    Sugar and swaying?

Just wondering where you stand on this?

Too Much Sugar Kills Your Sex Life!

Basically it states that sugar inhibits some protein thingummy which causes higher testosterone and oestrogen? Is sugar something to consider as part of a gs diet or due to the health issues it can cause is it best to steer clear? Xx

Ohhhh, interesting. I thought ++sugar was Ok because initially it raises your blood sugar but then it crashes. But this idea is new to me I'll be interested to hear what others have to say!

I tend to agree with that theory and I bet it's part of why sugar sways. I totally upped my sugar consumption for my pink sway!

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

But isn't the article saying the opposite of sugar swaying?

The article states: "Too little SHBG protein means your body will produce too much testosterone and estrogen..."

If eating too much sugar causes your SHBG protein production to shut down and then cause a rise of testosterone and estrogen (both which sway blue), doesn't that mean that the study is showing that eating too much sugar will sway blue by causing the increase in testosterone and estrogen?
    Mom to (2013)

You're right...I totally misread. I see now what you meant. Yes, THAT much sugar, leading to IR and PCOS, probably does sway blue. The key is EXCESS sugar. You only make & store fat when you are consuming more than your body can burn. On a calorie restricted diet like the LE, that won't happen. The LE diet gets most of its calories from carbs, yes, but even on a very high carb diet, if you aren't over eating, you won't run into the problems of excess sugar.

Hmmm interesting - my blood test showed I am too high in SHBG so if that means testosterone is lowered I guess something is working - but maybe too much. I am probably eating less sugar than before but only because I am eating fewer calories than before.

We have animal studies that show a higher carb (and sugar is a carb) diet sways pink. It also can lower blood sugar for many of us; while I know that seems counterintuitive when you eat sugar your body releases insulin to deal with it, and the 'blood sugar crash' is actually when your blood sugar drops really low after having eaten sugar. So it may sway pink in a couple ways.

Anyone who does not have PCOS and IR can include sugar in their pink sway diet and the crash and burn diet is based on this. IF you do have PCOS or IR you should not do sugar because it can raise your blood sugar and testosterone (becasue your body is not sensitive to insulin, so you don't have the blood sugar crash that others experience)

There is no reliable evidence that levels of blood testosterone or estrogen in and of themselves sway gender. So I really hate to see you guys getting so focused in on "testosterone" when the fact of the matter is we have no idea if that is even swaying, and if it is, whether it's levels in your blood or some other thing entirely.
