PCOS TTC Girl ... too much conflicting info on supps driving me nuts! PCOS LC or normal LE- help!

Hi....
I am ttc girl, have one boy .. (in actual fact twin girls has been my life long dream!!) I use clomid and trigger injection to ovulate. I love to read research reports (im a teacher) but all the conflicting info regarding supplements is getting me down :( also, I was (attempting) th do the LE diet (with a bit of modification) and then came across the great info about pcos and diet. but now im confused as much of the info conflicts with the normal LE diet. im starting to feel lost and that ill just give it a go with lowering PH (mine seems to be 5) and a long cut off.
any advice appreciated.

atm I take...... vitex, mag, cal, cranberry, folic acid, multi vit (and I also take 8000mg fish oil as I have 2 types of arthritis). when the month comes to ttc I will stop the vitex and cut down cranberry and calcium {still in debate over whether to take cal atm} and start clomid 50mg) I also take sulphasalazine for arthritis).

any advice particularly welcome

I don't think just a few weeks off all those vitamins would be the best idea.

Well, your needs with PCOS are dramatically different and thus the diets are different. They really aren't that different anyway - lower protein, lower fat, more carbs, but just a bit more pro and fat on the PCOS diets and different carb sources.

Do not sway using pH and timing unless you want another boy. Most of us on this site have 2,3,4 or more opposites using those methods. NEVER do a long cutoff and lowering pH with Clomid anyway. You need to get pregnant quickly with Clomid and be in with a good chance.

Clomid is among the best sway tactics there is. I strongly advise getting off the vitex right away because vitex may interfere with Clomid.

I personally STRONGLY recommend against anyone on 8000 mg fish oil (and I hope and pray you are taking this under a doctor's supervision) with cranberry. You are going to bleed to death doing that and I'm not kidding around. Both are blood thinners and 8000 mg fish oil is a massive amount of blood thinners for anyone to be on.

Folic acid may interact with your Sulphasalazine so please contact your doctor about whether to take that or not.

Can take 5 caps (2000 each) so I'm not even on the highest dose

I will stop the vitex before the actual ttc month so I wont be taking vitex and clomid together at all

I got pregnant with a boy while on clomid and metformin last time (no cut off), which is why I wanted to try it this time round.
im new to the PH info- can you please tell me why you shouldn't do low PH and cut off with clomid?

Your odds of conception would be too low trying to do clomid, pH, and a cut off. You only have a limited number of months on the clomid so don't waste it doing things that don't sway and will result in BFN. Just stick to what works.

Hi... Thanks, yeah I have recently read the ph pickle thread. I'm in Australia and depending on circumstances they can give you more time on the Clomid, so I'm not so worried about that.

Do you know why my chances wouldn't be the same
As Everyone else's? As Clomid just mimics what most people's bodies do naturally (ovulate) so I wasn't sure of the teadon I coukdnt also try the other methods?

I would like to get pregnant quickly obviously, but I would also like It to be a girl ��

If you are under the care of a doctor then you can of course do what your doctor advises you. DO NOT x infinity, add cranberry onto that amount. Many people who are taking fish oil are NOT young women who already have "thin" blood. Older people and heavyset people have "clottier" blood and can take higher doses of it, hence maybe they can take higher doses of it.

I can guarantee you with 100% certainty that even though you got a boy on Clomid and Metformin, that adding a cutoff to that is not going to assist your sway in any way. Most of us on this site have 2,3,4 or more boys with cutoffs and the idea has been totally debunked.

On Clomid it is very important (especially for you since you need it to conceive) that you get pregnant fairly quickly. You can only take Clomid for a few months at a time and a limited number of months over the course of your life. So you can't waste time on things that cut odds of conception hugely and do not even WORK such as cutoff timing and pH. These things do not work, our data and logic/biology prove that they don't work, and what will get you your girl is getting pregnant with ONE ATTEMPT on Clomid. (for reasons we do not know, one attempt does seem to sway strongly pink as does Clomid) So we want to put that attempt at a point in time (at positive OPK) where your odds of conception are good with that one attempt and Clomid. So to do a bunch of stuff that does not work, and wrecks your chances of conceiving with one attempt on Clomid, wouldn't help you get your girl. You could possibly end up not pregnant and out of Clomid.

The reason why they only give you a certain number of months on Clomid is because after 6 consecutive months it renders you basically infertile and secondly because it causes cancer. PLEASE do not do sway tactics that do not work on the promise that you can always take more Clomid because if they give it to you for longer than 6 consecutive months or more than 18 months total in your lifetime, they are not helping you anyway.

I hope you're not feeling picked on here, we just want you to be safe and have the best sway you can and what you're planning to do is not going to achieve that.

So, Clomid sways girl, does metformin??? (I thought it supposedly did).
So one attempt for me.... Close to ovulation?? Or any of the couple of days before? (Asking as I will have
Trigger injection to ovulate).
Also, so I still do no orgasm, shallow penetration, male has hot bath/ heat pack on 'parts' before hand??

Yes Metformin ~probably~ sways pink but I do not have as quite a strong data set to demonstrate that.

One attempt night of trigger shot.

You can do no orgasm for you but skip shallow and skip hot bath/or hot pack on jewels.

One final question... OH takes multi vitamins... Should I get him to stop? And get him to take cranberry and liquiorice root??

Also add exercise to your sway sammy! It's getting great results to do cardio for 60+ about 5-6 times a week. Walking is just fine, as long as it's a bit intense for you. And also I'd advice you to get a personal plan from atomic, she will give you all the info you need. Also on supplements for DH etc. Good luck!

If you have severe PCOS the rules are different on exercise too. The benefits to blood sugar lowering and in turn lower testosterone outweigh any possible risk from musclebuilding and thus I recommend exercise for all PCOSers even if you can't get up to the full amount.

Well, I still don't think cranberry is safe or effective for swaying so I personally would not have had you do that. Your call to make.

Did you come off your fish oil under a doctor's advisement?? Fish oil is a strong blood thinner and suddenly coming off it can temporarily make your blood "too sticky" and more likely to form clots. Best to wean off gradually.

yes, just cut down and then off. I have been off them before for periods of time when I have run out and then been working too much to get to the pharmacy etc.

so.... I am ttc this month. I had hoped for no cut off and one attempt, BUT ..... my OH is away (work) at time of 0. we can bd approx. 2-4 days before 0 before he leaves. so, in saying that, what would your advice be on what to do to give me the best chance of getting preg this month? I am taking clomid, have PCOS. I was thinking should I still just do the ONE attempt? as originally planned. or should I maybe do it twice, 2 nights in a row to increase more sperm? also, should OH do frequent release for 7 days leading up to bd? my ph is around 5-6. starting to panic! help would be great!!! i don't know how i can possibly get my ph any lower, i feel like I'm doing a lot already. (6 equal tablets in drinks a day, one can of sprite zero, caffeine free coffee etc)

I'd still do the one attempt as close to o as possible. The sperm will hang around for a couple of days.

Just do the one attempt, it's def. possible to get pg from one attempt 2 or 3 days before O, 4 is stretching it.

Since you only have the one shot I would NOT have him do the release. Just have him release on his own or with you, with a condom, every 2-4 days (this is what we call regular release) and then have the one attempt. That way there will be a decent sized batch but still only the one shot. The one attempt seems to be by far more important, even though we don't know why.

Please don't worry about pH of 5-6, that is perfectly fine. It's really important on Clomid not to do the pH stuff - it kills all the sperm. Studies have shown with pH of lower than 6, no motile sperm in the cervical crypts, not X and not Y. THey just lay there and die.

I would not have you use any more than 2-3 servings of aspartame a day. It hasn't worked for people (pH stays high anyway) and I've seen plenty get boys with that level of intake, plus it may not be safe. I prefer people stick to the amount recommended by the FDA, which is 2-3 servs. a day

Sylk is a fantastic lube for TTC girl. It has a low pH of 4-4.7. It is the only one my DH and I like the best! Between Aci-jel and rephresh, I prefer the Aci-jel since it is more watery in consistency.

Sylk or Acijel are low pH jellies that are good lubes. REpH. and Replens are sucky lubes. Another option is good ol' KY, that has seemed to sway pink.

My other option is to use a minimal amount of Preseed/Conceive Plus, while they are strictly speaking blue sway jellies if you use a small amount they are neutral and won't kill sperm.

The reason why Clomid sways pink, I can all but say 100% is not pH but something to do with hormones. Clomid techically may lower pH since it can make less EWCM, but please read that pH essay because I don't want you to miss the forest for the trees here - don't get so focused on pH that you miss the big picture here - do what has worked for the majority of people the majority of the time (Clomid, diet, exercise, one attempt) because pH stuff has not gotten stellar results, like AT ALL compared to those things.

thanks atomic. I'm on day 12 and will dtd tomorrow night as oh flies out for work at 4am the day after. I'm just hoping and preying the swimmers hang around. its not ideal at all but nothing I can do. I just need my follicles to hurry up and produce the goods!!!!

I'm going to start clomid this coming weekend after recently finding out I have PCOS but I don't think I will be having the trigger injection.

I'd start off doing one attempt at positive OPK for 1-2 months, then try every 4 days for another 1-2 months, then switch to e4d plus one at pos OPK for another 1-2 months. The last month you're on Clomid, do SMEP to ensure conception.

So yes I had clomid, blood tests, internal ultrasounds to track also
, then I had the trigger shot of HCG ... Not everyone needs it but at my clinic they have found that even for people who release their egg on their own, the trigger shot also acts as a booster to kick start the hormones. I also had to go on progesterone Pessaries which I'm almost weaned from.

In regards to ttc - I did one attempt around 2.5 days from Ovualtion. I did shallow(ish) but not too shallow ( wel will call it medium haha) as the month before it literally felt like it all leaked straight out of me and then I was worried it wasn't enough!!!
I didn't check my PH, but I did go back to full vegetarian and super strict for the 2 weeks or so leading up to O as some studies show vegetarians have more girls and I dont really love meant anyway. I also took baby aspirin-lowers ph and also helps with implantation and sticking :)

Different people do different things depending on their needs.

Every 4 days actually does end up being about one attempt in the fertile window. It's just an easy way to do that. The last batch of sperm is dead and gone before the next one shows up, so it ends up being one attempt.

Most people want to start off doing one attempt at positive OPK or with a cutoff and see if it works for them. Then if they don't get pregnant or they can't figure out OPK, they then go to every 4 days.
