Is there any reason not to use both Rephresh AND Acijel?

I have both and after reading Atomic's posts, I think Rephresh sounds like the best option. But, for some reason, I can't get it out of my head that Acijel is some magical product that I MUST use.

AF is gone and I'm doing Rephresh every 3 days. My plan is to use it until we BD (not sure if we are doing a cutoff or not, as it takes me forever to get pregnant anyway), and I considering using Acijel after BD (like, maybe 30 minutes later).

I don't know whether or not that's overkill, though. I just figured since I couldn't decide between the two, I'd do both but I'm not sure if I should. Please help!

I just posted a thread about acijel/rephresh as well. Yes I keep thinking that people say that acijel was made to sway for a girl so I wonder if I should be using it. So I would also like to know if I can use rephresh every 3 days and then a fingertip of rephresh the morning of dtd and then the acijel after dtd? Or I wonder if you could use rephresh every 3 days but acijel on the morning of dtd and then 30mins after dtd. But I think I have read that adding acijel after dtd may be to much and kill everything off?

I know its best to try and keep everything as simple as possible so hopefully someone may know if you can use both products and what's the best time/day to use each product.

I think I did read though that someone actually mixed both products together i.e. to use them at the same time but they actually conceived a boy. They were trying for a girl!!

Oh no, that scares me that someone got a boy. Hmm..now I'm questioning using RepHresh. Too bad I just spent $17 on it!!

Its such a hard decision. I hope people can let us know if they know people who have used rephresh and if they got a girl or boy. I think rephresh sounds great for a cut off so I am leaning towards this and sylk. I will use rephresh instead of a douche. I was wondering though if you could use acijel as well but maybe its better to just chose one of them otherwise it gets to complicated. While acijel has good results I have also seen people get boy when using it so I was wondering if rephresh has a higher success rate for a girl. But I can't seem to find many outcomes with rephresh, so would be great if people know if more girls are conceived with rephresh??

I have pondered using both Acijel and Rephresh too and still haven't made a decision. I will use Rephresh every 2 to 3 days for sure and, if I do use Acijel, I'll use just a little an hour before BD. I'm not planning on using anything afterwards as I don't want to go overboard and we'll already be doing so much (BDing every day, DH taking hot baths before our attempts, antihistimine, low dosage aspirin, cut-off etc etc). I did try experimenting with using both together but I can't seem to do anything with gels which alters my pH at all! The more time passes the more I think lowering pH is just another way of lowering sperm count to sway girl but that the more I do and the more I check the more stressful and testosterone raising a method it becomes. At the same time, I can't help thinking that I might regret not using this (supposedly) magic Acijel! I'm going to experiment again when I ovulate this cycle.

jude17 - do you remember where you read about somebody mixing Acijel and Rephresh? It's hard to make decisions based on these outcomes because we don't know what else they were doing iykwim?

I know that replens rasied hubbys sperm ph so I decided not to use it. rephresh works for us as well as lime.

I did find one sway on IG where the lady was using Rephresh every 3 days long-term after an infection and she also used a combination of acijel and (I think) lime and that particular lady had a girl. It's just so hard to compare your own plans with another sway because we're all different and doing other things differently but it does look as though it's a possibility if we test for ourselves and find it's ok.

The only concern that I have about mixing Acijel and RepHresh is that since RepHresh is designed to be reactive (it's designed to keep everything in the vagina at 4.5-5), it ~might~ react with the low pH of the Acijel and raise pH. But several people tested it and found that it didn't raise their pH at all and one lady even had success with the combo when either by themselves hadn't worked. At any rate, it shouldn't raise pH above 4.5-5 anyway, but as we all know just because something says it does x, y, z, doesn't mean it actually does!

If you test it ahead of time, you'll be able to see if it works for you or not.

Since it takes you a long time to conceive, I am not loving the idea of using both for you because it would surely be overkill.

Are you going for a cutoff, O+12, or BD at O?? I really think RepHresh by itself or with Acijel is best for cutoff and frequent BD through O, while a fast-acting jelly like Replens or Acijel may be better for O+12 or one shot at O. That's because the RepHresh keeps working for 3 days, reacting with everything to lower pH, while the Replens, Acijel act immediately and then get diluted by whatever shows up on scene.

If you're BD at O or O+12 (any time you've already ovulated) 30 minutes after you DTD is ALREADY too late. The sperm are gone by then. There's no point in using the Acijel 30 minutes after DTD unless you're going for a cutoff, and like I said above I think REpHresh is better for a cutoff.

The only reason for that is because some of the other sway gurus advise Acijel and O+12 and scare people off of RepHresh with cutoff. No one uses it not because it doesn't work but because people are scared to use it.

The fact is, without the benefit of scientific studies we can't know which is best so for now we have to just go off of what makes the most sense. To me, with a cutoff, RepHresh makes a LOT more sense than Acijel and having to obsess over your pH constantly for 3 or 4 days!!

You can do any or all of those things if you want to. Yes, it might be too much of a good thing but then again, maybe not. You won't know until you try it (and I suggest a dry run WITH SEMEN) at a time of the month where you're not fertile, and you can see what happens. I don't think a fingertip of Acijel will totally kill off every sperm, it's just that when you're already doing 700 other things (lower sperm count, antihistamine, jump and dump, RepHresh) at some point it does become too much of a good thing.

You will find someone who conceived an opposite doing everything under the sun. A friend of mine got an opposite with a 92% Microsort!!!

Don't fear the RepHresh! Sometimes people do everything right and then just have bad luck.

Yay, congratulations, so happy to hear your news :D

I'm glad Atomic confirmed what I had been thinking, that if Rephresh brings everything back to 4.5 it should only rise pH after Aci-jel back to that point and not higher. I understand we have to test but that's reassuring.

zanacal I think another huge bonus of rephresh is that you can relax and not HAVE to test at all?

Absolutely, I will test this month when we're not trying just to make sure my pH doesn't go sky high or anything but I've no intention of testing during our real attempts as I'll be doing everything I can anyway, no need to stress about something I can't do anything more for!

I've been using RepHresh every 3 days since AF and my pH has stayed nice and low. I had a little EWCM today and even that was only 5. So, it's working!

That's good news. I think I give up with testing my pH - it always seems to be about 5, no matter what I do!
