They retested my thyroid for this pregnancy and my tsh came back low but both my t4 and t3 are normal range. She said i probably dont need to treat the mild hyperthyroidism. Is this right? Can anyone tell me anymore about this. Im nervous about it all.

I feel like we've seen better outcomes with even low normal thyroid stuff getting treated. Was this something she was kind of leaving up to you??
Dunno...she said she was gonna show the doc and other midwives and get their opinions. I've read that treating it doesn't really do anything unless the person is symptomatic.
As a thyroid patiënt I would prefer treatment in your case.
You have had multiple mc's. The baby takes your thyroid hormones till 12 WK's as his/hers doesn't work til then.
Later on in pg baby can get bit lazy with slow thyroid. It doesn't hurt to treat it to say tsh around 1.

Mine is overactive... no risk for miscarriage they said that is for hypothyroidism.

If I recall correctly it doesn't need treatment. They do check for tsh antibodies here. When they come back positive women stay onder control by specialist. And deliver in hospital were they stay a bit longer after delivery. To check baby.
You do want you tsh to be a bit in the lower number range (so higher activity) while pregnant. So if the number is just slightly low but not too too low, I would be happy with that:) You certainly don't want a high tsh number while pregnant.

My tsh is also low but my t3 and t4 levels are normal and I'm also not being medicated. I had an ultrasound done this week at 22 weeks to check baby's thyroid and all is well. I wouldn't worry too much they prefer an overactive thyroid to an under active one.

Low TSH actually = hyperthyroid; it means the pituitary is exerting less thyroid stimulating hormone since the thyroid is producing thyroid hormones (like T3 and T3) on its own just fine (OR too much!). Low TSH tends to be better for conception and pregnancy since the thyroid normal actually change for pregnancy during the first two trimesters -- what would sometimes be consider hyperthyroid is considered fine during those trimesters. Too low of a TSH CAN be a problem sometimes (since if too low for all of pregnancy, it could affect the fetus' own thyroid development), but it's usually much more OK (and even preferred) for conception and pregnancy.
High TSH = hypothyroid (the pituitary is having to send more thyroid stimulating hormone because the thyroid is not producing enough thyroid hormones on its own). This is something that needs to be treated asap for fertility and for healthy pregnancies and breastfeeding.

Im waiting on my blood work from my thyroid test yesterday. It was 3.5 going back so i started meds but im not getting pregnant i wonder if it is my thyroid causing the issue?? I hope to hear from my dr soon
It is always possible Pinkin but normally what we tend to see is pregnancies that hang on till 11-14 weeks and then end for no apparent reason. That to me is a sure sign thyroid needs to be investigated.
My thyroid came back at 1.4 so i really doubt its that.
1.4 what? TSH? A full thyroid workup is at least TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. TSH can appear fine since it fluctuates so much, even though T3 and T4 are abnormal.Quote:

Do you happen to have your most recent T3 and T4 numbers on hand? The norms have changed a lot every few years recently for thyroid, so I'd wonder if your doc is saying they're fine and they're not.Quote:
