    Sinus Infection

I apparently have a sinus infection as well. I went to the dentist because I had throbbing pain and wasn't sure if it was a tooth issue or sinus issue. It was not tooth related and my dentist prescribed Cipro 500mg antibiotic. I am debating taking it. I said if I wasn't feeling better today I would take it but it seems like such a strong one. Anyone know anything about it? I don't think it is too safe to take while pregnant, although I am sure I have no chance of pregnancy this month, I am still nursing.

Also, can a sinus infection affect hormones or ovulation? I am just trying to figure out this cycle too. On Thirsday I started getting really sick, that is when I went to the RE and my temp shot up that morning like I ovulated but had no other signs. Since then my temp has gone down so it doesn't look like I ovulated. I will link my chart, Open circle today because I tempted a half hour early.

I have been on Cipro several times and never had it affect temps or O. I don't think it's a big deal in terms of swaying, either. Definitely take it if you need it, sinus infections can be damaging if left untreated. I hope you feel better soon, hugs.

    My Ovulation Chart
currently TTC, Cycle #16 since last BFP

TTC #1 - swaying pink on & off since Nov 2013 - hoping for a girl first but excited for either!

Dec 2001 - May 2006 : 5 early abortions of healthy singletons (3 medical @5w, 2 surgical @8w, last 4 pregnancies conceived with late DH, all conceived while TTA/on birth control)
Mar 2012: miscarried B/G twins @5w (conceived 2 cycles after remověng Paraguard copper IUD while NTNP), one twin was ovarian ectopic

Me: 34, widowed, late O + short LP, normal-good hormone levels excepting undetectable testosterone, seeking a known sperm donor/life partner
My sway: vegetarian LE for over 28w, skipping breakfast, fibre (ground psyllium husks) with/before/between meals, physically inactive, drama avoidance, ocassional minimal YesBaby lube as needed, alternate cycles on low dose Clomid, double shot lattes (with meals)
Past sway tactics I've dropped (in order): Vitex, Sudafed, antihistamines, intermittent fasting, one attempt per cycle at positive OPK, one attempt in fertile period

    any illness can delay ovulation

I would be wary without a firm diagnosis from a doctor (I'm not dissing the dentist, just that sinus infections is often a 'go-to' diagnosis and there cna be other things that cause head/face pain) I was told once I had a sinus infection with no other symptom aside from intense pain (by a doctor who did not use any diagnostic method to come up with the diagnosis) and it turned out I had an inflammation in my optic nerve that could have made me go blind.

*facepalm* Yes, illness itself can absolutely delay O and is notorious for doing so. And of course a fever due to infection can throw off your temps.

It is true that antibiotics are often prescribed unnecessarily...what exactly are your symptoms? If you have a lot of snot, what colour is it?

I like my dentist and I actually had to see him again for something else so I decided to go in and check it wasn't a tooth issue, but I am not so quick to suggest a sinus infection considering he only banged on my tooth to see if it hurt! LOL Although due to the LE diet I am sure my immune system is not up to par ya know. I have mainly stuffy nose big time, headache and mostly clear when I blow but sometimes yellowish, not green.

Yeah I didn't mean to dismiss your dentist (honestly, in my case I got way better quality of care and a legit diagnosis from the ophthamologist than from the 2 "actual" doctors I saw). Just didn't realize you were actually having symptoms - in my case I had nothing but a piercing pain in my eyeball and they were like, oh ya that's totally a sinus infection. :/

Yes I am definitely sick, have been since Wednesday but am not totally convinced it is an actual infection that need antibiotics.
I wonder if my body geared up to O but didn't. It is just so strange that she did not see any growing follicles. She only said well, I don't see anything going on in your ovaries so she assumed that I ovulated and my temp did go up that morning (had bad sleep the night before) but has been low since.
