    Maintaining diet through Christmas?

I would like to start ttc jan 16 id like to sum for a sept/oct baby this time (I've fallen preg both times 1t time before) although I know it can take longer when ttc a girl but ive started sooner for this reason in the past and fell 1st time! anyway my question I think it would be extreamly hard to stick to the diet all through Christmas, going to works Christmas doo's been surrounded by lovely food all the time, I really don't want to mess it up an end up cheating, would you say it's best to wait untill a few months after Christmas to ttc so I don't end up eating all the wrong foods? I would of likes an autumn baby but baby been a girl is more important. And would mean been patient an waiting a few months longer! As I wouldn't ttc till about April after I've been on the diet a few months and had a good run at it. What would you do?

In thinking maybe go on generally diet maybe weight watchers now, I'm about 166lb so have plenty to loose! And aim to loose about 20-28 lb over the next yr, i always loose slowly an enjoy holiday an Christmas in between, so loose that in the next yr or so an maybe maintain at that and then start le diet about 3 months before ttc an hopefully loose another 14lb or so? That would bring me to lowest ever weight. it's either that or wait untill closer an try an loose it all closer to say 6 months before and really stick to it rarther than doin it slowly cassualy to have a bigger impact on my body. I don't know what to do for the best

I came off BCP on 10th January this year to TTC. I started the diet at the beginning of October and I was also worried about Christmas but I didn't let it spoil my fun and I ate and drank as I wanted whilst being mindful not to overdo it like I normally do. It took me 6 months to conceive so it wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Pretty sure I remember atomic saying last year that there would have been times where our ancestors found an antelope and feasted for a week so we needn't worry about Christmas if we are being careful the rest of the time.

Ahh that's the sort of thing I was thinking but didnt know if it was ok, I'm so scared I don't want to do anything that will hurt my attempt. Thank you x

You can definitely have cheat days here and there on the diet and honestly I've been to several parties on LE and didn't find it THAT difficult. Normally I'm a huge grazer and eat everything in site at parties, but on LE I would just make an effort to fill a small plate with 1 of each of the veggie appetizers (usually parties don't have many veggie options where I'm from, so usually left me with not much food!), have 2 glasses of wine and call it a night. On Christmas day if it was me I'd probably take a day off the diet and eat a little bit of whatever I wanted.

As far as when to lose the weight. How tall are you? I'd be wary of starting the diet too soon because although it sounds like a lot of weight to lose, it's really not. I've not been THAT strict with LE (I have plenty of cheats!), and I lost 26 lbs in 4 months. I only had 25-30 lbs MAX to lose (sounds similar to your situation) and after 4 months was approaching the bottom of where I was comfortable losing. If it was me I'd focus on maintaining my weight between now and August/September of next year and plan on going on LE at that time.

Yes exactly. It's your overall diet and environment and condition that sway. There have always been festivals and feast days and if one meal or series of meals was enough to sway gender, we'd simply do diet for a day or a week.

Remember, there ARE NO "wrong" or bad foods. There are no magic foods.

So, you go to the party and try to make the best choice and if it's a cheat (meaning, anything that you think you shouldn't be eating) then that is fine! You just do it, enjoy it, then let it go with no more thought than that. Don't dwell on it and obsess over it, because cheating is not only allowed, but encouraged on LE Diet for sanity, practicality, and also to be sure you are getting enough nutrients.

Just use portion control - and be strict when it's not a special day.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

I've started a loose diet already, with less meat and portion control. I plan on getting stricter as we get closer to December when I go full LE and likely vegetarian too. I plan to start ttc in March. I am going to enjoy the holidays, but on a more moderate scale than I normally would. I'm a big girl, at around 220 and have plenty to lose, if I got close to or under my first conception weight of 195 I'd be happy.
