August TTC a Girl Thread
Is there a thread already open for August? If so send me that way please. Otherwise, this can be it! :welcome:
I am so excited to be actively TTC this month. I am on CD 5, third day of my clomid dose. I am nervous and excited all at once!!
How is everybody else doing? How are you feeling about August?
-
Yay! Im in for round 2! Done my clomid, now waiting for it to work its magic meanwhile doing every 4 days because opks never show positive! lol good luck to all the other mummies, pink baby dust our way
-
I'm joining the thread. Currently 5dpo and had a bbt drop to my coverline. Fx it was an early implantation drop! I've been super emotional today, but I'm pretty sure that's due to DH deploying in less than 24 hours :/
-
Ratcliffe- Here's to round 2! I have heard lots of round 2 clomid success stories. I hope you get your BFP this month!!
Seabee- sorry to hear that your hubby left this morning. I am sure that has to be so difficult. I hope you get a BFP soon to help cheer you up. When do you think you will test?
-
Thanks hoping. It's definitely tough right now. If my temps shoot back up tomorrow, I'll probably test at 9dpo. I got a faint bfp with DS2 at 9dpo. It will be a nice deployment surprise :) I've been ttc 3 months now, ttc a girl is much more difficult than boys!
-
I'm cheering you girls on!!
I'm in the middle of the 2ww for round 3. I'm 4dpo. I took clomid this month and did a trigger. I'm also on progesterone supps. We BD about 12 hours after the trigger and then about 12 hours after supposed O. DH convinced me, for some reason I did not have him pull out. I suppose I got caught in the moment. So I don't know if that counts as anther attempt or not since it's very likely the egg was dead. I have a beta scheduled for August 15. I will probably test before that, but I have to make sure to test out the trigger first.

Is this a pos opk?? http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/08/05/udutyqa7.jpg

nope that is not a positive opk, test line has to be as dark or darker than control.
seabeewife--I have been temping for years and I often see a one-day temp dip around 5-6 DPO, it's a surge of estrogen that your body produces to keep the lining nice for a possible baby. Hang in there!
-
This will be my first round of TTC, AF is due soon than on to BDing! Good Luck hope to see lots of BFPs this month!
-
Not quite positive yet lya!
-
Carmella I read about that! Last two cycles I didn't have it, so it caught me off guard. Hopefully it's a good sign for me.
-
seabee - fingers crossed it's an implantation dip. GL with the deployment, it must be so difficult! Hope this is your month!
lya - agree with the other ladies. For me mine would look like this about 2 days before a real positive but I know everyone is different.
DH and I are DTD every 4 days this month. I usually ovulate around CD14 (and we made our likely "real" attempt on CD13). I'm probably going to keep up the every 4 days thing until AF shows up because I'm scared I will ovulate late and miss my window. We screwed up OPKs last month so I'm paranoid to just assume I'll ovulate on time and give up the BD too soon!
I think I'm 2 dpo today and I ate too much vegetarian pizza at lunch. I hate how I'm always tempted to cheat in the 2WW! UGH. Must be better tomorrow!
-
Blue are you temping and using OPK's?
-
I'm not doing any tracking at all this month (other than my weight, I'm scared I'll gain weight if I give that up!). It's totally unlike me (I temped for 6 months prior to this month and used OPKs for the last 4), but last month after obsessing over the OPKs and still screwing it up I decided to give them up!
The downside now is I have no idea if I ovulated (although my cycles have been very regular the past 6 months so probably still are), and now I can't use temps to look for implantation dip or other pregnancy signs. I guess it's good I have one less thing to obsess over this month during the 2WW, but the Martha in me is goings nuts not having any "data" to look at ! Next month we are traveling during my ovulation/2WW so it will be another month where I'll be skipping OPK and temping.
-
Oh man I have an addiction to temping and POAS! I give you props haha! If my sway fails this month I'm doing the same with BD every four days. Probably not the first month because it'll be 7 months that I didn't get any ;) fx for you this month! Maybe all the data is what has been stressing us out of BFP'S!
-
I have a huge POAS addiction too! I'm only allowing myself one pg test this month (after I wasted 4 last month!), so I'm hoping that makes me hold out. OMG 7 months without ? You are an amazing woman!! Yes, definitely don't do every 4 days after that :) Let's think positive that you'll be pregnant anyways from this cycle so it won't matter !
-
I'm a massive poas addict too! Costing me a fortune!
Thanks everyone I think I'm just a bit over excited that I might actually ovulate finally!!

Lya- Yay for positive OPK!!! Since you are anxious for a BFP, I would do another attempt too! Good luck!!

We're in month 2 of TTC. My cycles came back four months ago after I weaned DS2 and they were normal (O'ing on CD 21), but last month it went completely wonky! I don't even know if I O'd or when I did :( (here is the chart in case you all are so compelled: My Ovulation Chart)
We are doing every four days this month since I have no idea what's up with my cycle. OPKs and HPTs don't work for me so it's pretty frustrating!
My hubs is on LR and OLE. I'm taking Spiro (for hair loss), Folic Acid, drinking lots of Crystal Light, eating a vegetarian diet, upped my dairy intake, couch potato (sigh), negative ions everywhere, baby Aspirin, and Benadryl when I have mucus (although I didn't last month). Last month we used RepHresh as a lube in addition to Sylk. I think I might drop it this month, or just use a dab the day before each attempt.
I consulted a psychic who told me that there a strong girl presence wanting to join our family, but they don't think I will get pregnant with her until October. I know it sounds silly, but it really helped me slow my roll a bit and just enjoy the journey for now.
Good luck, ladies!
-
Hi Daydrm - the every 4 days thing is so great for wonky cycles (or people that are just fed up with OPK like myself). Fingers crossed this method sways pink for both of us! I would drop the refresh because it isn't getting great results and seems to help prevent conception, but that's just me. I don't blame you for using a psychic to help you relax a bit. If I *knew* I would have a daughter someday I think I would be a lot more relaxed about everything even if I had to wait for years. My great aunt is a professional tarot card reader and saw a daughter for me when she read my cards a few years ago. I dont' believe it at all, but it was fun to have some reassurance !
-
BlueBonnet- my SIL does the "ring test" and has been wrong just a couple of times out of 100s of readings. She has always read boy-boy-girl for me. I thought she was nuts because I NEVER thought I would have three babies, LOL :)
I have three tubes of the RepHresh sitting upstairs so I don't know what to do with them. I might just drop them since the %s haven't been great.
I don't know what to do about this month b/c I either ovulated on CD12 or CD21 last month (kinda weird, huh) based on my chart. I guess we'll just BD every four days or so and take it from there. Good luck to you!!!
-
daydrm - definitely do the every 4 days thing and don't even worry about it. It's so freeing ! GL to you as well!

HI everyone. My husband and I are swaying this month for a princess. I am lost in the info though. So much on this site says that everything doesn't matter, but people are doing it anyway. The diet says do all this but not if you have PCOS which I do. So i don't know how to follow the diet really. This is my first Clomid cycle. I am hoping that it works. We are trying to do the diet but it's hard, and I can't figure out what matters and what doesn't. And we are doing PH testing and changes though it says all ovr the place on here that it doesn't matter. Timing too, but it says on here that it doesn't matter. I guess I am just a little disheartened today because I was feeling so great about my sway then I read all the 'resources and research' stuff and it says nothing I am doing matters. So why am I doing it? I just feel like I lost faith in what I am doing. Is there a place on here where I can see what people did and if they got their girl?
-
Livethe3quetra - the things that have gotten best results are diet (for PCOS just focus on being vegetarian, eating less protein (50-60 grams) and 20-30% fat, while only eating "healthy" carbs like brown rice, wheat pastas and breads, etc), I'm not sure if OPKs work with clomid, but you just want to focus on DTD once at positive OPK. If OPKs don't work, just BD once every 4 days.
In a nutshell - diet + one attempt are the main things you should be doing. Don't get lost in all the PH/timing/frequency confusion.
-
I know that OPK SHOULD work on Clomid. My Dr specifically asked me to OPK to make sure the dose was effective. If I dont ovulate on it she will up the dose as needed. This is my first month using Clomid and I have not ovulated on my own in years. I have no idea if the OPK will even pick up on the surge or not. So we are flying blind. Since I don't know if the OPK will work its best to just BD every four days? and if I dont get my BFP this month maybe having my ovlation charted we can do the single try next month. I like hoe easy to read the chart is but I can't access the second page. it just says 'loading' anyone else having that issue?
-
I'm not sure how to answer the chart question, but I would BD every 4 days PLUS track your OPK if you aren't sure if OPK will work for you. I know you can only be on clomid for so long so at some point it's recommended to BD every 4 days PLUS one additional attempt when you get a positive OPK. Maybe one of the clomid ladies can chime in, but basically to sway pink you want just one attempt in your fertile window and if OPK isn't working for you at least the every 4 days method makes sure you have an attempt in.

August TTC a Girl Thread
I haven't been on here a whole lot, but may be trying this month! I am not so sure, though because I am not sure my diet has been as good as it should have been. I started in May and gradually got lazy about The diet aspect because I am a terrible all day snacker. I often have days of snacking and just too much sugar intake, lately. It's intermittent, but enough that I'm afraid it may screw is my sway.I bake a lot for my boys because I do not buy much processed food. So I try the sweets I make, often too much.
I have been good about
-low or no meat intake and eggs only every couple of days or so.
-religiously doing my 60 min per day of cardio
-and usually at least 12 hours from dinner til breakfast. I'm not on any meds except -I have to take Zyrtec every day for allergies and taking folate every night.
-I've also had a glass of wine nearly 5 nights per week. (It used to be maybe once a week or less). I'm just hoping that with all of these habit changes, the intake of fat and sugar won't hurt me as much...but I may chicken out and wait til September. Any thoughts or opinions on whether I should wait or not? I will likely Ovulate 18-20th of Aug. I also have only dropped about 3 lbs...but would have been more if I didn't love sugar and snacking so much:/ I could stand to lose 15.
Also, my dh has no idea I'm swaying. He has been eating much less meat based on his work schedule and my cooking, though. He's also lost a few lbs, although he doesn't need to. And nap been doing lots of cardio. I am afraid that once I tell him ok go ahead nd don't pull out, he will just go for it every day after that, so I'm freaking out on how to stop him or what to do to keep that from happening. I was thinking we should try 5 days prior to O to be on the safe side. I get pregnant very easily-always first try, historically (5pregnancies) so I'm erring in the side of caution.
-
Why can you not tell him 3boysblessed? Just tell him when you're ready for trying that you would just like to try going for a girl but not worries either way. You might be surprised by his support. I was! I thought my DH would think it was a nonsense but he's really helping me give it our best shot. Lately I have got to the point that I wouldn't be devastated if I had another boy anyway.

3boysblessed, why are you doing 5 days before O?
As I understand it, people are getting a lot more girls by having 1 go, but close to or on O.
-
Hi ladies. Add me to the list. 2nd month, July was a bust. Just finished AF so about 8 more days and we'll go for attempt #2. Good luck everyone!
-
Blessed I didn't think my husband would be supportive but he is more into it now that I am. I am taking clomid and have been trying to tell him we need to back off the swaying a bit or I won't get preg, but he is adamant he wants to try everything all at once to make sure the one we have is a girl or nothing at all. And all it took was talking to him about 'what do you think about having a baby' and then telling him I really really really want a girl.
Now things I am not telling him..... that's that I secretly want twins. If for nothing else than the chances of at least one of them being a girl is greater. But also because I really want twins. I am a notoriously healthy pregnant lady. I do well and deliver at term. I would LOVE to carry twins. And the thought of twin girls make me giddy
-
Livethe3quetra-- LE diet, one attempt in fertile period, exercise (cardio for 60 min 5-7 times a week), olive leaf extract for DH, and alcohol for DW are all getting excellent results. That's what I would focus on!
For diet, even with PCOS, you still need to make sure you're not snacking and that you have at least 12 hours between dinner and your first meal.
Here's the spreadsheet for the statistics for everyone who swayed girl and what they did or didn't do.

Can I join too? I have a DS who is 20 months and this is our first month of TTC a girl (very nervous!!!!). Currently on CD18 so currently in the 2ww, eekkkkk! I'm worried that my sway hasn't really been 100% committed. Diet-wise I suck although by some miracle ive managed to drop 15lbs so currently weigh 7st13lbs at 5'5". I have cut out snacking (which im sure accounts for the weight loss) but by no means have I reduced my meat or portion intake (eating same as I always have done). Do skip brekkie making it around 15hrs from dinner to first meal the following day and have been doing this for around 5 months now so feel positive about this aspect of my sway. Starting drinking diet cola which is something I didn't do before trying to sway. In addition im taking folic acid and SP from AF-O as well as Zyrtec from CD5-CD14 and only DTD every 4 days. Hoping this is enough although I do feel it is a rather slack sway.
Good luck to all those in the August TTC : ) lets hope we get our girls : ) x
-
I'm so glad to have found you girls again. I joined another thread after the TTC in July finished but people weren't posting like here! I think I'm D14 today having ovulated yesterday ( hopefully my chart will confirm this tomorrow) What I did learn this month though, I have charted through all of my pregnancies and think I've got a pretty good idea about opks but this month I ovulated early. First positive opk yesterday morning, tried to confirm with a digital but it was negative but I could tell by the lines on it that it was gonna happen. Did a digital a few hours later and it was positive. Did a cheapy this morning that was strongly positive but the digital said negative. Therefore I can see how people can miss their ovulation fi they relied solely on opks if they don't really understand them. I'm just hoping my temp confirms my calculations tomorrow.
I'm really looking forward to hearing some BFPs....it gives me boost and puts a smile on my face. x
-
3boysblessed - I would attempt this month. I was 100% perfect on the diet before our attempt last month and BFN. I say this because you can wait and wait for the perfect month and it may never come. Sounds like you are doing great overall. I would NOT do a cutoff - it doesn't help sway pink and only hurts your odds of getting pg.
Everyone else - this thread has gotten so active I can't keep up! Welcome to all the new ladies and I hope we get tons of BFPs this month!
-
Assuming I actually O this month, I will be in the mix too. Normally somewhere in the 19-23 day range, right now cd 9. Doing every 4 days is the plan, we shall see... Have been having a little One Born Every Minute binge tonight, 5 episodes straight and could not be more baby hungry than I am right now. :baby2:
