Hi,
I have read all the threads related to BF. What is the recommended amount of Vitex to be taken when BF? I have also read that Vitex can sway pink, is that correct?
Thanks.

I was taking 800mg after the last feed at night to try and minimise the amount that was getting into the milk (I think, I'll have to check when I get home - I've stopped taking it now as I had a wobble).
I'm not sure if vitex itself sways pink, but BF certainly does.
ETA - it was whatever the recommended dosage on the pot was. I took 2 capsules once per day, but the pot said to take two capsules twice per day or something like that.
Would the Vitex cancel out the pink sway of the BF?
Do you need the vitex to extend your luteal phase? Or bring ov forwards?
I don't think it would cancel it out - I think BF sways because producing milk burns calories and takes your nutrients so you have less left for you... possibly also because most women lose weight while BF

Vitex sways pink too.
I feel nursing helped this sway because it caused me to have wonky cycles. I ovulated on CD30 on this last cycle that I had in July. I was also taking vitex to help with LP but also because I feel it can sway pink:) I was only taking it AF to O and about 160mg once per day.
I am thinking of taking it to bring on ovulation. LO is 14 months old and I had one AF (if I can call it that) about 4.5 months ago. Although I was taking Cerazette until yesterday, so that could have had something to do with the bleeding.
I have looked on the Holland & Barrett website and they do 100mg and 400mg capsules. Both are recommended to be taken 2 twice a day. A bit confusing really...
cerazette could definitely have affected things, how much are you still BF?
I had the ones from H&Bs too (the 400mg ones)
I still BF about 4-5 times altogether day and night, but not in 4 hour intervals or less. It is quite irregular.
you might find AF arrives on its own within the next 6 weeks, then... if you've only just stopped birth control pills I'd give that some more time to get out of your system before taking anything extra
The only thing is that my cycles were pretty long to start with before conceiving DS. I had two cycles of 60 days with O around CD40.
Yes, vitex is believed to sway pink. The stats on Ingender are quite good for vitex, altho I did conceive an opposite while both BF and taking vitex.
I took 400 mg in the morning, 400 at night with two of my sons and they did not seem to have any ill effects from it (but were older and eating a lot of table foods.) Take it from AF-O and then give your body a break for 2 weeks, start up again at AF.
Regardless of how it sways, I found it to be very useful for restoring and normalizing ovulation while BF. If you aren't ovulating, you can't get pg, and you can't conceive a child of your DG if you can't get pg!!
There are always exceptions, just that we have found that if a person who has regular cycles suddenly starts to have very long ones, that can indicate their sway is working for them. IF your cycle is always long and you've conceived boys, then that would not necessarily apply to you.
