    What cake would you make!?

My OH is turning 27 the 24th of December! It's gonna be a feast of a day as we also celebrate "traditional" Danish Christmas then.

    The menu so far counts:
Roasted and stuffed duck (apple and prunes, as per tradition)
Rosemary and sage butter Brussels sprouts with bacon
Mandarin roasted vegetables (Parsnips, carrots, etc.)
    Roasted potatoes
    Caramelised potatoes

Ris ala mande (which is a traditional Danish rice pudding with cream, almonds, vanilla and cherry sauce)

But, OH needs to have a cake too! Because of his birth date his birthday was largely ignored growing up as no one wanted to come down at Christmas or didn't want to come two days in a row. So, I always make a huge fuss (incidentally, my traditional Danish Christmas dinner only count about three traditional items, all luckily some of OH favourite foods, so overall the menu contains his favourite food all together)

These are the cakes I've thought about (he says as long as its not black cherry gateau he doesn't mind!):

    - Strawberry & Clotted cream Cheesecake
    - Very Berry Cheesecake
    - Belgian Chocolate & Pear tart
    - Banoffee pie
    - Profiterol 'tower'
    - Belgian chocolate and orange cake

    Which one would you make?

Id make 3 but im a greedy bitch :-) Cant decide between these three but if having a heavy meal something light like the cheesecake maybe better than chocolate ? Maybe make the chocolate for having with a nice cup of tea the next day ?

Strawberry and clotted cream cheesecake. Can I come over? Lolololol. It would be a long trip, but probably worth every second for a bite of that cheesecake! My moms birthday is the 25th and I am making a cheesecake. But not a fancy one because I suck at making fancy stuff.

Think I may opt for both the strawberry and clotted cream cheesecake and the chocolate/orange cake!

What the heck is clotted cream cheese?! I think the Belgian chocolate and pear cake sounds interesting! I've always wanted to try desserts like that, they sound so fancy. The fanciest I get is a tiramisu cake!

Clotted cream is a very thick type of cream - think its from Devonshire, England (?)

Not really sure how to describe it!

Its not really as fancy as it sounds!! Its just basically a chocolate tart with pears in lol xD

I am with you Rosie, I love chocolate and pear combo.

But I personally if I was making it for my DH then I would make his favourite (which in my case is a mocha and walnut cake)

Well thats the thing - he doesn't have a favourite! He just loves cake (except Black Cherry Gateau lol)

I've asked him what he wants and he just says anythings good. When I come with suggestings he says "make all of them" which is NOT gonna happen!!
