Swaying after 35

:wave:I am 37 and on the verge of beginning my final attempt at TTC a baby girl. Atomic brought some information to my attention that I had been unaware of regarding O+12 and its lack of reliability for women over 35. I had planned on using that method for my attempt but am now planning a Shettles attempt. It got me thinking about what other women in this age bracket were experiencing. Please share with me if you would, what did you find useful, frustrating, successful, disappointing? Thanks so much and I am really looking forward to hearing your plans and or experiences!:bighug:

I am only just 34 but I have been around the gender swaying boards for over 10yrs now and to be honest I have tried everything. The only consistent theory I have seen seems to be diet. I can look back and see why I have all girls, with my minimal protein, high sugar, high empty calories and carbs galore. If people have all of one gender and get a fluke opposite there always seems to have been some major lifestyle shift that has happened changing their way of life...eating habits, exercise or job stress levels. Might be wrong...just what I have noticed.

Thanks P.O.P. I have never been a healthy eater by any stretch of the imagination, but I do like meat so maybe that is what got me my boy:wink:

Hey PD, I am swaying boy and am 35. I've been ttc for 13 months now, and had 2 m/c this year also. I'm on my second round of Clomid right now. Anyway, I do agree with PoP, I tend to think diet is the biggest thing, but I am not convinced that this boy diet for so long is helping me to get pg. In fact, I think gaining the extra weight has hindered my fertility somewhat, so I am cutting back now.

This is my opinion about ttc after 35 in general: I think you can sway and give it a shot for a while, but it may be that our fertility is waning a bit anyway, for one reason or another, and at our age, I think it's more important for me to just get pg than mess around with all this swaying anymore, although I am still taking some supps which are more for egg health and healthy and fertility in general.

I think swaying pink is way harder, though, because you are trying to dampen your fertility somewhat, so I think that you could try the whole timing thing for a girl for a while, but then if you get to the point where I am, you just gotta get pg and not worry about it. Maybe rely on some diet, maybe eating less protein and meat or something. I personally don't believe timing has anything to do with it anyway.

I'll be 39 in October and I'm swaying for a year now without results :tissue:

I conceived my DD2 at 34, she was 1st cycle success (no swaying of course). I'm not sure if few ages can have such an impact on fertility but if it is the case, I'd say go for it ASAP! Also try some fertility boosters like CoQ-10 and Royal Jelly/Bee Pollen (although this one is supposed to sway blue)

I am also taking 50 mg DHEA to make sure I'm Oing.

Before swaying, I was perfect example of girlie lifestyle: no breakfast, no excercise, always felt exhausted, loads and loads of Coke and low fat dairy....

pinkdreams- I think try to do the diet the best you can because timing not always works. ( I also did Shettles for DC3)

Lola- I reeeeely hope you get that BFP this time!!!
Im also 37 but I don't just want to get pregnant I want to get pregnant with a boy so I can't stop the damn diet!:mad:

Zivic- I didn't even know you are trying for a year now! I know how is that to try for long sorry you have to get a bfp with Lola!

I am 36 and this month will be my third attempt.....I do think timing is the least important factor of swaying....I am doing the diet and will be dtd right thru O...Good luck!

I am so grateful that you shared your stories with me! I am really cracking down on the diet, because it does make a lot of sense to me. I think we will just BD everyday from AF to 3 days before O and see what happens. If that doesn't work I plan on just going a day closer to O every month until we get that BFP!I hope we all get our babies soon!!!

No it did not worked. Then I did IG with MSU and that also didn't worked.So maybe Im crazy to try again:worry:

I'm 36 (turning 37 in 2 months) and just finished my third month TTC. I've always gotten pregnant very easily in the past, so was very frustrated that it didn't happen right away this time, especially as I've been following the low everything diet pretty strictly and am desperate to eat again! Personally, I wouldn't bother with timing, but if you have the patience to try for several months and it will make you happier with your sway, go for it. Our last two attempts, we BD up until a day before O, but this month we BD through O. I also dropped the Sylk this month and used Rephresh only very sparingly. I think diet is the only thing that has scientific evidence to back it up, so I want to make sure I don't take too long to get pregnant, or I'll end up dropping the diet and my whole sway will fall apart.

I fear I will find myself in that same position Mocha. My sons were both conceived first month of trying but I was younger then and hope that I don't have too hard of a time trying to make this girl. I really hope we all have success soon!!

Mocha, you are exactly right....the longer it takes, the more likely you are to want to drop the diet. I am on the verge now since I've gained so much over the past 13 months on the boy diet.

I was 36, almost 37 when I conceived DS 3 (I wasn't swaying, but I may as well have been swaying blue because I was eating straight off the boy diet and the only thing I did do was a cutoff, which didn't work) and then 38 when I conceived DS 4 and that was a pink sway with the cal-mag-Vit D-B6-vitex supps and a slightly modified diet, but I got pg the month I was taking a break and trying to gain back some weight, of course. Since it was an accident, I didn't take an antihistamine or do a J and D like I had been planning. I didn't do timing with him because I wanted fresh egg and fresh sperm.

Got pg second month of trying with DS 3 and it took 4 or 5 months with DS 4, but that was only because I was breastfeeding and not ovulating regularly. I got pg with him before I even got AF...I had Oed very early after I had DS 3 and then nothing for several months, then I caught the first eggo. My point is that you can still get pg easily even if you are over 35...I'm not trying to scare anyone OFF of trying to sway, just that I want everyone to pick their battles and my experience with the Mature Mamas on IG is that none of us ever got pg trying for an O+12.

I really appreciate your advice and sharing your experiences. I didn't take it as trying to scare me off of swaying at all! My first 2 were conceived on the first try and it honestly hadn't occurred to me that it would be any different this time:shrug: (in my mind i'm still in my twenties LOL honestly I have to ask my DH how old I am often because I think I block it out) I just feel like the cut off method seems less reliable than O+12, although try as I may I can not find any real statistics on this. Again I truly appreciate input!!

The timing stats are SO all over the map that I think the only logical conclusion that can be made is that timing doesn't sway. Any variation in one study or another, is only due to sheer luck because there are other studies that say the exact opposite. I only keep timing in the mix because so many people have heard of it and it isn't ~that~ hard to keep it in (cut-off, anyway. O+12 IS really hard.)

Well, and with regard to timing, I think the thing a lot of us face after a while of ttc with no luck, and at our ages, is that we will need to drop it and get the egg and sperm to meet as quickly as possible. No cut-offs for girls or one time shots for boys. So, it's nice to know that it probably isn't a big sway factor anyway!

I know dd#3 was conceived for me right on ovulation day. With my other two, I do not know.

Thanks Demeter. I decided to just try to have all my other sway factors in place and not concern myself too much with timing. In the 2WW now, so hopefully it will work!

I'm 37 and I did 0+12. I'm also in the 2 week wait so I guess time will tell if it worked for me or not.

I really wanted to try O+12 "just because" but at the last minute I freaked out about only having one attempt, so we DTD day before O with an 8 day abstinence then DH released 3 times in 36 hours and we did an O+8ish. The first one I did the works, benadryl, sylk, J&D and both attempts DH "took care of business" then shallow release at the very last second LOL! I couldn't risk being caught up in the moment, that's how we got DS2. The after O attempt I didn't use the benadryl because I wasn't particularly moist and I laid there for a few minutes after DTD then did a J&D. Both of our PH levels were awesome both times so hopefully it worked!!

Fx for you. I think I panicked with an over kill of drugs benedryl zyrtec sudafed acijel as lube rephresh in the morning so I'm not really liking my chances on a better note I have a 40th birthday in two weeks so if I'm not pregnant I will get totally drunk!!! I've made up my mind

Im 37 and going by my past when conceiving my 2 girls, I pretty much was living a true boy diet & lifestyle muscles and all, so for me the only option I feel I have is going by my personal lunar months which you can only get from an astrologer, (not the silly internet chinese ones).

So Im very limited with the months that I can ttc, but now I can see why I would have only kept having girls, this year Ive only got August which was unsuccessful and this month, & if this months is unsuccessful then I need to wait till next year ttc on the 1st of April :hair:

I know I will fall pregnant on one of the months :pray: :bluesperm: My cut off age is 39.

Can I ask what the Astrologer told you about the months? I consulted one as well for my sway, and he gave me days that were better to DTD and conceive based on moon signs, Chinese astrology, etc. But not specific months.

He goes by my birth date & time of birth, this is why its purely made 4 myself, some people get 5 shots in a yr others get 1 or 2, thats the down side, but if it works then its worth the wait, his success rate has been astonishing, he's a retired astrologer only done my calendar cause he's a friend of my friend.Gl

GL Belle, you deserve to have a good night of drinkin' if you are not pg and having your 40th! FX for everyone in the 2ww.

What sucks the most for me is that NOW we have the bloody male factor issue, so we don't have all the time in the world to ttc for years and "see what happens." I know I'm only 35 (nearly 36), but time is ticking and if it takes most couples with severely low sperm count like 5 years to conceive, my ovaries might be packing up shop by then. BOO to that!

Thanks AS. I've been out of order with terrible bronchitis I'm still quite weak and feverish but alot better than yesterday. CapricornAquarius I'm sorry you feel like you have to wait for April, I'm not that patient. Did you check to see if it was right for your daughters? According to astrology I should have girls so I'm not putting much thought into that.
Lola in love thanks for your well wishes, you need to keep positive and that you only need one incy sperm. I'm 37. It's my close friends 40th who rang me last night to tell me she maybe pregnant.

Oh AS thank you but I'm quite certain I'm not pregnant. Don't know about my friend though. I did a 0+12 with the works in antihistamines and lubes and I think I was thrown off abit with temps because I was coming down with the flu.

Im 37 and conceived my 2 other sons first try but when i was 33 and 35 and after researching i decided to do the strict ig diet and o+12 then when it came to the day my test showed i was ovulating and to dtd in the next 2 days ,i decided to just dtd that night after it showed positive that afternoon,i ovulated the next morning so it was definately not o+12 they were there waiting ,but im feeling even after all that i might not be because of the way the girl diet reduces fertility..i also didnt use any douche or jel i think that would be way too much imo..so im in the 2ww now i guess well soon find out.

I did pretty much the same thing sweetsister. I panicked at the thought of only having 1 attempt in what I felt was a great month. I ended up DTD the day before O and then about 7 hours after O. I decided that timing wasn't very important from what I had read. I also got pregnant first shot with both boys at 31 and 34. I am in my 2WW and no BFP yet but a few other symptoms that leave me feeling optimistic! I'll keep my FX for you!!

Good luck with your sway. I was actually reading up on it, trying to decide if I would go for IVF attempt #3 or mayyyybbe sway. I just read this quote:

a few hours after I posted under another thread that I consider myself obsessive( at least with my quest for knowledge and understanding of things), sooo no swaying for me at this point anyway.
