13 week potty shot reliable?

My friend just had an ultrasound at this gestation, and her tech told her 100% boy and gave her a potty shot to show it. I didn't think potty shots were any good at 13 weeks? Am I wrong?

Maybe the tech was going by nub, but gave her a potty shot?

i think sometimes boys can be pretty obvious even that early! it sure looks like a boy but i wouldnt paint or shop yet based on that! but chances are its a boy!

Anyone else have an opinion on this? It's her third and last child, she has two boys already.

Mine looked A LOT like that at 12 weeks and sure enough he's a boy. Tried researching all I could for different opinions of 12 week potty shot but I think boys are boys even that early.

This is interesting to me as I was told definite boy at 12+3 from a potty shot, the sonographer didn't know what a nub was. I'm finding out in just over a week but I think mine is a boy because I saw a boy nub (very briefly).

I would say that it's worth your friend preparing to hear boy, but having said that, that bit the arrow is pointing to in the second pic looks very long to be a penis. I wouldn't rule out it being the nub, which could be girly but without a side on view we can't know for sure.

Be sure to update us when you know! And tell your friend there are lots of sympathetic ears here if she does hear boy+struggles with it.

I think, like anything else in kids, some develop faster and some slower. You could have one baby showing nothing defining at 13 weeks and another with pretty obvious turtle/hamburger. I really think it's a case-by-case thing. I would never say all 13 week shots are reliable.

That said, we were told 100% boy at 13+1 with our first child. We saw a very obvious (much like this one) potty shot with a scrotum and penis. The tech even said "I am not saying it, you tell me what that looks like." And it certainly didn't change. He is very much a boy.

I do think this is a boy.

It's on the early side but I'm pretty sure she'll hear boy again at her next scan.

It turned our to be a boy for her, confirmed at 19 weeks today. She asked that I take down the photos though. But I guess a 13 week potty shot can be pretty accurate, just in case someone finds this thread later and wants to know.

My son was an obvious boy at 13 weeks. It is entirely possible.
