She said on a live scan the nub moves all over the place and can look boy and girl on the same scan. She said in her experience (scanning for 20+ years) potty shots are of greater accuracy if the baby is past 12w5d gestation or measures greater than 13w0d. Apparently around 85% of babies can have gender determined at 13 weeks and accuracy is over 90% in those where they can guess. In my brief looking for research to indicate this, I found one using both nub and potty shot ranging from 11w0d through 13w6d and the accuracy rate went way up after 12w3d with potty shots having better determination accuracy. Very few couldn’t be assigned in the 13 week range and accuracy was something like 96%-98%, which puts it at the same rate as 18+ anatomy scans.
