I think the idea is to keep your blood sugar levels constant, meaning no spikes or dips so avoiding sugary foods that give you such a rush is advised.

Exactly. Newly conceived babies don't like high blood glucose levels (be they boys or girls). However, XX beans seem to be able to suck up more glucose from the environment than XY do and so they thrive in a lower glucose environment, whereas XY beans are less efficient at sucking up that glucose and need a more steady, middle of the road glucose level to survive. CM changes in its glucose levels during different parts of the menstrual cycle and although we have not proven this scientifically yet, it is very probable that your diet directly affects the glucose levels in your CM. So you MUST eat frequently to keep your sugar levels nice and even, and you have to keep it up even during the 2WW.
You can eat sugar as long as you eat protein along with it. Please read the following -
