How long does it take to ovulate after coming off bcps?

This probably varies from person to person greatly but I always had really regular cycles and went on impalanon after the birth of my second son, then when that expired I went on the pill (sprintec). I took my last pill Christmas Day, starting my period on the 29th of Dec and I'm now on cycle day 15. Decided to take opks to have an idea of my ovulation, and who doesn't like playing with their own pee? Lol! I thought I would find it stressful but it's actually kinda fun but anyway I will attach a picture but it doesn't seem that I am anywhere near ovulation (I have no experience reading these)Attachment 29304
What does it look like to you experienced ladies? Also how long did it take you to ovulate after coming off bcps?

I do not have any experience with reading those... I use the menstrual calander premium app. I cost me like 3 USD or something. I just put all the info in there and it gives me a menstrual forecast, ovulating forecast etc. You can also put information in about your temp, intercourse etc.

It works like a charm for me it's always accurate for both my period and ovulation.

Perhaps it can make things easier for you unless you don't wanna give up on playing with your pee LOL

I can always find other ways to play with my pee! :rofl:
I have an app to track my periods and fertility that I've been using since I've been on the pill because they always ask when my last period was and I forget so I like to have it all logged. It says I'm supposed to ovulate in 2 days but I'm not sure how accurate it is having just come off of birth control pills.

I wouldn't trust those fertility tracking apps especially if you've been on BC. I know I find those apps completely useless because my O tends to vary.Your OPK from CD15 looks like you're possibly getting close to O time although your body can gear up to O then bail. You want the test line (left side closest to where you drop the urine) to be as dark as or darker than the control line for an OPK to be positive. :) And yes, those tests can be quite addictive! lol

Thanks! I was confused because cd 11-13 the test line is getting darker and then cd 14 it got light again and then today on cd 15 it's darker however I did take the test for cd 14 early in the morning and later read they're more accurate in the afternoon so that could be why that one is lighter.
Question about our attempts/bd frequency;
We dtd last Monday and this Monday. Should we now go again in 4 days? Or at positive opk?

It is incredibly variable...BUT, many women who have regular cycles naturally O at a normal time for them or not much later coming off the pill.

I personally O on all forms of hormonal birth control (haven't tried Depo, Mirena, or Implanonn), so no delay for me!

It looks like you will probably get a positive within the next few days, I'd guess.

I actually have no idea if I've been ovulating or not! I took a couple of opks a few months ago while still on the pill but didn't get a positive but I only took one or two around the day i thought I was going to ovulate so I could have theoretically been ovulating the whole time but the bcps could have been preventing conception by not allowing fertilized eggs to implant.

It is extremely rare to O on combined BCPs taken properly, bc the way they prevent pregnancy is (generally) by inhibiting O; I'm basically a freak. They do not interfere with implantation specifically. The only reason they sometimes prevented pregnancy for me was due to the extreme drying effect on my CM, and that I often used lube unfriendly to sperm, but most of the time they were not effective contraception for me.

I highly doubt you Oed regularly on the pill (I've yet to encounter anyone else who does), but I did want to mention the possibility no matter how rare. If you didn't always take your pill on time or skipped pills, it's certainly possible you've had an ovulatory cycle on BCPs at some point, but multiple cycles/regularly is unlikely.

The apps are junk for anyone who doesn't have a spot on regular cycle.

Yes most of hte OPK are meant to be done in afternoon, not morning. I do want you to be in with attempt even if it's just getting really dark though. IT's better to be a little early, than too late, and a lot of people will hold off on trying if the test is ALLLMOST there waiting for the true positive, and then by the next day, it's too late, already happened. WHen in doubt, attempt. EArlier than optimal still has a chance, too late has no chance.

I would go every 4 days from here on in.

I'd do Friday am personally! If that's not possible then tonight. Not a huge difference regardless.

Yes, usually 1-2 days after your first positive. Sometimes later the same day or 3+ days after, but that's not as common.

That is up to the individual's discretion really. Personally, I think Mon to Thurs is a pretty slim chance of conception and Friday may be too late. When in doubt, attempt. You can get pregnant from an attempt too early, not too late though.

:agree: Yeah not a huge diff. either way so I'd try to err on the side of being in with attempt sooner rather than later. Later can be too late, sooner would stil be a chance of conception. If you can't decide, flip a coin.

This is going to be our last child and it's more important to me that we have a girl rather than concieve ASAP although I'd feel blessed with a third boy, I'd rather limit my chances of conception if there is a chance it could give me a daughter. I did put the attemp in on Friday. Our son was conceived either outside of my fertile window entirely or while pulling out so from our experience we conceived pretty quick at least 5 years ago so we will see!
It's not worth stressing over.

How I got my 3rd boy, stressful times, vomited, looking back must have vomited the bcp! ops never mind my 3rd boys is so sweet!

BR, that's a determined soul! Generally missing just one pill and possibly not all of one isn't enough to allow O. Clearly your DS3 was meant to be.
