exercise machine for girl sway

So it is cold out and def. not getting out to walk,run,bike ride or anything so was thinking of buying a machine. I hear a lot about running but I am really not a runner and if I get a treadmill then I will most likley just walk on it and not be able to run the hour. I was thinking of getting a bike machine. Not that I'm so in shape to bike an hour either lol but figure it's got to be easier than running. What do you think? Which would you get? Maybe if I got a treadmill I culd try 30min. of slow run and then do 30min of something fun like zumba?
Help me out ladies need ot get this started!

I use a treadmill and I can't run. I power walk and do inclined walking. By the end I am drenched in sweat...not sure if that is indicative of a good cardio workout though ??

I did see some ladies who got their girls were using the stationary bikes. I do wonder though how fast you need to pedal though for it to be considered cardio.

I work out in my living room watching walk away pounds. .and jog around when needed.

I dont see myself working out hardcore after I'm done swaying so not gonna spend $$ lol

I have had problems with injuries in the past, so I'm sticking to speed walking on the treadmill and the elliptical. I hope those are good enough!

lol i know rosie not sure if i can pedal that fast lol. i did do walk away the pounds before and i am pretty out of shape but it wasn't really much of a workout. i did jog around to add to it.

Yeah i know what u mean. I tend to jog ki n place ir around the house otherwise walk away ounds doesn't help much. .just getting ready strength wise si that when it is nice out..I can go for a long walk or jog without dying :-)

On a side note, I had been having severe chest pain jn the last couple days and couldn't for the life of ke figure out what was wrong as ut clearly wasn't gas
Ate 2 bananas for kuch today and feel back to normal. Thank god u remembered atomics advice regd pottassium

I personally am not a big fan of running anyway, literally everyone I know who did running when they were young ended up having hip/knee replacements the last 10 years.

There is no need to invest $$$ into this, I recommend zumba or Walk Away the Pounds or even just walking briskly. IT's totally up to you.

If you can afford it I absolutely recommend an Elliptical machine over a bike or treadmill. It's a low impact, low strain form of exercise less likely to build muscle or lead to injury, IMO, and it makes for a great, full-body cardio workout that burns plenty of calories. It's also much more fun (less boring) than other stationary machines. If you choose to sell it later, it will be easier to resell, too, as they are the most popular machines.

It doesn't HAVE to be that great a workout, all you are doing is doing SOMETHING for an hour every day with no food coming in during that time period. If I could go back in time I would take the "intense" name out of the intense exercise option because I think it's creating too much misunderstanding for people. you don't need to have your heart rate in some particular zone, you don't need to feel liek you are dying, you are just trying to help your body burn off its stores of fat/muscle for a little while and you accomplish that without having a near death experience.

oh you guys please please please be careful. The ONLY reason why potassium was ever limited on the old-school sway diets is because they do all that dairy which has tons of potassium in it. On LE Diet, we don't do so much dairy and it is IMPERATIVE to include potassium-rich foods while on LE. DO NOT limit potassium rich foods like tomato, potato, etc (bananas are not that high in potassium despite their reuptation) on LE Diet!!!!

So you ladies didn't see a lot of weight loss with the walking dvds?? How many miles were you doing? Like I said somewhere on the boards before...this exercise isn't just for my future daughter, I really really want to lose the weight for myself and my confidence and to be happy with my body again.

For some reason I cannot do ellipticals anymore! I tried getting on one and my knees were screaming at me after 3 minutes! It was insane. I wonder if I was doing something wrong because back in college I would go on one for over an hour no problem. Did I really age that much?! lol

I'm the wrong person to ask for that- I am an average weight and I usually maintain my weight so it takes a lot for me to actually lose weight. I enjoyed her dvds I just was not sweating up a storm like if I did ti-bo or jillians 30 days(boy friendly) It is a good workout and easy to watch/do and any amount of exercise makes you feel good so stick with it:) Like Atomic said I think we were all focusing on the "intense" wording and trying to hit that:)

I have started the lE on my own( still waiting atomic's personal plan), and walking my son to daycare and back, for five days I have lost 4lbs already. =)) I think just to make sure your intake is smaller than outtake, right?

Rosie. .I do 5 miles which takes me about an hour and is def working. I've lost close to 5 pounds in a couple wks..I'd lose more vut am purposely slowing down my weight loss coz I have lot of time vefore ttc. It is challanging time wise vut def not strength wise unless y ou choose to push yourself

Do your knees hurt when you do other exercise? Mine hurt under the kneecap when I was on the elliptical, running, hiking, biking or even brisk walking. Turned out I had patellar tracking disorder :( Hopefully that's not the case for you (I had surgery!)

I lost weight more than once on Walk Away the Pounds. you get out of them what you put into them - the moves are very simple and suitable for people of all levels of fitness. If you do them "bigger" and harder then you can get a decent workout.

I just used the dvd and did the 5 mile walk right away. I got a good work out I think! I made sure to do everything bigger and faster. She is kind of weird ..haha. It makes me feel more comfortable though. I really hope I can drop 20 pounds by mid April when we do our 1st attempt!

Lol..she is cheesy. .what I do is mute her and put headphone s on which pumps me up

I am so so nervous about the exercise stats. I was doing great but have not exercised now for almost 2 weeks add my back is still v sore and we attempt next week!! I just hope its enough minus this if we get pg nd I've wasted enough of my fat/muscle away without cardiac x

Yes dreaming, that is the thing - exercise does not exist in a vaccuum, it's in addition to the diet and weight loss. It is NOT exercise in and of itself that is really doing anything, it's the effec on your body and if you can have that same effect on your body (lowering blood sguar and testosterone/estrogen, declining fertility, lower muscle mass, lower body fat) then you can get the same results without the exercise.
