BFP Insight Please!!!

Ladies I am pregnant!!

I am curious about a few things and would love your take on my situation!

CD1 was June 11, I used a OPK and had 4 high fertility days and only 1 Peak day. We BD on the first 'high fertility' night (CD21/July 1st), and then again on the Peak night (this was CD25/July 5th). FF says I ovulate July 6th based on my notes, making today only 4dpo/CD30... and the last 48 hours I have had heightened smell, headache, HORRIBLE back pain, and ALOT of bloating. SO because of these crazy symptoms (which i never had this early with DS) I took the test today knowing it was extremely early and it came up with a VERY VERY DARK PINK LINE indicating pregnant!! This is very early and the line is insanely dark... I am not sure what this means if anything at all. DH says twins... is this a thing? Could an early detection mean girl? with DS I tested positive at 15dpo. Perhaps it depends on the person. This is just crazy early.

Also, I used a digital clearblue test that told me I am 2-3 weeks pregnant.. how does this make sense??? My BD days were 5 days ago (Peak) and 9 days ago (High fertility)... how the heck am I 2-3 weeks pregnant? Do these tests just detect amount of HCG levels and assume the higher the level the longer you've been pregnant? So if it was twins it would just infact think I've just been pregnant longer?
Also I should note that we BD on CD14/June 24th (Low fertility - and a good week away from my high fertility reading and 15 days from Peak) but since I was a week away from even being remotely fertile I don't see this as a possibility.

Any insight would be great. Kind of want an explanation as to the VERY EARLY positive and VERY PINK LINE....

First off, congratulations and H&H 9 months!!! Secondly, there's absolutely no way you're only 4 dpo. FF can be wrong at times. I am an example of that and your situation is similar to what I've experienced with this baby. You can look at my BFP chart linked in my siggy. FF originally told me I O'ed on CD27 but I got a BFP on CD30 and I had an early scan to confirm that O was actually around CD22. All FF does to detect ovulation is use various info from your chart and calculates it's estimation of O based on an algorithm. Obviously you O'ed much earlier than FF is saying. Can you post your chart? More than likely you conceived from BD on June 24th which would make much more sense in regards to your HPT results. The high and peak readings you got were likely detecting the rise in estrogen and HCG (which is similar in chemical structure to LH) because you were already pregnant. The SAME thing happened to me my BFP cycle. FF hadn't detected O for me yet but I started getting high readings on my CB OPKs so I figured I was finally gearing up for O. I was actually about 7 dpo at the time and got a BFP a couple days later. I think that is what's going on with you and you're likely anywhere 12-16 dpo based on BD on June 24th. Also I had spotting today. I thought it was implantation bleeding, But sounds like implantation occurred awhile ago. I got a low reading June 24/CD14 but maybe the little swimmers hung around for awhile.
I did have a weird dream that night lol. If was of a little briwn haired girl with pig tails and water wings in a pool trying to swim/climb into this tube vacuum type thing and I walked away to come back to later moms telling me to watch her lol. I thought it was weird and DH said maybe it was the girl trying to get to the egg in the falopian tube lol. I said no it's too early. Maybe he was right lol...

I think you are pregnant from a lot earlier and FF is wrong about the O date.

As I said in the TWW post with the pain you are experiencing it could possibly be ectopic. The bleeding, spotting, bloating and nausea can also be symptoms. I could also be a perfectly healthy pregnancy but as ectopics can be dangerous you should go get checked out as soon as possible.

Well I know how that shock feels! lol I had gone to my RE appt. to discuss starting Femara+trigger+IUI for my next cycle but I was already pregnant and didn't know it! The bleeding you're having, is it red or pink or brown? Bleeding can be concerning in early pregnancy but sometimes it's nothing at all. I bled from week 6 to week 7 with this baby. I second what Purple said and think you should see your doc to get checked out. An early scan would be good to have.

You can't get a positive pregnancy test at 4DPO. You ovulated before you thought you did and conceived (and that also explains the darkness of test)

I've seen lots of people with super dark single tests and light twin tests so I would not put a ton of stock into that idea.

When was the last time you took a pregnancy test?

With my 4th, I was nursing a lot and did not have a period for several months, but we were BD unprotected. I was planning to sway once my cycle resumed and I was checking pH and stuff 2-3 times a day. I had what seemed to be a normal 5 day period and got all excited because I was like wahoo I can TTC now. A few weeks later I tested and got BFP and I was so excited because I thought i had a great sway. Then I went in for my early scan and much to my surprise there was a fully grown baby on the screen. I was quite a bit more pregnant than I thought. I caught the egg before I even had what I thought was a period and the bleeding was from losing a twin - but it can also be from other things too like placenta previa or subchorionic hemmorhage. It's def. possible to have even heavy bleeding for days on end and still come out with a baby at the end of it.

I didn't see ANY signs of fertility at all and I was testing pH 2-3 times a day. No EWCM, no cramps, no signs or symptoms of O at all (and I normally have really bad O pains and symptoms too) So even when you think you aren't fertile, your body can trick ya (even experts!! :)) :cheer: Good luck and pink dust!

I went for blood work and an ultrasound today to check if its ectopic. The spotting seems to have subsided. I should find out tomorrow afternoon. They also did an internal so fingers crossed my little bean is in the right spot.

Did they do the scan already or is that tomorrow? I think hcg needs to be at least 1000 - 1500 to see something on an ultrasound.

Are you still getting pain?

My hcg was 2500 yesterday but they are making me wait until next week for a scan still :(

Yes I had blood work and then an external and internal ultrasound scan. She said she couldn't see anything over my belly so had to do an internal but I still think it might be too early.

The symptoms I have are really tired, nausea, back pain on and off, bloating, Not really cramping just if I twist a weird way it hurts, I have crazy smelling sense, and headaches that just started. I just thought these were regular pregnancy symptoms.

The spotting has gone away and was browny red. I still have back pain on and off.
Are you having similar symptoms? I would have never thought there could be any issue if I hadn't posted my symptoms.

I don't really have any symptoms at all and don't feel pregnant. I just had a feeling that I should test on what I thought was cd3 before taking clomid again. It came up with a positive so I was pretty shocked as my period was completely normal.

I then googled and found out that this can often happen with ectopics so I have been quite worried that is what mine is. I have also hear stories of women having normal periods and then ending up with a baby (like atomic) so I am trying to be cautiously optimistic too.

It may just be too early to see anything too. They should have a better idea of how far along you are when you get the hcg levels back. Are they doing repeat hcg in a few days?

No they are not repeating. My doctor said I am 4 weeks 3 days now but thats based on my LMP of June 11. This is all so crazy.

Maybe you ovulated early in the cycle and you are only about 4 weeks. What test did you use? It will be interesting to hear what your levels are.

I got my HCG levels back. It was 361 which means the gestational age of the babe is 1-2 weeks i believe. Not sure what the means in terms of if there is a problem or what tho.

Congrats on the BFP and I hope everything works out for a sticky, healthy bean. I thought HCG could vary quite a bit and that's why it was important to do two tests to see how the numbers climb? Could you ask your doc to do two tests so you aren't stuck in limbo? :/

They need to do a repeat HCG, one test is not enough to tell you anything.

Most of the time with bleeding it is not ectopic. I know it's nervewracking but the vast majority of the time it's placenta previa or an SCH both of which can go on to resolve themselves.

I did the test today and my levels were 796. What does this mean? Two days ago they were 361.

That's good! They're supposed to double every two days!

The doubling is good news and IMO you probably ovulated around CD 14 even though the tests said low fertility...it makes sense with your hcg and test saying 2-3 weeks. :) congratulations again...H&H 9 months!!!

That is good doubling. You probably just ovulated earlier than you thought.

The pain would not start this early if it was ectopic so it must be something unrelated. Sorry if I scared you, it is just something on my mind at the moment.

Purple, I am glad you gave me a heads up as I am new to these symptoms and would have been very grateful to have caught an issue early on. I hope all goes well in your pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you!!

That is what we are all :pray: for but have to issue the standard reminder that there is no guarantee with this and people do have perfect HCG levels and do still have losses. The odds are very good that all is well with your pregnancy and you shouldn't worry, but I just feel like people are blindsided sometimes - a misconception that if your levels are good and you hear a heartbeat or whatever and then they are shocked when they have a loss. So please be happy that it is good news and all seems to be progressing well, just that it's not a guarantee, that's all.

I totally understand. I will feel better once we reach 12 weeks. The doctor wants to check on my levels again next week. The spotting has gone away and the back ache has lessened. I almost suspect the back pain being my ligaments loosening or something of that sort. Anyways, I will update next week!

Actually now I'm curious... If we DTD on Friday June 24th and one week later on Friday July 1st my OPK reading said High Fertility.... Was it in fact reading my high HCG levels as if it were a pregnancy test? So basically 7 days after we BD I got my positive reading I guess that I was pregnant...
I remember being confused too since that high fertility reading lasted 4-5 days before a peak. So again I guess it was almost acting like a pregnancy test at this point since I was already pregnant. So assuming I ovulated June 24th (even tho OPK said low) I would have a HCG read on the OPK around 7dpo?

:agree: your body starts making a hormone called "relaxin" and this can cause your ligaments to start loosening up almost right away (esp. with subsequent pregnancies) This is also why some of us develop heartburn and aching from varicose veins and constipation in early pregnancy too (because the baby is miniscule and not putting any pressure on anything yet, it's the relaxin making that stuff happen)

Maybe, but more likely it was the "secondary estrogen surge" which is a burst of estrogen your body releases about a week after ovulation. This helps maintain the lining a little longer before AF arrives (since if you are not pregnant, the corpus luteum starts breaking down at this point). This makes many people have "high" readings or even peak, and can also have EWCM and increased libido at this stage.

While fertility monitors and OPK can be used as a kind of primitive pregnancy test, they would not start to register until AFTER you would get a reliable positive on a pregnancy test (12-14 DPO). So it's much, much more likely this was the estrogen surge you were seeing on the sticks.

Would I have gotten that secondary estrogen surge even though I was pregnant? I just can't seem to make sense of the days. At all.

Yep, you get it normally in all cycles, pregnant or not.

Have you recorded all the days you dtd? It would be easier to see if you had a FF chart so we can visulise when AF was and when you got positive tests etc.

You can definitely still get another estrogen surge while pregnant. With this baby I kept getting high readings on my OPK which prompted me to test. It was right around 7dpo that the high reading started and I got a BFP the next day.

You probably ovulated day 15 or 16, maybe later as sperm can hang around a few days. It is great for your girl sway having just the one attempt :)

I waited a week to have another attempt because i didn't think i was even fertile since the reading was low. e4d was a bit much for us so after that one attempt i just waiting to get a positive OPK but looks like that didn't matter since I was already pregnant. I agree that i must have ovulated on CD 15 or CD16.
Actually CD 15 is when i had a crazy dream of having a daughter and we were in a pool and she had orange water wings on and she was trying to swim through a tube attached to the pool. It was super weird.

It was likely detecting the estrogen surge that happens around 7 dpo, pregnant or not. When I tested the next day, the line was super faint that I actually wasn't even sure if it was positive or not so I doubt anything would have showed the prior day. My beta two days later was only a 16. OPKs are not as sensitive as HPTs in detecting pregnancy hormone so they will be positive after the HPT is. I think more than likely you conceived from BD on the 24th of June.

Ok, well, I already replied to this yesterday but it's not here. Sigh.

Fertility monitors and OPK only detect pregnancy AFTER a pregnancy would be detected reliably by a pregnancy test. At 7 DPO, a pregnancy would not be detected reliably by a pregnancy test and thus could not have been detected by a fertility monitor. If you were 7 DPO and getting a "high" on your monitor that had to be secondary estrogen surge UNLESS you were not really 7 DPO!!
