think I've failed to ovulate :(

I feel so down about it all. Sorry if this turns into an essay.

This month should have been quite a good sway, had we ovulated when I thought we were going to. All the signs looked so promising, our BDing was good, used RepHresh, OPKs, stuck to the diet... and then I never got my temp shift and instead seemingly infinite pos OPKs!!

Here's my chart: it's worth noting that todays temp is the first "adjusted" temp after our clocks went back an hour, so is potentially 0.1C higher than it would have been had the clocks not changed as I don't think my body clock has adapted yet.

I feel like we've wasted so much money this month - a whole box of CBFM sticks, loads of OPKs (ICs and Tesco own brand), RepHresh... in fact I have barely any supplies left and no indicator of when/if OV will occur. For all I know I've already OVed... although my chart doesn't show it.

I'm fed up of the diet. I was only doing it until after OV this cycle as I need to regain weight quite urgently now... so the longer OV takes to happen, the more fed up I'm getting.

DH has been so good with his pre-attempt releasing but he's getting exhausted and fed up now too. It's not fun just DTD or releasing out of necessity and not for enjoyment day after day. We simply won't be able to keep it up much longer.

What probably went wrong was that my DS developed a tummy bug at the completely wrong time - just as OV was about to happen - and upped his BF. From what I've read, higher prolactin can cause the LH receptors on the follicles to become over enthusiastic, thus producing even more LH. This would explain the lack of OV and more days of pos OPKs, and OPK lines that are darker than normal. I just hope that it hasn't ruined my eggs this cycle by letting them mature too much...

I don't know what to do now, I'm so exhausted and this stress can't be helping :(

Oh Rainbow I don't know what to say? How long of as break were you hoping to take before TTC again? How long do you have to be on the LE diet before an attempt?

I must be horrible thinking you've wasted a month in time and money. It's so annoying. A few people on the smog thread have missed Ov after asking there DP/H's to abstain for such a long time. Or had to write off a month because things didn't go to plan It's just a shame that our bodies are sometimes unpredictable. TTC can be hard enough without throwing swaying into the mix.

Are you willing to stop now and just write it off and start eating normally? Proper tasty food often lifts my mood and nothing like a cup of tea and cake for stress.

You don't want to be TTC stressed as it sways blue doesn't it. I think you just need to give yourself a break and get your strenth up. x

you have to be on it for 6 weeks at least. I think I've now been on it for 9 weeks... it wasn't actually too difficult for most of that time, but I do like my food and had been really anticipating my 2ww so I could enjoy meat and breakfast again (in particular).

how can I possibly sway well in future if diet is the most important thing and if I can't spare the weight without becoming swayorexic?

this month really was our best chance what with still BF quite a bit which sways pink in itself and potential OV coincided with the new moon, biorhythms... everything seemed to line up.

you're so right that it's just horrible and our bodies know how to throw a spanner in the works sometimes. :( swaying is hard enough as it is without everything else. I think I'm mainly having a down-day today, I can feel that black cloud hovering!

I'm not sure stress sways blue particularly - I've seen studies that show that more stressed women (i.e. SAHMs, managers, those with long-term financial worries) are more likely to have daughters. It just makes life feel more of a struggle!

I don't know about writing off this month. If I do then it means the whole 9 weeks will have been wasted too as we won't be TTC until after Christmas after this cycle. The idea was to have a go this cycle and then take the time to regain weight and enjoy our first Christmas at home as a family.


I did go and get a cup of tea and a Wispa earlier, and you're right that did help a bit ;)

So are you doing frequent with O+12? Can DH do frequent release by himself so that takes the stress off of DTD for DTD sake.

I've looked at your chart and it looks like some crazy science spreadsheet to me (I don't temp) lol.

Maybe the stress swaying blue is more of an IG theory. But i'm a high stress person and have two boys! So am doing everything oposite this time so will be lighting the lavender oil and taking long baths. What I really need to do is ship my boys off! lol

How long have you had pos opk for maybe due to the stress of what you said your egg is having trouble getting out of the gate?It might still happen?I agree relax and eat rest the stress isnt helping...Ijust recently quit breastfeeding last two cycles i havent conceived and usually i get pregnant v vvvery easy..They say breastfeeding for some is like birth control,although others doesnt work obviously.So that would do it..I hear you about the diet im fed up with it too...

I know you feel p!ssed off right now and I don't blame you but you're not out yet this cycle and will hopefully ovulate eventually - if anybody can dust themselves down and get back to it then you can Rainbow!

I've had 6 pos OPKs so far (possibly another one tonight but as you know ICs don't show them as well and I didn't verify it with a Tesco one)

With the CBFM you can only use 20 sticks per cycle and then it stops asking you for them even if it didn't detect your surge. I did miss one day earlier on but all the rest have been "high" meaning that oestrogen is high but not picking up the LH surge.

SS - I know BF can be like that for some, which is why I think the increased BF over the weekend caused me to be less fertile temporarily. I've been charting a few cycles before this one (this is my first TTC one) and I have ovulated in all of them, so I know my BF levels have been low enough... I didn't have more than 1 pos OPK in any of those cycles either and had an obvious and sustained thermal shift.

Zana thanks for the PMA, I'm afraid I've cracked this evening and had a slice of my DHs Dominos pizza and two of their cookies... now I feel the guilt!

LL - I'm doing BD through O, not timing O+12 but if I see the opportunity we'll DTD around then too. At the moment aiming to BD every other morning, with DH releasing and discarding the night before. Aiming to DTD within 12hrs of his previous release each time, and have managed that so far each attempt this cycle. Initially we were only going to DTD on the day of the pos OPK, but with so many in a row we've had to carry on. A long lavender bath sounds like heaven - think I'll give that a try tonight and have an early night!

{hugs} Yes, this does rather put paid to DTD once on the night of your +OPK doesn't it? How frustrating for you. Good idea to relax and get an early night.

I know exactly how you feel, we missed an attempt in september because I was away for two days and then DH was too tired, this was so frustrating and depressing, thinking of all the effort and dedication we pink swayers are putting into this.

In July I geared up to OV, ewcm and everything but my temps stayed low and I OV-ed one week later.
So don´t despair please! it will probably come in a couple of days, or you might have OV-ed already and your temps aren´t showing it yet because of winter saving time.

I here you too about BD getting old this way and just becoming a duty instead of a pleasant, fun thing, you should have seen how excited DH was yesterday evening to DTD:-/. I have so much more comprehension now of couples that have difficulties conceiving and now I understand how lucky we really were conceiving the boys on first attempts.

I also lost a lot of weight at first doing the LE diet, went down to 105 in July, but when I started eating more sweets everyday and a little extra fat/protein the weight slowly creeped up. Now I´m a little nearer to a healthy BMI and I´m not loosing anymore on the LE diet.

Don´t feel guilty about the pizza and cookies, that´s nothing compared to your 9 weeks of diet.

well, I had another high temp this morning but I'm still cautious about getting my hopes up! even if I discard the high one on CD27 and add in a few more false high ones for the next couple of days FF still doesn't give me my crosshairs so I don't know what's going on...

thank you for sharing your experience, it's nice to know I'm not alone although disappointing that we have to go through this and miss chances!

I also feel for long term TTCers... I conceived within 3 months both times before, but even that felt like torture especially when AF would show up and dash all my hopes.

Do you feel that the lack of weight loss might not sway, though?

I think FF will have a hard time pinpointing OV for me this cycle because we changed the clocks right before I was about to OV, and my little one wakes up an hour earlier (well for him it´s the same time) and last night he woke up at 4 and 5 :sigh:

No I don´t worry about the lack of weight loss anymore. I didn´t get pregnant on the months I did loose weight and I really couldn´t loose more. I had to gain some because my bmi was under 18 so I was very scared I would stop ovulating and never get pregnant. Plus it was getting a problem with friends and relatives worrying I was anorexic (I really looked that way) and DH refuses to DTD if I didn´t gain some. And I usually have a couple of cheat days in 2ww that gives me a little that I loose before I OV
I think my bodies still thinks times are hard after 6 months of LE, to me that weights more than the lack of weight loss.
I still feel like I´m in girl zone, because my cm and temperatures are so different and I take the fact that it is taking longer to conceive as a good sign for a pink sway.
I´m not always this positive, that´s just because I think I O-ed yesterday-ish and I´m happy I got some sperm in me lol so at least we had an attempt! Then when AF shows up I usually get really depressed and fed up with swaying.
At the moment I´m in peace with my sway even if it´s far from perfect, I don´t worry about what could be better, because now I just want to get pregnant knowing I did a lot to take changes up to 50/50 and that is enough for me right now, just can´t wait to have another tiny baby in my arms :awe:

Seeing your chart it really looks like you´ve OV-ed on cd 26.
I don´t know anything about fertility monitors though, is it impossibile to get a high after ovulation?

if a CBFM doesn't detect a peak, it will carry on giving you highs until it does (or until oestrogen levels drop a lot)

definitely think the CM and long-term LE diet will be swaying in your favour! CM has dried up for you?

really really hope I ov'ed on CD26... we had some good BDing around then. :)

the clocks change has been at a crucial time for me as well! although interestingly the cycle I conceived my DS the clocks changed pretty much on OV day as well, so maybe it's a good sign ;)

rainbow, I'm hoping you'll get a surprise BFP!

When we were TTC the first month, we did everything right and my sway/diet was great. I just knew I'd get a BFP and when it didn't come, it really threw me for a loop. It appears that I never O'd that cycle (which doesn't surprise me b/c DH and I were grieving pretty hard after losing 2 dogs). I had to take a break to recharge and get my head on straight (which did wonders for me!) and then that's when we got our surprise BFP. I had been back on the diet only 2 days when I O'd and went on to conceive. I know it's cliche but it really seems like when you're not TTC, it just happens sometimes.

Hoping this round you get your BFP but if not, it'll happen soon. Hang in there! We'll cheer you on!

I O'd (and conceived) on July 8th. Since I was never, ever expecting to get preg, I never took any tests until exactly 2 weeks later (July 22nd). I felt really off that evening and a bit sick. I was wondering where in the world AF was since I should have gotten it by then. So....I took a test that evening and, KABOOM! The test line wasn't really dark but it sure wasn't faint either.

I'm hoping you got it this first time b/c that 2ww is like a 2 year wait sometimes! Especially when you're realllllly wanting to be preg.

Yes, I have less ewcm since swaying, used to have a lot for 3 days, now it´s mainly creamy and a little bit of ewcm on one day :)

OotB - sometimes I think that's the best way to spend the 2ww! Although my 2ww only used to be 11 days, hoping it's 10+ this time as it was only 8 days last cycle. You're right that it feels like a very long time, though.

I just wanted to let everyone know that there is no RULE that you must be on the LE Diet for a given amount of time. Your blood sugar and pH will drop almost instantly from the diet and supps, so if need be you can start the diet even as soon as the month you are going to try (so like, 2 weeks). Most people don't get pg that first month anyway. Is it ideal, no, but if you're in a big hurry or don't have much weight to lose, it may be an option to consider.

Testosterone/estrogen levels do take time to drop, but if you're doing a lot of other things to sway you prob. won't conceive the first month, and if you stick to the diet that month you'll end up with a full 6 weeks on diet without even really meaning to.

It depends on the kind of stress you're under, your body's response to the physical demands of the stress, and your mental attitude towards it.

I agree totally indira - after 6 months of LE diet your body can't help but think times are hard LOL.

I wish I could make this easier, but I really do believe it's the best way to sway.

thank you AS. I did OV... but only had a 5 day LP despite taking 70-80mg vit B6 (more than the two previous months and my LPs were longer then). Booked a docs appointment today to see if they can reassure me about vitex/vit B6 dosage or to prescribe me progesterone or something

Thanks! Hope so too. Appointment is next week but seeing as this is a weight gain cycle I'm not too fussed about waiting. Just hope they don't tell me to either quit ttc for now or stop BF and refuse to help... doctors in this country can be a bit hit or miss especially when it comes to ttc if you haven't been trying for 12 months.

No update yet, my appointment is this Thursday! I met the doctor I'll be seeing last week for the first time as my DS was poorly, she seemed professional but not sure how sympathetic she will be to my situation. Guess I'll find out soon!
