Hi girls I hope you can help me. The question is that can we ovulate before getting a positive opk? I had very sharp ovulating pains and lots of ewcm a couple of day's ago but had a negative opk, but the very next day I started to get a positive opk but my ewcm discharge has dried up but the opk is still positive. Do you girls think I ovulated? I don't chart so I have no idea for sure. We Dtd 2 days before I assume I ovulated have I considerably lowered my chance of conceiving a boy? Sorry for the long post. Hi. In my experience, you need a +tive OPK to ovulate. The OPK detects a hormone called LH. It's the rise of LH that makes you ovulate and burst the egg. Possibly the OPK sticks you were using gave you a false negative. That makes more sense. Hope that helps. If you get a BFN this cycle (and I hope you don't) it's worth charting. It takes 3 secs in the am and you know exactly what your body is doing and when. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. The thing I'm confused about is that I'm still getting a strong positive opk, but I'm sure I have already ovulated because I had lots of pain in my ovarie. Could it mean the pain was nothing? But I also had ewcm which had completely dried. Sorry for tmi.

Some women get O pains before O. Its the folicle swelling up in the ovary. And it is normal for some to get ewcm before the lh surge too. The sperm will be in the right place if you dtd while you have ewcm. Everyone is different so dont try to fit the mold if things are not textbook for you. Best of luck for your attempt.

Hi sugar. You could have a very short LH surge. I know from my body signs that my own LH surge is around the 12 hr mark. I get the EWCM and O pains before my +OPKs too. So for me the + OPKs is confirmation that I got my timing right. I had planned to DTD on the 4 days leading up to O. So I was using my body signs to guess this and then I DTD twice in the same day after getting my +OPKs (am test). By the next day my libido had dropped and EWCM was all dried up.

Yes, you can ovulate without getting a pos OPK (the LH is still there, it's just that it didn't make its way into your pee in a high enough concentration to be detected). BUT, you can also have pains that are O related, that can happen before O, and it's possible to have CM at weird times too. You aren't going to know until/unless AF arrives when you actually Oed.

DTD 2 days before ovulation DOES NOT SWAY PINK. Doing one just attempt - now that's not the greatest for blue but still a lot of people have gotten boys with just one attempt.

If you end up getting BFN next month I recommend 3-5 attempts or even more in the fertile window of o-3 through O day, for blue.

You can have pos OPK for days after ovulation and some of the supps can cause this. It just means that there is still some hormone floating around in your bod that is coming out in your urine. BUT you can also have O pain before ovulation and in fact many people find that their O pain is actually relieved by ovulation.
