Blood sugar question!

How much do you think blood sugar plays in conceiving a girl? I am slender, and have always been able to eat whatever I want, but I have a tendency towards high blood sugar (diabetes in my mother's family, and my mother is borderline, but manages to control her sugar levels with diet). I have been testing my blood sugar the last few days just out of curiousity (I have a HUGE sweet tooth, and have been eating lots of "white" processed foods, and cookies etc since starting the LE girl diet). Anyways, my fasting blood sugar in the mornings has been straddling the high side of normal. This has me wondering if this isn't something I should focus on a bit more than the LE diet? By eating less calories, and adding protein or fat to each meal and snack to reduce the speed at which the sugars enter my system, that would in the long run probably make me lose a couple pounds and also lower my sugars. However, my protein and fat intake would be almost double what the LE recommends. What do you think takes priority to increase chances for a girl?

Interesting question! I don't know the answer though except I know losing some weight in itself lowers blood sugar, I think even a lb or 2. Do you have no weight at all to lose?

I'm 5'8", and am about 135lbs. I'm pretty lean and muscular (I run marathons). I'm going to try to lose a couple pounds at least, and I'm sure I can do that just by cutting out the cookies and desserts, and high-fat foods and all the miscellaneous "yummy" stuff that I love! I was really surprised by the high readings. I actually thought at the time that my blood sugar must haev been low, because I was feel foggy-headed and dizzy! oops!!

I know that the glucose thing is something which has been shown to affect the growth of the different genders, and other studies have theoreticised that it is the cause of "low nutrition" diets swaying pink too. I'd say it's important to do, but you need to be losing weight too

I can't skip breakfast without getting dizzy and almost passing out. I used to have low blood sugar (in my early teens) and I was warned that it could turn into high blood sugar and i should keep an eye on it. My sugars have been higher in the morning when I wake up than when I go to bed at night - so something is obviously not happy with my current diet. The past couple days I have cut WAY down on the sugar and white carbs (I'd been trying to eat more white rice, pasta etc for less nutritious girl diet), decreased portion sizes, and have been eating small meals every 2-3 hours with some fat or protein to see if I can decrease my fasting blood sugar that way. Skipping breakfast is no use to me if my morning sugars are high to begin with! I'm a bit frustrated too, because I can't eat a LE diet and keep my blood sugar in check. I will go over in fat and protei . I guess I can still stick to the 1600 cal/day, which is way less than my usual 2200-2500 average. Hmm.

But how to make a signature you go to the top and click "settings" and then on the left hand sidebar should be an option to "Edit signatures" and then you just put in whatever you want and click save and volia!

I think blood sugar control plays a HUGE part in swaying so if you have issues regulating your blood sugar, you NEED to tweak the LE Diet in the ways that essay describes - by focusing more on fiber rich sources of carb rather than the white carbs and you will also need to get at least SOME more protein, pref. from vegetable sources. No need to get more fat.

If you lose weight, your blood sugar WILL go down.

I don't know if this helps but I have a friend who is a type 1 diabetic and she just had her 2nd girl last week.

Thanks for the thoughts! I should clarify, I am not truly diabetic. I just know I have a tendency for my blood sugar to run on the high side of the normal spectrum, and have been trying to ignore that the past few years ;). I think that all my pasta, rice and white carb eating the past few weeks combined with reducing my protein intake has just made my sit right on the cusp of borderline too high for fasting levels (I'm sure Christmas didn't help either!!). But it did get me thinking that maybe this is a larger part of the puzzle for me.... How to get those morning sugar levels nice and low.... I have read the apple cider vinegar can lower blood sugar fairly quickly. But, I've also read that it sways blue?? What are your thoughts on that? I took a tsp last night, and I did have lower numbers this morning (hooray! Well within normal today!!).

I personalyl think the key is to keep your own personal blood sugar levels down, regardless if they are generally high compared to an average...does that make sense?. I have always had low blood sugar levels (I only know this from the normal blood sugar tests during pregnancy, the nurss were always surprised saying they see such low readings). So while I think low blood sugar levels are key (I am skipping breakfast -luckily that doesnt seem to bother my body at all- and I also leave gaps inbetween meals (well the few I have) unti lI really feel hungry, I think it is more to do with your own personal levels as opposed to the going below the average level...

raspberry leaf tea naturally lowers blood sugar levels too, you could try drinking that

and raspberry leaf tea also helps the lining right? so a win-win

I had my fasting levels checked today ... after at least 16 hours without eating (just a caffeine-free Diet Coke last night and a pep tea this morning), it was 83. Is that okay for trying to sway pink? Is it supposed to be lower than that? Or are we just trying to stay down at that kind of level for longer than usual (by not eating breakfast, by reducing protein that keeps blood sugar up/steady longer?).

Should I be nervous/unhappy about that 83? (Also, the lab tech said she was surprised the number wasn't lower after such a long fast -- so I was kind of freaking out that that meant my levels are too high for pink ... or you know, my health, too.)

that's right!
also lowers pH, improves uterine lining, and balances hormones. Many gains :)
some women find it increases CM, but I haven't had that

My first reading at 8am was 68. She said that anything above 60 is considered normal, so it was very, very low. I dont think 80 is that high to be honest, but I am no doctor ...

I do agree that it is prob. your individual levels that count, but in the world of blood sugar, high is high, low is low - not a lot of room for variation there. Someone goes into the hospital with blood sugar at a certain level and they can tell that's high!!

Were you supposed to drink the pep tea? That may have made a difference.

PLEASE don't anyone start checking yoru blood sugar levels and stuff like that. Don't even think about it. Just skip breakfast, avoid snacks, lose a couple pounds, and don't eat super huge meals that take forever to digest. Your blood sugar WILL go down if you do those things.

For people who REALLY do have high blood sugar levels, your doctor will be able to tell from tests he/she can give you, and can give you medication to help bring that down (these meds sway pink BTW).

Jury is out on that question. Blue swayers drink apple cider vinegar as a supplement because it is supposedly "alkalinizing" , but at the same time ACV has been proven to lower blood sugar levels signifigantly and I think the data supporting blood sugar and swaying is a heck of a lot stronger than the "acid/alkaline" stuff which has been largely debunked because you really CANNOT alter the pH of your blood from diet, and if the pH of your blood does change, you DIE. it may have an effect on CM pH tho, but there is no really strong evidence that it works real well.

Vinegar is allowed in dietary amounts on the LE Diet and I just personally do not believe that it could possibly "alkalinize" anything enough to matter. It really CAN lower blood sugar levels tho (proven).

Excellent! I've taken it a few days now and it really has helped with the morning blood sugar levels (well, that and staying away from the leftover Christmas goodies! Lol!). I think I'm going to keep it in my plan :)

There are natural things like ACV (cinnamon, and a few others) to lower BS levels and I have not yet included them in the sway, but maybe should look into it more.

That sounds good! I love cinnamon!! Now I'm just waiting another 3-4 weeks til first attempt.... :)
