    C-section question

Hi Girls! So just a question - how many c-sections have you had? This will be my 3rd and DH and I have decided that we are not closing any doors and may go for #4 in a few years. I know that there is more of a risk with every c-section but would/could that prevent me from having another baby?

Your doctor should tell you during the section how your uterus is looking ad unless there is any extreme thinness where he/she thinks you may be facing a rupture with another pregnancy, number 4 should be fine. That 18 kids and counting lady has done it 18/19 time and her uterus still holds up! Maybe she didn't do sections, but still a lot of wear and tear!

    Can you try a v-back?

Yes, the doctor will let you know, just be sure to ask! I have only had 1 section...my first baby. I went on to do VBACs so I could have more kids as my doctor suggested only 3 sections max but that is only a recommendation, not an order of course. I know he has patients he did 5 or 6 sections on. It does get risky though!

Mrs Duggar has had I think 2 or 3 sections, she does Vbacs after them. I am slightly confused on how she is able to do this but whatever! haha

You could ask about a VBAC but they generally don't like women trying those after 2 sections, they prefer only one but it is a case by case situation of course!

I achieved a VBA2C in December with ds3. My consultant supported my decision as I'd never laboured before. He then delivered my son via forceps as he was the consultant on duty that night! In the UK they lead women to believe that VBA2C are too risky but there's evidence to show otherwise as each c-section puts the risk onto a subsequent pregnancy. Why did you have c-sections before? Have you considered a VBA2C? In the UK they talk about 'allowing a trial of labour' but it's a load of crap IMHO. It's a topic close to my heart & no-one can allow you to try, you don't need permission as it's your body. I keep meaning to post my birth story, I will try to do that this week! Btw, I'd love more children hence my determination to avoid a c-section!

I've just had my 4th C-section (all 3 DS's were breach). Same Ob delivered all 3 and he actually mentioned whilst he was stitching me up after number 3 that everything looked good, and there would be no probs if I wanted to go for number 4 (he knew I'd really wanted a DD 3rd time). This section definitely took longer - both going in and stitching up - I was probably in theatre for about an hour and a quarter and he said he was going slowly so as not to cause unnecessary bleeding. The pain afterwards was much worse I think. However, now almost two weeks later I'm feeling ok, still sore, but healing. Def have a word with your ob before the section and ask him to give you an honest opinion afterwards whether or not he thinks there would be a prob if you do decide to go for number 4. Mine even said to me this time that if ever I did want 5, he'd be happy to deliver (but I'm well and truly done!) Good luck with number 3 xx

There is one girl who was on here a while who had 5 and all went well but then on the 6th she did have some pretty major complications (mom and baby both were fine but just very high risk and scary - she did get her DG though). I don't think she comes on here any more.

Thanks girls! My daughter was an emergency C-section, after laboring for 22 hours and I had planned a vbac w/ my son but he was too big & broad. This time, I've been told that I do not have an option - I have to have a C-section, which is fine w/ me, I know what to expect and my recovery last time was pretty easy. I just want another baby too and want to be able to have another one safely. I will definitely talk to the doctor! Thanks again!

hi only just spotted this, i had two c-sections followed by a vba2c i had to really push for it as the consultant hadnt had much experience with trying after 2 but he agreed in the end to let me try, i also asked how many sections i was allowed and he told me there isnt a limit!
