Saying hello. Dreaming of a daughter.

Hi ladies
I just wanted to introduce myself after doing a lot of reading of the amazing stories and women on this site.

I'm a mum of 2 gorgeous boys, based in the uk and am considering having one last baby hoping for a much longed for daughter. However my chances are slim, as I just turned 40.

Maybe Im mad, I have a lovely life as it is, but I feel unable to give this hope for a daughter up, while there's still a chance. This site is amazing and has given me such an insight into other people's approaches. GD is a lonely thing to feel and I appreciate seeing how others chase their dreams with such guts.

My baby is 9 months old and I've just stopped breastfeeding. I feel like it's make up our minds time. Now or never. Scary stuff.

Hi faith and blueplease.
I'd prefer to do HT but at my age it's very unlikely to work. So I don't really know at the moment. Time is a pressure obviously. Magic wand anyone??? I'm guessing you are hoping for a boy? And a girl after 4 boys Faithinpink! I bet your house is fun with 4 boys in it!

I wish I had a magic wand lol.. Yes I would love a girl to complete my family but think I'm just a boy mum and cant make girls .
My fingers are crossed though very hard , praying and swaying .
I'm in the 2WW atm .
Are you going to do the diet etc ??

I feel like that after just 2 boys! But it is possible. I think so, I'm just supposed to be done now...

I'm in research mode. Exploring HT and preparing for pre testing in the vain hope my hb will be up for at least that within the next two months while my body readjusts after bc and bfeeding. Baby is not sleeping just now so it's not a good topic right now. I'm trying to give him some space and I'll bring it up again in a month or so.

However if I was to try naturally, yes I would do diet, timing, supplements, superstitious things, whatever! Is that what you are doing? When is af due? TWW is total torture.

I wish I could do HT but not affordable ATM or should I say NEVER �� will be.
Yes I'm doing diet have been on it for 14 weeks now. I was doing exercise 5-6 days a week but had to stop. Am thinking If im not pregnant ill probably start again .
I hate the 2ww. AF is due in 7days.

Hello and welcome :) My cousin has just fallen pregnant at 39 (first baby)unplanned, she doesnt know gender but it can happen , shes worried about being 40 with a newborn but age is just a number. Gl for your sway xx

I am 40 with a baby! She will be fine. It's not like you hit 40 and fall over decrepit! I don't feel any different from 10/15 years ago. Until you look at fertility stats then it's as if you are dead already ��

I got my girl at 42 (pregnant at 41) after FOUR boys so I can assure you it is possible!

:agree: if anything I feel much MORE energetic as I wasted so much energy in my 20's worrying over everything and I'm a much more laid back mother now than I was with my older ones.

The stats on older pregnancies, believe it or not, comes from data in the !!!! 1600's !!!!! and is completely garbage, we're finding. Our odds of conceiving with proven fertility even over 40 are still decent, it's not as dire as they make it out to be. full article on this here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/late...d-article.html

Hello bigbump and welcome. There's quite a few of us Brits on the forum I've found. I did my pretesting in Feb and I'm off to HRC in Newport Beach for ER in just 3 weeks. If you're interested in HT you can fill out the form to request a consult with Dr Potter and do the pretesting beforehand so that your consult is as useful as possible. Might just give you a better idea of what your chances are. I'm always happy to chat about the HT side of things from a uk perspective (although I'm def no expert - but the ladies on this forum are incredible).

Atomic I will have a read of that when I get a minute! I like being an older mum. There are benefits to being younger too of course but I rarely feel old in the school playground or the baby groups (unless the others are grandmas!!?) your little girl is very cute btw!

It is indeed my first (and probably only) cycle. Going for ER in May and then fingers crossed I'll be going for FET later in the year if there's a little girlie to transfer. My sticky is in current cycles if you want to have a look but feel free to contact me too.

Yes I was able to experience both ends of the spectrum having my first two as what many would consider too young (21 and 25) and then my last two what many would consider too old (39 and 42) and people had plenty to say about both LOL. Both had advantages and disadvantages altho I will say esp. my husband is much more patient and loving with this batch than the first two. :)

My husband has a big age gap between his eldest and youngest too. Eldest is 23 and youngest is our 9 month old! Some of his friends have had a lot to say about it, as mine did when I met him and he already had 3 kids! I don't let it get to me.

My oldest son was 21 when my daughter was conceived! Weirdly we were actually married that whole time, just had a huge age gap for money reasons and blah blah blah. People thought we'd lost our gol-durn minds haha. I like to joke that my uterus was only 3 days from retirement. My mom will introduce me to strangers as, "this is my daugher and she has 5 kids and they're all with the same man!" LOLOLOLOL Just can't let it bother ya! :)

I don't. If anything it embarrassed my oldest stepchildren that their dad was having babies again but they are OK about it now. Love your mum's intro!Does she assume people will think you have had 2 marriages and goes to set them straight from the get go?? It's nice to hear from someone with a similar age gap tho, we are few and far between!

Yes exactly, I guess she thinks that everyone would assume two husbands (and nothing at all wrong with that, she did it herself that way with a very big age gap between me and my much younger siblings from her 2nd marriage). I don't think she ever gave it a second of thought and probably doesn't even realize she does it. I think she probably thinks the 5 kids is the shocking part. :)

Yeh, people are shocked that my husband has 5 kids too, then it blows their minds the age gap. I actually quite enjoy shocking them. Haha! Anyhoo, he will have 6 if we have another. ;)
