How often should we BD? I read the thread under TTC girl best practices. Where is the data that shows men who abstain too long have increased birth defects? How often should we bd to maximize chances for a healthy girl?

Recently, atomic has been advising that it's not really frequency that is swaying it's number of attempts. She suggests 1 attempt at +opk or 1 attempt every 4 days if you'd like (same concept. With bd once every 4 days, you'd have only one attempt in fertile window). If you want to abstain or frequent release then that's fine but really necessary

So, only being able to squeeze in BD once a week is fine. That's good news. Why the 1 attempt at pos opk? What's the reasoning behind that?

Yes mam it's been getting great results. I'm sure atomic or another member will chime in and be more specific and informative but from my understanding , lower amount of sperm waiting to fertilize the egg seems to sway girl. I don't think we are totally certain why this is. If you use opks it's best to have one attempt at +opk. This is usually 24-36 hours before ovulation which is best timing for conception to occurring . there are many forums on this subject. I'm not sure if you already know this but if you scroll down on this page there's links to other forums that discuss this subject as well .

The one attempt typically means less semen in your vj and boys sperm *seem* like they like that higher ph. There's also less sperm overall waiting for the egg which seems to sway pink. Since you're only fertile for about 4 days if you DTD once every 4 days you should naturally have one attempt in your fertile window. Bd frequency doesn't seem to sway. Take it from me-- my failed sway in2012 we DTD 1-2 trimes a day for nearly a month and still got an Opposite.

We chose abstaining with one attempt at opk . FR was too much for him on a fake rum through.
I am not ready to give that up yet for once every 4 days. I would have him relase outside every 4 days though then bd once with me away

I have recently revised my opinion on frequency because the results we were seeing did not justify the trouble and effort it causes. I have not had time to go through and revise those essays just yet but my new way of thinking is to drop frequency but keep one attempt, because the one attempt is getting great results while the frequency seems to be doing nothing but making conception more difficult.

That having been said I htink most people want to give it at least one month trying everything and want to start off with both frequency and one attempt.

We don't know why, just that it's getting by far better and more consistent results than anything having to do with frequency/pH etc.

Low sperm numbers seem to sway pink for reasons we do not totally understand but every study bar none where men had lower sperm count and quality, they had more daughters (even things that were very different from each other.)

I've suspected since the very beginning that there is some type of communication between sperm and that this may be swaying in some way. So my guess is that when there aren't a lot of sperm on scene, something occurs that causes the X sperm to capacitate and be ready to fertilize the egg while the Y sperm stay dormant or die. And/or it may be that something about the slightly different head shape of X vs. Y sperm confers a benefit when fewer sperm are at the egg.
