Due to this site, I learned about the importance of taking folic acid, but how long should I take it? One of my apps says its just for the first trimester, but I also know that I have a genetic marker that says I don't absorb folic acid from my diet as efficiently as others...so do you think I should be taking it all through the pregnancy? My first appointment with my midwife isn't until the 23rd of this month. Obviously I plan to talk to her about this, but wouldn't mind having an idea before going in.
Edited because autocheck turned folic into frolic, lol.

You can take it through out your pregnancy just to be sure and maybe you can consider upping your B12 as it helps absorb the folic acid better. I'm curious to the genetic marker though, I haven't heard of it. I have had a B12 deficiency and folic acid deficiency, but never found out why. So maybe you can tell me more about this?
