GP's verdict on DH sperm - does this mean less likely to conceive a boy?

    Hi,

When my DH and I were trying for a baby last time (we had a beautiful daughter). My DH went to the GP to have his sperm analysed as we had been trying for a while with no results. ironically just before he got his test results I found out I was pregnant.
Anyway, the GP said that although my DH sperm count was normal, the swimmers seemed fairly slow. Does this mean that he has less male sperm? Im confused. We are going to ttc blue this time and Im wondering if we already have the odds stacked against us?

Or can both male and female be slow? What does it all mean?

    Thanks x

Men create exactly equal amounts of xx and xy sperm, so if your doc said they were all slow that means both xx and xy are slow. What you should do leading up to your attempt is dtd every 2 - 3 days so that your DH is generating lots of new sperm, then when you are just about to ovulate - when you see a + opk you will want to dtd 3 times in 24 hours to get maximum numbers of sperm in there waiting for the egg, it is believed that more sperm = more boys.

low sperm count only sways by a few % anyway, but lifestyle changes can also improve sperm quality

My DH was tested before I fell pregnant this time and had normal everything but low morphology. We have 2 boys already so certainly did not sway pink for us! Good luck x

Unsatisfying answer - we don't know. Men do make 50-50 X and Y sperm but then we do not know exactly what mechanism sways.

I would be sure to take supps for sperm health and also to make sure that your CM is as fertile as possible to enable the swimmers to reach the egg.

I think of the the key factors in swaying for a boy is nice fertile EWCM!! Emphasis on the EW part If you have slow swimmers you definitely want to put the odds in your favor with lots of EWCM!!
