do) work, even for people like me who I thought only made boys. Don't give up and hang in there, and let us know what we can do to help with your sway because that's why we're all here! :HH:

I am having trouble finding directions for when to take SP and Vitex, and how much. Anybody know where I should be looking or can you share the answer? I've been taking Vitex, and I swear it is helping me O regularly (I have PCOS) but I also have elevated testosterone and I am hoping the SP will help with that a bit.
