Nub different from 18 weeks ??

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and i've come for help !
At our NT scan at 12 weeks we got what i thought was a clear "girl" image for nub... i couldn't find the best picture, but it was absolutely parallel to the spine... So all those weeks we were thinking we were having a girl and our 3yo daughter was so thrilled ! Now at 18.5 weeks, we have a (?) clear image of a baby boy.. ! Just want your opinions as i am quite shocked and confused right now.. thinking of going for a 3D to confirm, i guess part of me doesn't want to believe it as i have to admit, i can't help feeling a little disappointed... Definitely looks like a baby boy in that second image. At 12 weeks boys & girls still look very similar, and a seemingly flat nub can still rise & change shape. I would never recommend depending on a nub shot UNLESS it were at 13w (both GA and by measurement) and a very clear shot, or perhaps between 12-13w but very boyish (stacked & angled looking). Even then i would not depend completely on a nub shot or tell other people. Unfortunately since boys begin the same as girls, a supposed girl at 12w can always 'turn into' a boy later.

I hope you come to terms with this surprise and I'm sorry you are feeling disappointed. Had you hoped for a girl from the start or had you just become accustomed to the idea of a second girl?

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I agree with you both.. and as you mentioned, from starting to TTC until the 12 weeks, we really didn't have much of a preference... i guess already having a girl made it "easier" in my mind.. and then we just got accustomed to the idea.. so i think we are more shocked than disappointed really...i'm sure we'll come around to the idea - still have loads of time ! Should really be thankful our little baby seems healthy !

Def boy, in both I think!
Boys are awesome and 1 of each, although you may not think this now will probably save you some heartache later when maybe you may think you're missing something with 2 of a kind although not everyone is like that but there's lots on this site lol

12 weeks is not accurate for gender determination. 18 weeks is. Congrats on a baby boy.
