When to just quit.

Hi ladies. I've been on the site off and on since its inception, and while I dont post a lot, I have read of your joys and sorrows.

This month marks 5 years of recurrent chemical pregnancies. more than 20 by now, 3 this fall alone.

I am devastated my body just can't do the one thing I want more than anything, to give my husband one more child. He only has one, and he is the dearest, best father in the world. he deserves one more, and I can;t give it to him. I have ben on supplement after supplement, even taking zinc, vit d, b12, b6 just to increase the odds even tho we want a girl, cause NOTHING sticks right now, how can I get a girl if nothing sticks.

I am at the end of my rope. I submitted a form with dr B above, maybe my natural killer cells are killing baby every time, or I have an immunology problem. Its interesting that all this started after the birth of a son with a new partner. My mom always said she thought that was the problem and I was crazy to think otherwise but I had never heard of it and found little in research. Dr B has straightened me out on that!

I feel heartbroken and lost.

You need testing! Clearly there is an issue. If you can afford immunity testing, something is going on and your body is attacking embryos.

I'm so sorry. There is likely an answer but you need help.

I have no advice. Just wanted to say how sorry I am.

My heart breaks for you! I hope that you can get answers soon. While my struggles pale in comparison, I know how devastating repeated loss and BFNs can be. I will keep you in my prayers, and I believe that you will have another baby soon! Don't lose hope; sometimes that is all we have! 😘

I don't have the $6000+ that the testing costs through Dr B right now. I might in a few months, but I don't now. And since its been over a year since my last visit to the fertility clinic in Calgary, I have to get a referral before they will even TELL me if they offer immunolgy testing! I have a dr appointment on friday anyway, i will get him to do the referral and hopefully I will be able to book an appointment in a couple of weeks--but getting to book and being seen are very different things...it might take a month or two before they can fit me in!

Maybe they will be able to do all the testing I need, and I wont have to shell out 6000 I dont have. Im not getting any younger, I turned 38 in september.

I wish there was just an easy answer. I feel like Im giving up on a life long dream here.

What part of canada are you in? Toronto seems to be very ahead of what anywhere else offers...I just moved across the AB border into BC. Apparently my healthcare will still cover the cost, most specialists we get sent to are in calgary as its our closest major city--2.5 hours as apposed to Vancouver, 9 hours!

Oh hun, I can't even imagine, going through so much for so lomg and worse, not knowing why. I'm so sorry, and I hope you get booked intoman appointment lickety-split. I agree totally with NBP that there are options that will likely help or even solve your problem. Fx this year. Please don't give up on your dream!

Going back to fertility clinic for one more round. And perhaps the life insurance from my mom's death can pay for Dr b to do his testing. So much money :/

Im not throwing in the towel yet. Going back to my fertility clinic in march, they listed off all the immunology tests they did (wow there were a lot!) And all was good. Maybe my eggs are crappy. Im going to ask for clomid, i hear it increases egg quality.

Anyone know if a CT scan with injected dye can wreck your eggs?

Your eggs are pretty well protected from all but the most horrific nuclear accidents. THey have us wear lead shields for X-rays as preventative measures, not because one such procedure will hardboil your eggs. :)

Clomid is not always best for older moms - can you ask about Femara, it may be better (altho not all docs will prescribe.) It also sways pink and is better odds of conception than Clomid for those over 35.

The ct scan they injected the radiation dye so it went through my entire body. They inly scanned my head. But the dye circulates everywhere which is why i wondered. However the mcs started before that anyway, by a couple of years. Just wondering if anyone knew.

So sorry, that's beyond devestating :( First thing that comes to mind is you may have clotting issues? But only a doctor can tell you after testing if that's a problem for you. I wish you all the best and hope you'll have another healthy baby.

Im sure this is going to seem very obvious, but you have had progesterone all checked out and thyroid for that matter? I don't know a lot about fertility beyond my own experience so just wanted to throw it out there. So sad that you can create the babies yet they don't stick :( x

The dye that they use for a CT is not radioactive. It does go throughout the body and is filtered out by your kidneys but the only radiation (x-rays) come from the CT machine itself. It's relatively safe unless you are allergic to it or your kidneys aren't functioning properly and the body just sees it like a waste product and excretes it.

I really hope they can find a simple cause for this soon. I'm so sorry you had to go through this :(

OMG! I'm at the regional fertility clinic in Calgary too! Or at least I was. Sorry, I never had to go the immunology route, so unsure if they do those tests, but I have a feeling they do.

Did you move to BC?

Yes i've had my clotting factor and progesterone and thyroid tested. Progesterone is low but i've been using it for 18 months now. Its something else :/
