Good luck everybody :D
Thanks again, Z!
I've had pretty much the same thing today as yesterday - I'll update with my totals later. I'm off to the movies tonight, and it's going to be soooo hard not to get popcorn. I've already put a pack of Sour Patch Kids in my purse to keep me going, and I might even put 1 serving of my low fat salt & vinegar chips in a ziploc bag and bring those too to help curb any salt cravings (and since my sodium is only something like 500mg as of right after supper).
oday-
breakfast- peppermint tea
lunch- 2 slices of cheese pizza and a cookie
snack- sprite zero and a small dip and dots ice cream
dinner- 2 crunchy tacos with white rice with a dab of beans/ sour cream and more sprite zero
after dinner- about 10 salt free pretzels, peppermint tea, and diet cranberry juice
Hi mommy*duke - your day looks great with lots of yummy stuff!
Here's how my day ended up looking:
7am: coffee
12pm: 1 serving rice with 1 cup baby spinach, 2 tbsp fat free yogurt and balsamic vinegar + 2 sugar free cookies for dessert
4pm: 1 ginger cookie ( I had just baked them and they smelled so good and were warm from the oven - I couldn't resist!)
5pm: 1.5 servings pasta with sauteed leeks, zucchini and mushrooms + parmesan + another ginger cookie for dessert
9:30pm: hot chocolate (I was at the movies, and since it was a cold night this appealed to me), 3 tortilla chips dipped in Salsa (stolen from my friend)
2 cups RRL tea, 1 cup peppermint tea, 3 cups CL
Calories: 1294
Protein: 45.5g (but over 10g of that is from veggies)
Sodium: 749mg
Thanks, Zan!
 Mommy Duke! Your day sounded yummy! So glad you're joining us! I love this thread b/c I always get new food ideas from you all and it helps to know I'm not alone in this diet!
Mocha, I :awe: warm cookies out of the oven!!! I wouldn't have been able to stop at one, though! Good for you!
Here's what I had yesterday:
• 2 C. black tea w/rice milk
• Sautéed leeks, portobellos, basmati rice & a bit of pecorino-romano cheese, Salad w/yogurt thousand island dressing
• Air-popped popcorn w/pecorino-romano cheese, weight watcher latte ice cream bar, Zevia cream soda (this had stevia in it but didn’t have other chemicals that other soda pop has in it so I drink this sometimes instead…hope the stevia here and there doesn’t work too hard against the sway)
• 3 C. Peppermint Tea, 2 C. RRL Tea
Mmmmm - that rice sounds yummy, Jen!
Jen and Mocha- you sound like you make some yummy sautes!
Jen-I'm all about the popcorn too! I've always loved the stuff!
So far today I've eaten kinda a lot:
b-fast:
Pep tea w/ equal, 2 slice challah, mini bagel w/whipped cream cheese and sugar-free jelly
lunch:
yoplait lite yogurt, 110 cal bag kettle corn lite, fiber smoothie w/banana, strawberry, ricemilk, fiber, mini white chocolate candies and small piece of a kit kat bar, pep tea
It's okay if you're eating a lot...If you're lowering your cals, protein, fat, etc., you're swaying, girl! Your kettle corn is from T.J.'s, isn't it? I :awe: that stuff and it works well w/the sway!
We went to IKEA today and among other things, I bought a grill pan since I've been trying to grill veggies in my panini press. It was just making them soggy...:sadflwr: I can't wait to break it out and grill!
Breakfast- peppermint tea
Lunch- 2 slices of low calorie/low salt white bread with sugar free strawberry jelly, maybe 8 salt free tortilla chips with about a tablespoon of homemade salsa, and sugar free choc skim milk.
Snack- Newton Crisp and a hand full of salt free pretzels. Sprite zero.
Dinner- Lean Cuisine cheese pizza and a cup or fat free strawberry yogurt. Sprite Zero.
47 grams of protein, 740 calories, and 990 mg of sodium
I wont eat again. I will have some cranberry juice, peppermint tea, and more diet Sprite.
What do you think? To much protein and sodium right?
yes i should in about 3 days. i just feel like im eating enough. i cant seem to cut the damn sodium though err!
this was a high day for protein for me though i feel pretty bad about that. i'll be so glad when this is over!!
Mommyduke - your sodium is still within the limits, but you haven't had enough calories. If you avoid prepared foods like that Lean Cuisine pizza you'll have a much easier time keeping within your limits and still getting enough calories. I've been known to make a salt free pizza dough to make my own pizza at home. Add some low sodium sauce, veggies and not too much cheese and it can work quite well within the diet. I also sometimes make them on a pita to save the step of making my own crust - at less than 200mg of sodium, 1 9" pita pizza can fill me up with lots of sodium to spare.
I tend to eat a lot of pasta because it's an easy way to fill you up and add calories. One serving of pasta is usually about 300 calories, 10g of protein and no sodium - top it with some unsalted butter and parmesan and you're good to go. You can also get quite creative with sauces and veggies to add flavour.
Here's my day:
7am: coffee
12pm: rice with 2 tbsp yogurt, 1 cup baby spinach and balsamic vinegar + 2 sugar free cookies
5pm: 1.5 servings pasta with (you guessed it) mushrooms, leeks and zucchini + creme fraiche. I also added 1 tbsp of some sodium-free homemade pesto leftover from my summer swaying (I made a big batch and froze it) just to add some different flavour. + orange sherbet for dessert
8:30pm: green grapes, 1/2 serving low fat salt & vinegar chips, Mike & Ikes
Calories: 1483
Protein: 40g
Sodium: 535mg (even WITH the chips!)
I think I'm going to have something completely different for supper tomorrow - as yummy as it is, I'm starting to get bored of the same thing every night. I have the stuff to make girl-friendly quesadillas or pita pizzas. I might even make vegetarian lasagna if I'm feeling ambitious.
Ohh today was a bad day...
Breakfast- peppermint tea
Lunch- 1 1/2 slices of low calorie/low salt white bread with sugar free strawberry jam, french fries with a table spoon of ketchup, and a few salt free chips with salsa. glass of sugar free strawberry milk.
Dinner- Mashed potatoes with light sour cream and pepper and 7 baby carrots.
Other drinks- crystal light, bottled water, diet caff free coke, more peppermint tea, and cranberry juice.
around 700 calories, 850 mg of sodium, and 25 g protein
I have SUUUUCH a hard time doing the diet. I would rather starve than eat nothing but strawberries and yogurt all day. It's much easier for me to not eat and drink more and to be able to have some of the stuff that I like and not go over what I shouldn't.
mommy*duke - are you doing the IG diet or LE? On the LE diet you can eat pretty much anything as long as you stay within the guidelines of low fat, 40g protein, 700-1000 mg sodium and 1500-1800 calories. I'm really worried about you eating so little - you were below the limits for everything so you could definitely have eaten more food today!
Well I guess im doing the LE diet. I try to sick to the French diet and the IG diet but also try to keep everything low but the days that I go extra low are the days i've ate something "bad" to make up for it. I have felt pretty awful lately though. I always feel like i've ate to much though and I try to skip breakfast and not eat late so that doesn't leave a lot of time to make up for it. I feel full from 12-5 because of lunch and dinner and then all the drinks. I start to get hungry again late at night but try and go for another drink or 2 to fill me up so im not eating so late.
I didn't have a great day. After weeks of averaging 500mg of sodium, it crept up on me today and ended up over the limit. I also went over on protein - it was all the extra cheese I ate. Oh well, my supper was so yummy it was worth it!
7am: coffee
12pm: 1 cup rice with 2 tbsp yogurt, ginger cookie
5pm: 1 1/2 pizzas made on pita with low sodium sauce, yellow pepper, portobello mushrooms and mozzarella. I could have been good and used only one or two servings of mozzarella, but I used 3 servings. I also could have been good and eaten only one pizza, but it was so good I ate half of another one too! + I had two Peek Freans Lifestyles cookies for dessert
8:30: raspberries, Sour Patch Kids
Calories: 1508
Protein: 47.5g (but 7g of that was from fruit and veggies, so technically I'm still ok)
Sodium: 1244mg
Maybe try eating pasta? It's an easy way to add up your calories and it has the added bonus of filling you up and being quite tasty. On the LE diet you can eat tomato sauce, or you could try butter and parmesan, pureed butternut squash or any other low sodium low protein sauce you can think of. Add lots of veggies to it and it becomes even more filling.
that's not too bad! don't be so hard on yourself!
my day yesterday:
bfast:
2 slice challah with lite butter, mini bagel with whipped creamed cream cheese and sugar free jelly, 2 corn cakes, pep tea
lunch:
frozen yougurt w/ 4 raspberries, 2 cups air popped pop corn
dinner:
pasta w/ lite butter and parmesean iceburg lettuce salad w/cucumbers, vinegrette dressing, 2 pieces licorice, 1 creamsicle, 4 chocolate covered blueberries, an empty ice cream cone.
didn't totally count calories, and I always just eyeball the other stuff.
So question for you all-my period just started, yay!! I am down to 94.5 this morning, should I start to skip breakfast or keep eating it? what would you do? thanks!
Personally, I find it easiest to skip breakfast all the time - otherwise I get used to eating in the morning and have trouble cutting it out, but if you're someone who has trouble skipping breakfast I know lots of ladies only do it close to O time. Maybe start weaning yourself off breakfast now by making is smaller and smaller or eating later and later?
MommyDuke, I think you’re doing a great job but increasing your cals may make it a bit more tolerable for you. It’s okay to go up to even 1,600 cals, especially if you’re struggling. In the very beginning when I was trying to do a sway diet, I tried to combine the IG and LE diets but it was just too difficult and restrictive so I just picked the one that made the most sense for my sway and am sticking w/it. Maybe just picking one and sticking to it would be easier for you…? I know this diet is so tough and downright depressing some days, especially watching your family eat something really you really miss. Hang in there and :hug2:!!!
Wowzuhs! You are a tiny thing, Amari! What's your BMI (you don't have to tell me if you don't want to!). If it's 18.5 or below, I would tend to think you should keep the breakfast up b/c you so small and you need food! You're going on Clomid (YAY for AF coming!!!) so you'll want to be fertile and being so small, you're already swaying pink. Clomid certainly doesn't hurt a girl-swayer either!
Agreed, Sistah!!! :agree: I just quit eating it one day a few wks ago and realized I could do it so I kept it up. Last time when I was swaying, I went back and forth a few times but it just made it harder. Mocha is right...if it's difficult to just start quitting breakkie, wean yourself off over a period of a wk or so and try to be done w/it by the time AF ends (give or take a day). If it’s easier to skip dinner, do that instead b/c it will sway the same as skipping breakkie. Like I said above, though, you may need to eat breakkie if you're so small.
Saturday:
• 1 C. half-caff coffee, 1 C. black tea with rice milk
• Lunch at IKEA was :sadflwr: and no where near satisfying …2 tiny side salads (mixed greens) and two tiny sides of steamed veggies. They used to have wonderful salads but not this time. I tried to cut waaay back on the dressing b/c it wasn’t girl sway-friendly.
• Homemade veggie tostada (beans, rice, grilled veggies, cheese and a drizzle of ranch dressing)
I went over my sodium levels on Saturday.
Sunday:
• 1 C. half-caff coffee, 1 C. black tea with rice milk
• Ate out again…1/2 Mexican veggie salad and part of DH’s berry cake
• The other ½ of my veggie salad from lunch, Zevia cream soda (w/stevia…I know! )
• A few pieces of my sons’ Halloween candy (bottle caps, starbursts)

I don't know my BMI, I am 5'4". I can't decide if I should skip a meal or keep eating. I can not skip bfast. I will try and skip lunch today and see how it goes...check in with you all later!

amari - if you're going to try to skip lunch, maybe have some diet Pepsi/Coke. I find it really does a good job of fooling your stomach into thinking you're full without raising blood sugar *and* it's good for your sway.
Here's a link to a good BMI calculator:
Body Mass Index calculator you'll like
I'm about 5' 4.5" and 110ish. My BMI is about 18.6ish right now. If I were you, I would ask Atomic Sagebrush for advice. You can send her a private message...She welcomes giving advice! GL today!
Thanks, jen. it says i'm 16.3. i am having a hard time balancing this sway diet with keeping on enough weight and keeping my blood sugar low. i don't want my to gain weight and end up swaying blue but i don't want to keep losing and be not fertile. i want to maintain but i keep losing instead by mistake. so, maybe i should not skip meals even at fertile time, idk. i don't want to bother atomic, i just bothered her with lube questions!
i broke down and ate two cookies, i figured it would raise my blood sugar then bring it way down again?!
You definitely need to eat more then, amari. I would think it would be fine for you not to skip meals - you're so skinny that you're swaying girl regardless. I also wouldn't worry about bothering atomic - I'm sure she'd be happy to help.
I had a really yummy supper tonight and I still managed to stay within my limits!
7am: coffee
12pm: rice with balsamic vinegar, 1 slice toasted Cinnabon cinnamon bread (I saw this in the grocery store and couldn't resist!), pear
5:30pm: vegetarian tacos (basically, I sauteed yellow pepper strips, leek, a cup of canned 'no salt added' tomatoes, a cup of canned 'no salt added black beans' and added about 1tsp of chili powder and a bit of cumin + a bunch of fresh cilantro, then put them on salt-free corn tortillas with cheese, fresh salsa and fat free plain yogurt. The tortillas are tiny, so I had 4! I used a total of 2 servings of cheese (60g) and about 3-4 tbsp of salsa on them. I even popped them into the oven for a bit after adding the cheese to let it melt. Sooooooo yummy!!!! I wasn't jealous of the kids for their beef tacos at all - mine looked far more appetizing. The best part is I only ate half of what I made so I can have it for supper again later in the week.) + 4 lychee fruits for dessert
8:30pm: cherries (I know - they're too healthy for this diet, but they were on sale and I love them so I couldn't resist), Mike & Ikes
Calories: 1356
Protein: 40g
Sodium: 832mg
For yesterday 12/5
I didn't really eat much at all since I was ovulating yesterday. I didn't count calories because it was to hard with what I ate but im guessing I didn't go over 700.
I had peppermint tea at 10
At 12 a few bites of left over mashed potatoes and 3 baby carrots, a pack of Newton Crisp, and then a little noodles with cheese and sauce with a caff free diet coke.
At 5 I had maybe 3 bites of my kids noodles (the ones I ate for lunch), 1 slice of sugar free pear, 1/2 of a Newton Crisp, a small salad, and more peppermint tea.
Then around 11 I had prob 14 salt free mini pretzels bottled water and more diet caff free coke.
YUMMO, Mocha! I made something similar over the weekend…I really felt like I was indulging a bit too much but it was within my means (when we went out to eat that day for lunch, that was what tipped the sodium over the edge but I’m not so worried about going over in my sodium levels this time around). If you look, you can really find a lot of "no sodium added" items in the store! Adding grilled veggies, leeks and/or vinegar really help me when I need some flavor.
:cheerteam: YAY for O coming soon, MommyDuke!!! I assume you were trying this round, right? Add another to the 2ww!!! So many of our pink swaying sisters are now there! Not sure when I'll join but hopefully it's soon...
Yesterday:
• :C: 2 C. of tea w/rice milk
• Grilled veggies w/sauteed leeks & portobellos and a bit of pecorino-romano (I was too lazy to cook rice), air-popped popcorn
• Smoothie (froz rasp., psyllium husks, coconut water), light coolwhip + a bit of low fat cream cheese + strawberry jam (I’m hooked on this combo and I spread it on my air-puffed corn cakes when I have them)
• :C: 3 C. pep tea, 1 C. RRL tea throughout the day
You're not eating much these days, Jen - is it because you're waiting to O? I'm the opposite. Since I know I'm in the 2WW now I'm eating some extra calories since who knows how long I'll be on this diet (this is month 6 for me if you include last summer).
I just saw this post:
http://genderdreaming.com/forum/tryi...ovulation.html
Check it out for atomic's views on reducing calories even more around O.
No...I'm not purposefully eating only a little right now. I'm honestly not that hungry most of the time. My lunches are quite sizable though, especially when I eat 250 cals worth of popcorn! I will definitely need to really rethink things if I don’t get a BFP this round. I saw Atomic’s O post this a.m. and it makes sense. I’m just really bored w/food and don’t have any drive to cook anything different lately. No joke, I have 7 different bottles of salad dressing in my fridge right now to keep my salads interesting. Whenever I get my BFP, I’m going to hit all my fav restaurants w/DH…Indian, Thai, Italian….Mmmmm!
Hey, Amari…How are you? Hope all is well!
I read it... I had a really good sway with my last baby. I did the IG diet and supplements and the only thing I didn't do is reduce calories and I ate a normal amount which really isn't THAT much anyway. I just feel like I need to do it this time. Im still bf but my son is 1 1/2 and im ready to wean anyway and i've almost made y goal of 115. Im 117 now so I bet I can get there! I wish I could get my hands on a cheap treadmill!
Yeah, I'm really looking forward to those post-BFP meals too. I went a little nuts in my first month after my BFP last time and ended up gaining 10 pounds in the first month!
I'm also going to treat myself to a big cheat meal if I get af - it'll help make it less depressing. I'm thinking pizza!
