What do you think of this timing method?

Hiya, so I really want to get pregnant first cycle as am dieting hardcore which I think sways the most.

We will abstain for between 7 and 10 days and lower sperm count using tight pants, heating testicles and Licourice Root.
But because I want to have a good chance of pregnancy this cycle I feel 0+12 may not be good enough.
What about abstaining and then dtd but with a condom with a hole in, when I get my positive opk, and then I always ovulate within 24 hours, so then dtd again normally around 0+12? I would make sure PH was low before dtd at just before ovulation as I believe thats important.

In all honesty, I don't think DTD with a whole in the condom is going to increase your chances of pregnancy much! I think the 'hole in the condom' trial was dropped because hardly anybody was getting pregnant - that might not be entirely accurate but something along those lines! If you want a good chance of pregnancy this cycle why not DTD at +OPK without the condom and then your O+12? You could increase whatever you're doing in terms of gels/douches and/or do a Jump and Dump if you feel like you want to do more around that first attempt and probably stand a higher chance of conceiving, but even then you'd be doing a lot to lower your chances.

But do you think Id be lowering the chances of having a girl by ttc at positive opk? Although I know timing doesnt matter, I cant get it out my head that doing it just before O is more boy territory. I just thought the hole in the condom would give a slightly higher chance of pregnancy without lowering the chances too much of getting a girl.
Just dont want to significantly higher the chances of a boy by dtd just before Ovulation as opposed to just at 0+12.
Im just thinking that the hole in the condom could still keep the sperm count low, and maybe the 0+12 would work but the one attempt before is a back up

I guess I could do jump and dump and I read that KY jelly kills some sperm .......

I'm probably the wrong person to ask because I don't believe in timing at all and we had our one attempt on O day! We used Rephresh and Acijel and I did and Jump and Dump to lower sperm count and I felt if we'd done those things far away from O we wouldn't have got pregnant.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too, and if I can get my ph to stay low then it should be a pink sway still

i agree with Zanacal. I don't believe that dtd with a hole in condom is going to increase your chances of pregnancy much at all.. you're better off just bd'ing through ov if you want to increase your chances or why not do a couple of cut off attempts as well as o+12 if you want to avoid your peak days?

I was going to dtd when my regular opks where postive and the digital was still negative. However, if I don't get a fade in pattern I am going to DTD at the first OPK (going to test often to get beginning of surge. I have been using rephresh to keep PH low, and will use 1/2 applicator 12 hours before attempt. Will lay for 10 mins get up to go to the bathroom (normally what I do-I think it keeps me from getting a urinary track infection)

I'm more worried about 0+ because BD is same day as 0!

Yeah, def. think I'm opting for a cut off because both my sons were direct O day babies, and O+12 scares me for that reason...pretty sure stress less, RePhresh and and + OPK cut off is the way for me (as you say, all the things you do with sway lower fertility anyways) so will be a close cut off.

Yeah cut off makes sense if I predict ovulation correctly as I don't get fade ins really and ovulate 24 hrs after positive. Just hope its enough as worried if it isn't and we then do the O+12 after 2 or 3 days the sperm count would be higher

There is actually a good study showing more girls are conceived from intercourse during the LH surge (ie pos opk).

I think dtd when you get your pos opk and again at o+12 (with a release inbetween) would STRONGLY sway pink whilst giving you a good chance of pregnancy.

I expect my timing will be intercourse the evening of opk, which means about 12 to 24 hours before ovulation, and then again the next night 24 hours later at about 0+8 or so - don't think we could release in between and go again the next night though!

if it's less than 24hrs between releases/BDs I don't think you'd need to do an extra release (although it would probably help your sway if you could!)

Yeah I will try to time it for less than 24 hours between them. I hope its the first month as day 2 of the diet and I was almost gagging eating the rice for lunch lol

I don't blame you, I barely touched rice on the diet either! You're doing your own thing diet wise aren't you? You could just have a sandwich with low sodium white bread - Weight Watchers bread is good - with either jam or something like a Dairylea slice and a bit of cucumber (with the skin cut off if you like).

Yeah I'm trying to follow the ig diet foods like pasta and rice but vegetarian too, I also don't want to cook anything time consuming so rice and pasta fit well, basicall I'm going as low nutrient this month as poss. Bu bored and hard to get over 10000 cals. Had rice with leeks and parmasan for lunch and maybe a jam sarnie or toast for tea or just rice pops milk and yog.

I'm sure some of the ladies mixed low fat natural yogurt in with their rice - sounds disgusting to me but apparently it's not and it would make it less dry!

Im thinking I may have to cheat a little and try adding a baby vegie stock **** which is very low salt to it. Did have a bit of salad cream in bread and butter tonight but then my PH has risen to high 5's this evening so wonder what made it do that.
Not sure I could stomach it with yoghurt lol

Ok, so another thought on this:

If there is any theory is shettles, dtd away from ovulation, PH killing or freezing y sperm, then if we dtd un-protected on cd9, and then I ovulate on cd17 - thats a 8 day cut off - so pregnancy is unlikely but if it happens, hopefully it would have been x sperm who survived. Then if we also dtd on positive opk on cd 16 then again thats a 7 day cut off so both times should have a lower sperm count. If I happen to ovulate earlier, like cd 14 - rarely happens, then we wont dtd and just hope the sperm made it from cd9.
Does that make sense?
Is that better than not having intercourse at all, or use condom on cd9, and then dtd on positive opk? I guess Im doing a bit of shettles but a back up intercourse on opk to give good chances of pregnancy ........... but with a 7 or 8 day abstinence in between. I just dont know which study to trust so thought Id try both together.

Also, do I just take sudafed 2 hours before dtd at positive opk, or at all attempts?
What is the maximum amount of times to take sudafed for swaying?

Ill get there eventually in my plan, the more I read the more I change my thinking and plan

XX and XY sperm live the same amount of time (Shettles was wrong in his assumption and mistook capacitated and uncapacitated sperm for XX and XY - he didn't test it, see point 2/3 here: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/show...rm-and-Y-sperm ). After 7 days or even 5 days you would have less surviving sperm in there, but chances are they would still be close to 50-50 XX and XY.

With a cut off of 5 days you have less than a 10% chance of conceiving each cycle. Obviously with a 7 day cut off it will be very very unlikely especially if you are doing other things to lower sperm count and decrease fertility. If you want to conceive fast (which I think I remember you saying you did) a cut off is really not the way forwards...

I think it's safe to DTD on the pos OPK - in fact that seems like the best option according to the majority of studies.

The fact that so many of the studies find different things about timing means that it most likely does not sway at all. The diet seems to be the most important thing and you said you're already doing that?
