Question about DH sway attempt

My DH thinks all this sway stuff is totally crazy. It doesn't help that he is a doctor (cause they know everything right :wink:). He is nice enough to listen to me when I talk about what I want to do to sway. Other than that I don't know if I can get him to do anything. I might be able to persuade him into doing the simplest of things but I can guarantee that he will not do any drastic diet changing or underwear changing.

What he has agreed to so far is to hot bath/shower before DTD and abstaining for 14 days. What I am wanting to know is what are the most simple things that will give me the bang for my buck (so to speak)? Would it be for him to drink CL (I can probably get him to do that)? Maybe some supplements? If so which ones?

Any help from the women out there with stubborn husbands is appreciated!!:bigsmile:

Hopefully someone will help you out. I will be interested to see what is suggested for DH as mine won't do the diet. But I was thinking of getting him to do abstaining (probably only 10 days as apparently 14 days is not possible!), reducing coffee and I may be able to get him to take some supplements as long as they are not large as he hates taking pills and thinks he chokes trying to take panadol? I worry that I will go all out on a sway but I won't be successful because hubby won't do the diet at all? How much does hubby not doing the diet reduce your chances of a girl?

I have read some of the studies to him and because he is so scientific (and works at a teaching hospital) all he does is pick the studies apart and tell me why the study isn't valid. It is rather frustrating at times because I want to believe there is something that I can do to be able to up my odds of getting a girl. He is like this with everything though... if they didn't teach it to him in medical school than it clearly doesn't exist or work. I am really hoping to prove him wrong!! Also, I just asked him if he would drink CL and he said no because aspartame gives him headaches :hair:.

Abstaining for 14 days is the best things he can do anyway. And hot showers will only improve your pink sway.

It isn't worth it to try and prove swaying to someone who doesn't agree with it BUT I have been thinking of doing an essay that you guys can show to husbands and family members who are skeptical that show the evidence, because it is pretty substantial and it is widely accepted amongst scientists, that gender is not 50-50 shot and that the woman does control at least part of it. Even a famous scientist like Richard Dawkins believes that gender ratio in mammals varies.

I don't think it reduces your chances much at all. Here's why. Most mammals in nature, the males of the species show up to DTD and then quickly vacate the premises, so it is the dietary cues from the mother who matter more in terms of whether or not an offspring of a particular gender would be able to survive/thrive to adulthood. Boys need more calories and nutrients from the time of conception to all throughout life than girls, and even the smallest and sickliest females reproduce whereas only the biggest and strongest males do. So it makes no sense for the dad's diet to matter as much, because it doesn't matter if he's the best fed monkey in the tree, if the mother doesn't have enough food for her male offspring to grow up to be big and strong enough to compete for mates, then having a son will be a total genetic dead end for her.

Sperm count is what matters the most for guys. If you have a husband that's willing to abstain, jump for joy and don't worry one iota about any of the rest of it!

Any changes he makes are all gravy because it's what YOU do yourself that is the most important. You can absolutely, totally, certainly have a great sway with your husband not lifting a finger to help you in any way (other than just showing up!!)

If it's just luck than it won't matter either way what you do or don't do, so he should humor you!

He doesn't need to do the CL. Remember, 99.99% of all the females that have ever been born have been conceived without the wondrous benefits of aspartame!!!!!

Thanks AS. I would love to read anything that gives more evidence of the swaying. I too am a scientific geek and like the studies that are posted on here. I am just a little down and frustrated that my DH isn't as supportive as I would like. I guess I should look at the bright side... he is willing to have another baby so either way I am happy about that! Plus he is willing to abstain for 14 days which most husbands won't do so that is good too.

Wantingpink he sounds just like my hubby, he to is a dr who doesnt believe in swaying cos he never studied it at medical school!! Thanks for this post. Its good to know im not the only one with a stubborn DH.

Atomic as my DH is over 35 and also runs 30+ miles a wk so you think it is neccessary for him to take licorice root? Wouldnt want to lower his testostorone and sperm count to much. Do you think frequent bd is the best way to go? Thanks

Is the abstaining for 14 days because that lowers sperm count?

Yes, it is suppose to lower sperm count. I think that this is better than releasing everyday because the remaining sperm are going to be higher in concentration X sperm because in theory they can outlive the Y sperm.

I am so glad you posted that. My DH doesn't believe in anything he didn't hear in medical school which gets to be a little irritating. I keep thinking "Well, maybe they didn't teach you that in medical school because they were too busy teaching you about more important things about pregnancy like embryonic development and how to deliver a baby alive." Sorry but I am sure you can relate:) What supplements has your husband agreed to take? I asked mine to take Cal/Mg and cranberry and I got the "I can take all the supplements you want but I am going to just pee them out".

I swayed girl when i conceived my daughter a few yrs ago and that was when i got the negative responses from him. He had heard about the shettles timing method and thought that was worth a go - suppose that was cause of the frequent bd ha ha. Men!!

My husband would never take licorice root... he doesn't believe in "lotions and potions". What did you do last time to sway for a girl? Did you have boys first or was it your first pregnancy? Did you DH take licorice root last time?

I had a son first and then i swayed for my daughter. Looking back i can see why i conceived a son first. Had just got married and it was xmas so was eating and drinking lots, snacking much more than i usually do. We BD through ovulation, i was swimming and going to the gym 2-3 times a wk. I also took multi vitamins with cod liver oil. I swayed for my daughter although i really feel that my lifestyle is more girl friendly anyway. I did frequent bd and a cut off, lime douche 1 hr before bd, took cranberry, calcuim and magnesium and Acidophilus. I increased cal and mag intake and reduced sodium, although i didnt really follow a proper girl diet as back then when i swayed diet wasnt known as being so important. Hubby didnt do anything apart from taking part in the frequent bd. Goodluck xx

No, I would absolutely not give him licorice root. I do think frequent BD is safest for those over 35, when we were TTC I just wanted the freshest sperm I could get to fertilize my elderly eggs and then after I was already pg there was a study done that showed abstinence had a higher rate of birth defects so I felt good about that. (It's not much higher though!)

Well, that was Shettles' theory and it has since been debunked. Men make 50-50 X and Y sperm and they both are about the same size and live the same amount of time. We don't honestly know why lower sperm count seems to sway pink, only that it does!!

AP I think that running 30 miles a week sways "harder" and has more data backing it up, than all the licorice root on the planet. :agree:

Hi, sorry to jump on thread. I thought it was best for DH not to exercise too much as it increases testosterone and they are supposed to put on a bit of weight- have I got this completely wrong!!! I have tried to stop my DH from exercising too much, he goes to the gym every day, should I not worry about this? Or would it be better for him to run every day? Thanks

No not at all, I like these questions because it helps make these threads really informative.

It's better for him to run/bike than lift weights because of the testosterone factor. Lower testosterone, higher estrogen in men DOES sway pink just as you say, it's the sperm quality factor that seems to be affected by running/biking. So two diff. approaches to swaying but they both work.

Nutshell version -

If your main goal is to lower testosterone and raise estrogen then YES it is best for DH to not exercise and maybe even put on a little pudge. (but this is not necessarily as proven to sway pink as I would like and it may only sway by reducing sperm count/quality ANYWAY)

If your main goal is to lower sperm count/quality, then it is best for DH to run/bike a lot. (and this IS proven to sway pink).

It does seem possible to get the best of both worlds by having DH run/bike a lot while losing at least a little muscle weight because this can potentially lower his T levels BUT this is risky because he'll lose some fat as well and may lower his estrogen.

I think that one attempt with cutoff is "better" (sways harder) than two attempts because just as you said, it can boost the numbers of sperm available to meet the egg esp if you wait a day or two between go rounds. BUT it's not better for getting pregnant!!

I think mixing cutoff and O+12 is a fine idea and I wrote about it here if you haven't seen it yet - http://genderdreaming.com/forum/show...toff-with-O-12 I would prob. use RepHresh with my cutoff and Replens/Acijel for hte O+12 attempt (if you want to).

No, you're absolutely right, I think doing ALL the sway stuff is almost certainly overkill and will make it impossible to get pg. I strongly suspect that we could prob. BD right through O, using jelly and antihistamines and abstinence/frequent release.
