    Do you have the red one? It probably says that because you have to get it inside onto the little probe. i just use a q-tip and put my cm on that and put it on the tester. But I buy cheap q-tips so they do not have as much cotton and are not as absorbent and they don't suck up all my cm.

Betas: 10dp5dt 283, 12dp5dt 807, 19dp5dt 8762, 7/21: 7w5d HB 155!

    All anything needs to do is touch the probe to get a reading. I have a hanna PH tester and there are some good discussions on how to use them. Let me link them to you and I'll try to answer any questions you have either way. They are intimidating at first but really easy once you get the hang of it.

    When you are cleaning or calibrating your tester, you should cover the probe which might be about the 1" mark but use a bottle cap for something. Here's a youtube link on calibrating. I don't have this particular PH tester on the video but it's still basically the same.

    Always store your tester in the cap filled w/ storage solution.
