We we're told boy at our NT scan, and I definitely believe it. We unfortunately did not get any nub shots, but the tech seemed to determine gender from a potty shot, which was very obviously boy. I am just shocked at the size of the "parts" for just under 13 weeks. Is this normal??!
Despite what people here often say, 13 weeks is NOT too early for a potty shot. My tech, who is a gender expert, says it's not too early and he can see the difference no problems. I guess he's right when it comes to your potty shot :bigsmile:
The unfortunate thing is not all techs are gender experts though and many of them get it wrong with potty shots. It's also possible for them to take pictures of things that are not accurate at this stage such as baby's hand or cord between legs making a girl look like a boy, or that they didn't focus the wand quite right making a boy look like a girl. I would not rely on potty shot at this point, really wouldn't.
Atomic, I know what you mean...you've given me a little bit of doubt about this because something doesn't look right - the boy parts look HUGE compared to other boy potty shots I've seen from 13 weeks, so I 'me wondering if it could be something else?? It would be hard to believe this isn't a boy (plus the tech kept saying "there's a lot going on down there"), but I guess I won't shop yet.
Even if my gender expert tech gave me a gender prediction at 13 weeks, I didn't announce or shop until after my 20 week scan. I agree that a 13 week potty shot should be interpreted cautiously. But it's just not the case that 13 weeks is too early, like at 11 weeks, then it IS too early.
What do you think about this picture though? Could this be anything but boy parts?!
I agree these parts are looking big, but I really don't know what else it could be. It doesn't look like a cord either. It has the shape of boy parts, so I do think it is boy parts.
It could very well be boy parts. But could also be hand or cord or that the wand wasn't focused right and it's even like part of the stomach or something. Could be swollen girl parts.Quote:

I had a tech look at a potty shot at 13+6 and she could tell gender, but 13+6 is NOT 12+6!
So I had an appointment with my OB this morning and she looked at the scan pictures for me. She does NOT think this is a penis at 12 weeks but doesn't know what it is! She said it's just too big, too "straight," and not lined up with the pelvic structure. She said it could be hand or even foot curled up under baby. Such a strange picture! Anyway, she said it definitely could still be a boy, but this shot most likely isn't showing it.
Anything is possible from this shot. Something is definitely curled between the legs interfering with the nub shot.
I was told boy ("looks to far out to be a girl") at 12+4, with 3 boys already I didn't doubt it would be a boy. I had a daughter and was totally shocked (in an amazing way!) I hope you have what your hearts desires but I'd wait til 16 weeks for a gender scan :) xx
Also look up Thorz' first ultrasound as she was told boy based on something weird between the legs and it was totally a girl.
