I read previously by Tamara that coffee gives the y swimmers a jump start but I've never seen any studies to back it up. Is this true??
When taken by dh of course....

I do not believe this to be true in ANY way, shape or form. There is one study that shows caffeine drunk 1-2 hours before DTD (by DH) can make all sperm swim a bit faster.
IG logic would then claim that since Y sperm are faster (WHICH THEY AREN'T) that then they could continue to swim faster to the egg. But the truth is, BOTH X and Y sperm would get this boost from caff and swim from the harshness of the vagina into the safety of the cervix and beyond. Additionally, sperm don't even really SWIM to the egg. They swim into the cervix and then are mostly carried to the egg by currents in the fluids of the uterus and Fallopian tubes. The sperm taht really DO swim fast are usually dead on arrival anyway and incapable of fertilizing anything because they exhaust their entire food supply swimming and have nothing left to sustain them. So it may be that all you accomplish is making sperm temporarily hyperactive and then dying sooner.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Caffeine is absolutely fine in a pink sway. The reason why it's banned on IG is because people once believed that caffeine had a negative effect on calcium absorption. This was later debunked; caffeine has no appreciable effect on calcium levels or bone mass (you can still read this several places online but trust me, it's not true.) Beyond that, we don't even know that calcium even sways pink, and IF it does, whether we want it to be fully absorbed in our bones or floating around free anyway.
Caffeine lowers overall fertility and since virtually everything that lowers fertility sways pink, it's extremely likely that caff. sways pink. I got my DD with both DH and I drinking by far the most caff we've ever conceived at.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

I read an article some time ago that says that coffee promotes estrogen dominance, acidifies the blood, and depletes the body of B vitamins. I think I might be able to dig it up. Anyhoo, sounds like it might sway pink to me...

The stuff about coffee and estrogen is very confusing and I don't think we can draw any conclusions from any of it. Coffee may lower testosterone, may raise cholesterol - these things are all intertwined and we don't know enough to say for sure.
Nothing acidifies the blood, that's an Internet myth. If your blood gets acidified, you die! (really!)
The levels of coffee you have to consume to deplete your body of any nutrients, is pretty substantial. In fact, coffee may actually raise absorption of some nutrients like B12. Coffee may help a little bit in this department.
What coffee does do is affect blood sugar levels in what may possibly be a pink friendly way.
Basically, I'm not sure how coffee sways, but I do think it sways pink slightly. The Oxford study found no difference in the gender ratio of moms who used caff and moms who didn't.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!
