Not sure if this is right spot to post this.
I have my 12 week scan on Tuesday, I an sooooo nervous firstly because I just want everything to be healthy and secondly scared to see a boy nub. We dont think we will find out gender because we know at birth we will be thrilled whichever way it goes. I know too much about nubs now and I am just wondering if you always see a nub in a 12 week scan - can I ask the tech to avoid the area or should I just look away from the screen? Worried the tech will print a perfect profile picture with a distinct sticky up boy nub. I am dying to see my beautiful baby but just dont want to see the nub!
I have been having feelings of a girl but can't distingush it from desire and the closer I get to this scan the more I am telling myself to prepare to see a boy nub.

Well when i had my 12 week scan i was only looking at the nub, it wasnt until the end and the tech had a guess that i actually looked at my babys head, obviously i wanted to know the sex and i knew before she told me because i too knew all about nubs. So i think you are just going to have to let your tech know that you dont want to know the sex and if she prints you any pics could you just have head shots. And when she is scanning the baby side on, i would look away.

I have the same situation. I actually decided not to have an NT scan purely because I am too scared of seeing a boy nub. I am going to see my Ob next week though and he will do a quick scan in his room. I have decided that I am just going to say to him that I have decided it is best for me not to know the gender of the baby until it is born, but when we had the 12 week scan for one of my sons the sonographer pointed out the nub and told me about how the angle of the nub can give a 70% indication of gender. (I figure he will give this a lot more credit than just telling him I have read about nubs on an internet forum!) I will tell him I want to look away until he has a shot just with the baby's head in view, but not to let me look at a full profile shot. I feel really nervous about delivering this "speech" and how it will be taken, but I have to do it for my sanity. If I did get an NT scan I was going to give the disc with photos on it to my DH or mum and tell them to take it to their work so I couldnt be tempted to look at the photos in a moment of weakness. If your DH knows nothing about nubs and isnt likely to research it you could ask him to print you off some photos JUST of the baby's head (so long as you haven't read up on skull theory, LOL!) Hugs to you, I have been in turmoil about this for weeks as well - it is SOOO hard. Are you a part of the Due In June / July / August thread? I have just joined it but it seems like a supportive bunch of ladies... might see you in there.

Oh and by the way with DS3 (failed IG sway) I spent the entire scan just staring at the nub area desperately trying to see the nub and saw a big fat NOTHING. The tech would not listen to a word I said about nubs and wouldn't look for it. The disc he gave me had no nub shots. So you don't always see a nub. I figure it would be just my luck though - last time being so desperate to see a nub and seeing nothing... this time being so desperate not to see anything and getting a major boy nub staring me in the face.

Thanks HWP, I was thinking of doing the same thing with the disc - giving it to my husband to take to work!
I dont know what to do, on one hand I want to look but then I know I will feel a bit down if I see a boy nub. I figure you can't change it anyway, why not just get used to the idea if it is blue, but it has been so fun having a bit of hope that it might be pink too - I dont want that taken away just yet. I am so impatient I think I will probably cave and look and just hope that I see a flat nub. I haven't joined the DIG yet, I should head over there. I hope you get your girl!!
