So for most people does this put them at one day prior to ovulation? For me that was the case (or pretty darn close i think) but i wondered is that the case for everyone?

I think if you attempt at pos opk, it puts you 24-36 hours before ovulation. I don't know my exact o day, just dtd at pos opk and it stayed pos for days!

I was wondering as well becausei usually get a + opk the day of ovulation and I heard by then its too late. Is that true? The reason I know my positive is the day of ov is because I always get bad cramps that day.
You can getting cramping before, during and after ovulation. It's not a reliable sign to determine exact O. In fact, its near impossible to determine exact O, unless you're having 24 hour u/s monitoring :)
Most women will O 8 - 48 hours after first +OPK...
Anchor what if I only had 1 attempt the day of ovulation. Would that b considered too late?
No not at all. The eggie can live up to 12 hours. The spermies need to travel about seven inches from the cervix through the uterus to the fallopian tubes. They travel at a rate of roughly an inch every 15 minutes. The fastest swimmers may find the egg in as little as 45 minutes, while the slowest can take up to 12 hours. If they don't find an egg in the fallopian tubes at the time of intercourse, the sperm can wait there in a resting stage for up to 72 hours.
Everything you ever needed to know about sperm meets egg, LOL. In a nutshell, since we can't reliably pinpoint O, we go with first +OPK because we know that O will follow shortly...
Thank u so much for the quick reply that was very informative :) and im sorry I know this is another totally random question but ive noticed alot of ladies making husbands abstain for up to 7 days and then 1 attempt at pos opk. Why is that? Ive heard sperm that isnt ejaculated every 4 days become worse quality or die off? Is that not true? I would like to try that next month if im not pregnant just curious about y that method works and how. Im ttc girl
There are two awesome (albeit lengthy) articles on this...frequency and timing. Some of the best articles are in the member section, you might consider paying the $12 so you can catch up on all the recent research:

If you're alreaady having DH release every 2-4 days and then one release, I would stick with that. I do not think the abstain is bringing anything to the sway that the one release is not already doing, and it is drastically lowering odds of conception. I would recommend sticking with the every 4 day release + one attempt for good odds at both conception and pink.
Thank u for all the replies atomic. The only reason I assume I ovulate the day of the pain is because the first month ttc I took my bbt everyday. I had ovulation pains on the same day as positive opk and the next morning I had a temp rise. I also had a negative opk the day before and after the positive opk. I know u said u cant know for sure wo ultrasound but when would u assume I ovulate? I just want my next attempt to give the sperm enough time to mature and reach the egg while also not being too late. Sorry if that was too long and confusing
BBT has only been able to pinpoint day of ovulation 30% of the time in studies. It is great for helping people conceive and preventing unwanted pregnancy, but no better than a close guess at detecting ovulation day.
When OPK go pos or neg that doesn't tell us anything either. Some people ahve short surges, others have long surges, and it doesn't mean anything for when they ovulate after their first positive.
You cannot know what day you ovulate without an ultrasound. The good news is, you don't have to know. That is why we are having attempt at first pos OPK, that is before ovulation for everyone with no guesswork involved - unlike a cutoff where you're like, geesh am I 3 days before ovulation now or what?? DTD at pos OPK and you're in with a well timed attempt for good odds of conception.
