    :(

My husband and I were going to start ttc baby girl this summer, however, I just found out in December that I have breast cancer. I already had the lumpectomy that completely removed my cancer. I am the earliest stage possible (stage 0- contained in the duct). When I met with my surgeon he started to suggest some things: 1.) I will need radiation treatments and meet with the oncologist next week 2.) tamoxifen- an estrogen blocker taken for 5 years. Doctor was concerned that since I am only 31 about my still wanting to expand my family. I told him we were actually looking at trying to conceive this summer. I really dont know what I am asking: I guess is it possible to still even try or should I just stop my family and enjoy my 3 boys!?!?!
Sorry just need to speak to women that understand and hopefully someone can give me some input.

I'm so sorry. You have to get yourself heathy first of course. Before treatment you could freeze your eggs or do an IVF cycles and freeze the embryos waiting to transfer until after treatment. You can freeze them and do IVF with PGD for gender.

Cancer at 31 is nothing to play around with. Focus on you right now.

I plan on taking time to make sure I am healthy for my 3 little guys...trust me! I just was wondering down the line what are my chances I guess...maybe this is stuff I should ask the oncologist....also, does insurance work with ivf/pgd?

Firstly its horrible you have to go through this and change your life around. Secondly talk to your oncologist about this when you see him/her.
Hopefully you can have a baby later on without it impacting on your health.
    Best wishes!
    Hoping for a pink rainbow!

I agree with the getting your eggs frozen and doing ivf later down the road. Radiation I think can affect eggs and your ability to get pregnant. I do know some insurances cover some of the ivf costs but not the pgd part.

So sorry this is happening to you, wishing you all the best with your journey.

    Big hugs!!!!!!!!!!
My sister's very good friend was dx with breast cancer (very early stage, just like you) at 28 years old when her first son was a toddler. She wanted to have more children and I believe she did not have to do radiation or chemo but instead may have opted for more radical surgery. She went on to conceive another baby boy a couple of years later.
If your cancer was so early, I don't understand the need for radiation? I say get a 2nd opinion before you go forward with the radiation etc. There is nothing wrong with trying to preserve your fertility. Maybe also make an appt with an RE (reproductive endo) to see what your options are. If you ABSOLUTELY have to have radiation, see if you can do IVF and have some embryos frozen (freezing eggs is sort of pointless as they usually do not survive the freezing process). I wish you only the best and BIG HUGS from me...breast cancer runs in my family (both grandmothers and my mom is pending a dx) so I have some 2nd hand experience.
