I know folate doesn't actually sway, but we are supposed to take it to prevent birth defects...but how much should we be taking in the absence of any health issues? I'm currently taking 1,000...is that enough?

I think the min Atomic recommends is 800mcg so 1000 sounds good unless you've had a history of miscarriage, in which case you'd need more. I think I was taking 2000mcg at one point.
I'd check with Atomic on that. The only reason I was taking thst much was because I'd had three losses in a row along with swaying a long time.

I like you guys to take 1200-1600 mcg but 1000 is probably enough.
I got a baby with a neural tube defect taking 800, so I like everyone to be taking more than I was since you may be getting less from diet.
Iron and iodine are ok for pink swayers, honestly. I have ended up giving them to lots of people who had been on diet a while and they still got girls so of any of the nutrients, I am ok with those two.
But the downside would be in order to get enough of the folate you'd end up taking too much of the others. So if that's all you can find then take a lower dose, some is better than none.

No, it's a great question. Folate is fine to take in higher amounts, no worries at all.
Folic acid, on the other hand, most people can take higher doses no worries but anyone with MTHFR mutation can't because their body can't use it properly and it adds up and can become toxic. Most people just pee out whatever their body doesn't use and many people like myself who do have a child with NTD actually are prescribed 4000-5000 mcg (which I took with my last two children - no NTD and both very healthy and bright.) As long as no MTHFR, fine to take folic acid, if you have any concern in that area then do folate (it's just soo expensive that some people cannot afford it, otherwise I'd have everyone take it.)
