What does DHEA sway? and why?

I think I have read it sways boy but I don't remember. My RE said I could try it before my last 2 IUI's. I have done 4 IUI's now and the 2nd one gave me a BFP but I lost the baby at 6 1/2 weeks. I have two boys and I found out the baby I lost was a girl. I would love to have a daughter but now I am worried the DHEA might be swaying boy. It is giving me BAD acne!

All in all I just want one more healthy baby though of course.

    TIA!

We often use DHEA in HT when ovarian reseve and or quality is poor. DHEA is a precursor to BOTH estrogen and testosterone. If you have PCOS, you should not take it becasue your testosterone levels are already high and could further hurt quality.

Have you had testing done? Why are you doing IUIs? What is the issue? Your eggs or sperm?

I don't have PCOS. I am 36 and have been TTC #3 for three years. I was diagnosed with unexplained secondary sub fertility. My AMH is .94 so I have DOR. I guess DHEA can improve egg quality but I also wanted to know if it sways, just curious.

Personally I would not have you take DHEA unless you are over 40 and/or have had your actual levels of DHEA tested and found to be lacking. Some doctors like to look like they are having you do something to fix things when really they would be better off just counseling patience (esp. where IUI are concerned because it takes time to get pg with IUI)

If you don't need DHEA, you can make matters WORSE tahn if you had done nothing. Your T levels can really go up and even if you don't have PCOS normally, it can make your body act like it has PCOS - not only will your egg quality drop like nuthinbutpink mentions, but your progesterone will drop becos your body makes so much estrogen and testosterone that it uses up all the raw materials doing that and doesn't have anything left for progesterone. No progesterone, no baby.

DHEA we believe to sway blue. Some data indicates that higher levels of estrogen and testosterone sway blue. But above all else my concern is that you're taking something that you may not even need and that can possibly make matters worse in terms of you conceiving.
