It looks like it is pointed up in the pic but that is only because the spine is too! Forked and parallel with spine= GIRL!

I'm useless at nubs (usually I can't even see them!) but I'm sure this is a good example of how the position of the spine can change how it looks - I can see that this nub is perfectly parallel to the bottom of the spine. Congratulations on your little girl :D

You guys are funny! You know I sort of picked the most boy looking shot because I'm paranoid. This is one out of a zillion I got plus a DVD of that session, and there are many shots where that nub looks super parallel with the spine when it's straighter. I have since actually had I think 2 more ultrasounds, and my OB even said the other day it does look just like a girl to him even though its early.
But it's interesting because if this is the one nub shot you got, you would get boy guesses!
I would say boy from this shot based on angle alone. I have seen forks on both boy and girl nubs. I'm no expert though, I just spend loads of time looking at these things to get some insight on my bub's nub!!
Wow Lindi, I can totally see how that is a nub shot that could go either way ... you really do have to look at the curve of the spine like NBP mentioned, otherwise I can see where it mimics a boy nub. That's great that you've had more u/s and your OB keeps reassuring you it's a girl; I am sure if I went HT I'd be all over that too, making SURE it really is what it should be!
No kidding right? And then I also had a high risk ultrasound on Monday, and that tech said she has only ever been wrong twice, out of like over a thousand ultrasounds...and she said it's a girl, too. She looked at a potty shot first, and then she actually used the nub theory and walked me through how to "see" the angle of the nub!
50/50 for me.

Umm baby looks like a boy to me.
She's had a later ultrasound with a specialist and it IS a girl. Just goes to show that a nub picture does not always predict gender accurately!
