I think this is something Atomic has spoken about in her low-everything diet thread - that the simple carbs are a good idea because your blood sugar levels will be crashing shortly after each meal! I love carbs so I'm eating this way - today I had a sandwich at lunch time, pasta for dinner and I'll have a couple of pop tarts for supper!
Oh I read it wrong! I await other replies with interest :D

Diabetics have more girls naturally, don't they??
Not all diabetics just the ones who have super high or super low blood sugar. the ones who have it under control tend to have boys (2 cuz and together they have 4 boys and 1 girl)
I have included a low glycemic diet for myself because I know I ate a lot of sugar type foods before and now I want it to stay low.
jjc3434 - that's really interesting! Would love to hear other people's thoughts on this!
I really think it depends on the person. For me I can't eat any refined carbs and even brown rice will cause me to get very sleepy after a meal and gaining a ton of weight. I haven't really been able to do the diet recommended here because of that. However, the diet that I have been on I believe has been lowering my testosterone and I can supplement Ca and Mg and avoid K and Na so I am hoping that will do the trick. I have been on this diet for a month now and lost 5 lbs (I am 5'1" and weigh 115). When I was in college I would eat the way that was described in the girl diet and even though I didn't eat a whole lot I couldn't lose any weight and I was about 30 lbs heavier than I am now.
I think everyone is different. For some reason I am sensitive to refined carbs and sugar (even fruit) so I tend to avoid it and feel much better and weigh less even though I eat more.
I am on metformin for pcos due to insulin resistance. I have high testosterone for this reason. My RE told me to cut back on the carbs to regulate my insulin (which is what the metformin helps me to do), which will affect my andriods, which in turn will lower my testosterone and I will be able to ovulate on my own, without the help of clomid. Based on what I just read in OP and what my RE told me it would make since to limit carbs to sway girl IF testosterone is a huge factor.
Atomic also told me that metformin will make my cm hostile, thus sway girl as well. Not sure if these tie together.
Thanks for this! Every bit of info helps make a better sway.
Well, I have read the exact opposite of that. I've read (repeatedly) that simple carbs are terrible for testosterone, complex carbs are good for testosterone, proteins/fats with carbs are good for testosterone, and that insulin/cortisol opposes the action of testosterone. Otherwise, if this was the case you would see bodybuilders eating white bread and sugar to raise their T levels. But you don't see that. They eat protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats because that's what raises T.
A high carb, low fat diet has been shown in mice to lower the gender ratio (more girls born). This also fits in with the blood glucose theories as well, because eating quickly digested carbs WILL give you lower blood sugar.
I do have a warning against anyone with less than optimum glucose regulation (diabetes, insulin resistance, PCOS) doing the girl diet. For the average person, 6 weeks of eating more fruit, veg, lowfat dairy, and losing at least a little weight, is only going to HELP your health even if you do eat simple carbs along with it.
Just throwing this out here - I researched this for three years before this website came along and I would NOT tell anyone to do anything that I didn't feel was 100% supported by the facts (and also safe!) The bodybuilders are the ones who KNOW about testosterone because they do the real-life research, and while they do eat some simple carbs now and then (esp. after a workout to help them recover), NONE of them eat a diet that has a lot of simple carbs because they know from a lot of people's experience that eating simple carbs lowers their testosterone. They eat fat and protein because that feeds their testosterone.
Vegetarians/vegans also eat a lot of carbs and they are not exactly raging, muclebound testosterone monsters. ;)
You have to see the difference, in terms of ANYTHING you read online about the "dangers" of insulin and crashing your blood sugar, between someone who eats 50 fat-free cookies a day along with pancakes for breakfast, a slimfast for lunch, and mac and cheese for dinner, and what we're doing here. If you are eating 2 or 3 meals a day and 1500-1800 calories, even if those meals are based largely around simple carbs, there is no earthly way that you are raising your testosterone or blood sugar (at least in the long term)by doing so.
Anyone with problems regulating their blood sugar should NOT do the Crash and Burn style diet. I've said this many times including in my original blog, so this is not a new opinion I just made up for the benefits of this thread LOL. Your metabolism works differently than other people's and the diet will affect you differently and not be good for you.
However, losing weight will still sway pink for you because it will help lower your blood sugar and your testosterone. Losing weight on ANY diet sways pink and this is the key.
Before each of my last pregnancies I was dieting but I was following Slimming World which is incredibly healthy - you can eat unlimited amounts of meat, fish, beans, pasta, rice, fruit, veg, fat free yogurt as well as a measured amount of milk, cheese, high fibre cereal, wholemeal bread and a limited amount of 'treats' on top of that! I was literally eating loads but incredibly healthily so still losing weight and a good rate. I know lots of people who managed to get pregnant after following the diet but I'm the only one who had boys!! I would never choose to do the low-everything diet (or anything like it) as a way of losing weight (because I'd do Slimming World again - I loooove to eat!) but of course those aren't my reasons for losing weight this time. I've only been on it 4 days but have lost 4lb already :D
