I've read alot on this brilliant website lately. I'm trying for a girl. We dtd tues but today I got a really strong positive Opk (Friday) should we dtd again or leave it? Don't want to have too many attempts? Would Tuesday's be enough? I'm scared to do it again incase I get a boy with two attempts.
Don't know if it makes much of a difference but just to add that we tend to fall pregnant quickly (previous boys were both conceived on first month of trying).
I would wait until tomorrow maybe. Today would be a second attempt but I believe tomorrow would just count as one attempt. I think Tuesday would be too far out to conceive from if you don't ovulate until tomorrow or Sunday.
Also, it depends on how quickly you want to get pregnant. If you're in a hurry then BD again today. Two attempts is only slightly more blue.

Oh dear haha... It's Friday night now. Don't know what to do! Would it not be classed as two attempts Maiden as I will probably ovulate tomorrow if Opk positive tonight.
thats almost 4 days apart so i would go for it late on tonight or early tomorrow morning ?

Sorry I only just now saw that, I would have had you DTD again on Fri (day of pos OPK) because you would prob. not even O for a day or even two after that first positive. Tuesday to Saturday is a LONNNG time to go and very low odds of conception.
But, no matter what you did, it was the right thing to do. :)
There is no magic to either the 4 day pattern OR the positive OPK, you guys. It's just a handy way of doing it. The thing is, you can get pregnant from an early attempt but not a too-late one, so it makes NO SENSE to hold off a few hours trying to get it spot on e4d. and you may end up missing O if you do.Quote:

Just looking at the wider picture here, but if we had been trying for a boy, would it have been best to keep on going after the Opk? To have done it again the day after/day after that? We stopped at Friday and I won't dare do it again for just over a week.

If you were trying for a boy, you would have been BDing every other day since AF then once you got a positive OPK, you'd BD that day, the next morning, and then again at night, then skip a day and resume every other day in case you Oed later.
Thanks maidentomother. Why do you need to BD every other day for a boy from AF if sperm dont normally live longer than around 4 days? (If that's right?) Is it to do with changing of PH or something?
Sorry for all the questions, just want a better understanding of all of this as I find it interesting.
