Me. But I have requests for ultrasounds . I dont think I would do it without having scans im too much of a worrier . But thats me.
If I could get them I absolutely would. I might try (to get some from a dr) as I do have a naturally short LP, not that I think it's to blame as it never prevented conception in the past.
I'm seriously thinking about asking for one or the other too. Not sure which one to "mention to the doctor though"! At my age of 190 I'm guessing femara. This is my last shot so I'm going to try anything (within reason).
LOL I thought I was the only 190 year old on here! :)

I am 39 :( (Bday was last month) and I used clomid and I wasn't monitored but I do not feel it did anything good for me at all so I will not use it again. I would maybe try femera. I feel like since I stopped clomid, my cycles were a mess for about 2-3 months with very short LP.

I am already a hyper Oer so I think I will ask for Femara if possible, as I don't want to raise my chance of multiples. I'm a pharmacist so often drs are okay with me suggesting meds.
Maidentomother do we know how much Femara sways?

That is because until about 4 weeks ago when we found out about that study, we thought Clomid was better based on the traditional theories of swaying. Femara has now been shown better in one study and so now people are talking about it.
Femara may be more difficult for many to get because it is an off label use - it's not as commonly used for fertility.
Where is this femara study?
I saw one study online about femara and increased risk of fetal abnormalities. Yikes!!!

That is when it is taken during pregnancy and many, many doctors and researchers lament this because they feel that it is causing people and doctors to avoid using Femara, a better drug than Clomid, for no reason. Femara leaves the human body in 45 hours instead of 5-7 days like Clomid and it will not even be in your system when you ovulate, let alone during pregnancy. I used Clomid for the purpose of swaying pink only. I told my Dr. that my periods were long/irregular...not entirely untrue, however it wasn't an issue that prevented me from getting pregnant in the past. I walked out with an Rx that day. The dr didn't even think twice about prescribing it. I was monitored closely and was lucky enough to get pregnant on our first cycle. I'm 10 weeks now and biting my nails until I know if its a boy or girl!
The thought of taking Clomid for swaying purposes only seemed extreme to me a couple years ago, but after my 3rd boy I was willing to give anything a shot. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I personally had no side effects at all.
Babygitl... what cd did you take it and how many scans did you need? Did you only have 1 follicle that grew?

If you O on your own, 25mg is plenty to sway pink! We've had several ladies take 25mg/day for swaying purposes only. I think it's ideal to limit multiples, too.
Pinkin2011 - I took 50mg for 5 days starting on CD 4. I was really nervous about being overstimulated since I didn't really "need" it. I had a few scans to monitor growth and during the last one it showed only one mature egg. I was thankful to know that I didn't have any chance of multiples during that cycle since only one egg was developing. I don't think I would have taken Clomid if my Dr didn't monitor everything so closely.Quote:

Some have been able to. I would say that you're TTC and wondering if you can get a trigger shot - they have to monitor you for that. And if s/he says no, then say thank you and don't make a fuss about it.
You mean trigger shot of clomid?
I'm trying to stay away from asking for that since I have clomid myself.

No, a trigger shot of hcg. This doesn't sway, it's a shot that helps your body release the egg and also helps people to know when they're ovulating and when to have sex to get pregnant. Many people get trigger shots without Clomid and they have to do monitoring so they know when to give it to you.
As you can see, this begins to all get awfully complicated, doesn't it??? I wish we could just walk in to the doc's office just like any other type of business and say "hey, do this, do that" and then they'd just, you know, do it. As long as it wasn't dangerous, which it isn't. To be honest, I think that if you're that scared of multiples you're best off just leaving the Clomid alone because even with the scans, they can't always see everything.
RE where you'd have the scan done, I can't answer that because some doc's offices have ultrasounds there and others don't.

I'm gonna see him this Thursday. I'm gonna disclose to him that I'm planning on taking some clomid that I have and see what he says.
He is a really laid back doctor.
I remember after my first delivery ( and having it not go so good) I jokingly told him that I wish I had gotten a c section and he said that all I needed to do was ask him for one. I don't think many doctors just offer a c section like that.

All you can do is what you feel comfortable with. I'm just going to warn you that whether laid back or not, prepare for a lecture and also the claim that Clomid doesn't sway pink but doctors simply haven't read the studies about it. Doctors know a ton of stuff about a ton of stuff but they'll deny Clomid sways pink because they ahven't heard about it. They may even see 50-50 conceived on Clomid but do not understand that it's because of PCOS and also the things that people do to boost fertility on Clomid that makes it look even. For the average person, it does sway pink and studies have shown it.
My cousin is on clomid and was for her first ( a girl ) and her ob told her that she had an 80 percent chance that she would have a girl? And she did. She also has pcos. She lost alot of weight before conceiving
Now that OB has the opposite problem and is inventing numbers out of thin air! :)
I'm not gonna mention anything about taking it to sway.
I'm gonna say I'm gonna take it bc I have a very short LP and see what he says.

Raising hand...this is me. :) I was on 50 mg, and I just stopped right away when I had the eye pain. Sort of an aching feeling. It went away after a week or so...probably right around when the clomid left my system.Quote:

Femara has a lot fewer side effects so worth a try IMO.
I took Clomid 50 mg for swaying only.
I wasn't monitored wich worried me a bit. Right after Ovulation i felt a lot of cramping for days, like there was a lot going on in there. One week after my O i felt really pregnant and i never had that so early with my other pg's.
I took it from CD 3-7. I conceived the first cycle and it's only 1 baby, so no twins fortunately.
I really hope it's a girl! I'll find out after 5 weeks...
Possibly, but they are different medications so I'd give it a try if your doc is willing. The worst that will happen is that you'll experience hte same issue and have to drop it like you did with the Clomid.Quote:
