So I have heard that the more you take over time can cause twins... and... that taking a high dose can cause twins. So how much do you have to take for twins?
... I am not going to take Clomid because I am allergic to the preservatives in it but I am wondering for other people who don't want twins and are taking it.
I know of a lady on another site who topped up her prescribed 100mg dose with another 100mg dose and is expecting 5:suprise: Including a set of id twins.

Some of us in HT have to undergo what is called a clomid challenge test where test test our FSH level on day 3, we then take clomid- 100mg for 5 days and then have our FSH tested again. I think it depends on your ovaries and the current state of the union with what is going on in there. I was 34, had a 6 month old with no fertility issues and I had 1 follicle that would likely reach maturity and a second that was growing but may not have caught up. My testing was very poor even though I had had 3 kids all first month trying. I have quiet ovaries.
All that to say, it is hard to say exactly how you may react to a drug. If you have Poli-cystic ovaries and don't know it(we see that too), you could have several follicles on clomid, if you are like me, maybe one.
5... is she insane! What site is that? Even being Catholic I would have to reduce that or terminate completly because of the health risk to the babies. And I would have to ignore my boys, hubbies, and my needs just to care for that many.
Either she took to much on purpose or the Dr's gave her a high dose!

Jon and Kate used clomid- she has PCOS and was to do an IUI but her RE refused. They went home and had sex with 8 mature follicles seen on u/s. She is no better than octomom and yet "we" celebrated her going against orders and risking those babies' lives.
It's really stupid to take a drug like that when you are dealing with life and death.
When you are presecribed clomid, your doctor will monitor you prior to ovulation to make sure you don't have 8 follicles ready to go and can make an informed decision for yourself!
Hubby and I hate Octomom, Jon & Kate, and most of the ones that choose to have all those babies after having at least 1 healthy child. It is different for the people who have no kids and use the drugs and conceive 4+ babies. Triplettes is high risk but ok for the people who can carry them and care for them without any issues.
In both of those cases, they knew what the possible outcome was and did it anyway. Intent is everything.Quote:

She was prescribed 100mg but upped her dose herself to 200mg! I would love twins which is how I found the site on my twin seekers journey, theres a bunch of people there taking unprescribed clomid hence the quints? I've had the clomid in the basket a number of times but never clicked through! If nature sends then to me then fantastic, but if I then think if I forced them and lost them due to having so many previuos pregnancies, then thats not right or fair is it:)Quote:

It's just really scary because you cannot know if you fall into the 1-2 follicle group or 6-8 follicles as a result of clomid group. It's a big, possibly high stakes risk.Quote:

I realize that my judgement says more about me than her because I am sure there are tons of folks doing the same to us! Recreational drug use is not advised nor supported on here though! LOL.
They are telling her what she wants to hear... and talking about her under their breath.
But it does make crazy reading though doesn't it lol!! To save you the 100 pages reading, I think in short, the Dr knew she was on 100, she self topped up, so the dr actually tells her its fine, they are all healthy but thinks he solely caused it! She the discovers one split making the 5 and most recently has been tired to post lately. Half way through her DH takes over posting, I think?, cos she's in hospital for something, but to date she's still going! Who needs soaps right!!Quote:

The Wilkinson quints resulted from this - but their doctor told them there was a chance of triplets. All were shocked with FIVE babies...
You can read about her entire pg on her blog - she went to great lengths to get to a doctor who knew how to care for a mom of higher order multiples, changed her entire diet to get the protein and calories for them to be heathy, etc. I think she carried to 35 weeks with quints! Now they are happy and healthy. They take vacations and such and enjoy life...
And I have 5 kids and really want more - though they were singletons I don't think "that many kids" means a deprived life for them no matter how they arrived!!!
35 weeks for 5 babies is pretty good!
No, it's not done on those not doing HT which is concerning because some docs play it pretty free and easy with the Clomid.Quote:

I totally agree and I know there are a lot of people out there who think "they got what they deserved" and are secretly delighted when either swaying or HT goes wrong for us. Because we all should have "just been happy with a healthy baby", KWIM?? I know a lot of people were snickering at me when I got pg again after 13 years only to end up with 2 more boys.Quote:

I wouldn't mind twins, just to even out my family, but I could never ever risk my life or my babies life/health. I don't want to leave hubby to raise the boys and any other babies that live... he can't cook so my kids would starve.
Twins is my max... I only have 2 utters!
I could understand upping a dose a little if she had been using it for a year or more and no pregnancy... but only with the Dr's approval!
