Is there a preferred time of day to DTD for blood sugar levels?

Sorry if this has already been asked or if it is a pointless question but I don't seem to be able to find the answer anywhere.

We are going for frequent release but only DTD once hopefully a couple of days before O. I was wondering does it matter what time of day you DTD? My blood sugar will be low in the morning and will stay low until lunchtime so would that make morning best or would it be best in the evening after my supper when my blood sugar would initially be higher but then will drop all night until lunchtime the next day?

Your blood sugar level is lowest in the morning before you eat since you haven't had any food for several hours.

Chromium, I have read, lowers blood sugar levels and often diabetics take it for that reason and exercise can lower levels too.

All my DDs were conceived at night!

This is nothing to do with blood sugar, but I was looking for something else and stumbled across this study which suggests that sperm count is higher in the evening than it is in the morning (which would suggest morning for a girl):

Wow Zanacal that is interesting, I had always been told that the count was highest in the morning. So hard to get straight answers with all this stuff! Thanks for the interesting link.

No doubt there's another study which says the exact opposite Hoping!!

A-HA!! I knew I had read that somewhere, thank you!!! I embarrassed myself on one of the early threads on this site becasue I couldn't find that d@mn study!! I should never read studies on days when I have no printer ink because they vanish without a trace. I have like 5 billion studies in my favorites. :/

Anyway, what my research indicates is that even in the studies that claim DTD in the morning is highest sperm count, morning or night makes no difference in terms of sperm count because the difference is SO tiny. Like 87 million vs. 88 million, which is really not a big difference at all.

It's not when you DTD that matters, it's the several days while the fertilized egg divides in your reproductive tract. And even then, blood sugar is not a make or break thing - remember, all the girl moms out there WERE occasionally eating while they were TTC!!!

I would DTD when it's convenient for you and just be sure to skip breakfast, avoid constant snacking, and not eat great huge Christmas-dinner style meals that take hours to digest, esp. around ovulation and during the 2WW (or at least the first several days, anyway.) Once the bean is implanted (you'll get a BFP) you can normalize your diet again.

TOTALLY this. I hope everyone keeps that in mind when they read a lone study that seems scary or confusing...you have to look at the overall trend of the studies (or lack thereof) and see where it fits in, in terms of biology and real-world experiences. Even a study that seems very well done, if it isn't supported by biology and real-world experience, has to be looked at with a skeptical eye because some things are just luck.

Me and dh never dtd in the morning....i mean never its always at night.May not be a difference but still interesting.

Does anyone though?? Boy moms, girl moms, who hops out of bed and then hops right back in again?? :)

Umm, my hand is up! We often DTD in the morning, like the early hours before it's time to wake up. DH always wakes up 'ready' and I'm far less likely to protest if I'm sleepy and of course far less exhausted than I am at the other end of the day :D

I liked having our attempt in the morning because I didn't have hours of stressing about the finer details beforehand and the Aci-jel I used had to be put in the night before (so I couldn't be tempted to add too much too close!). DH didn't bother with a bath or shower beforehand but he's always boiling after a night's sleep anyway.

I'm with Zana on this one - morning is a convenient time here too lol

Hmm...that's actually a great idea about the lack of stress beforehand!!

Right alot of couples dtd first thing in the morning and i just may add it to my sway since it would likely be less stressful.

I was thinking about this and I did think of one warning - sometimes I can't sleep if I have to go somewhere first thing in the morning...even if it's just to the dentist's office it keeps me up and I worry and fret. So if you are prone to midnight tossing and turning, then DTD in the evening might actually be better. To each their own!!!

I was thinking this also lol i was wondering if i would be laying in bed not sleeping all night and stressing about the bd...then again lack of sleep lowerss T right? ugh

I wish we could take a blood test before and after a sleepless night! Personally I think that for ~me~ it would raise T and not lower it, because I get so worked up over whatever-it-is that I'm worrying about. The one time I do think losing sleep lowered my T was when I had very little sleep for several weeks and it was from taking care of kids in the night, not from some imminent challenge that I had to take on.
