Hi everyone, this is my first post here, but I've been lurking around for some time reading post in these amazing forums. I have one child with my husband, a girl, and she's 7 now, we're ready to try again and go for a boy, as it could be our last try for a child. The gender doesn't matter to me much, I just want a boy for my beloved husband.
8 years ago when TTC to get my daughter, we followed the shettles method; dtd 2-3 days before O and got our girl, and I took vitex because of irregular cycles--PCOS. I never heard of dieting, ph or anything else related.
I read here that people are bd right after AF every 2-4 days vs the one time shot method close to O. I'm on CD 13 now and O'd last cycle on CD 22 or 23, but we hadn't DTD dis cycle yet.
I have over a week before I expect to O and wanted to know what days should we dtd to sway for a boy? I'm nervous bbd 2-3 days from O because we got our girl like that, but I do wanna do whatever will increase our chances.
I've TRIED the HE diet for 5-6 weeks, but I tend to gain weight too easily and I learned from November through December when I gained nearly 10 pounds, O was weeks late.
I have been taking fish oil, vitamins including folic acid for about 2 months. I also been drinking lemon water, baking soda water, eating bananas, potatoes, salty foods, sea salt water, certain veggies and fruit and in general higher calories.
Is there anything else that's simple we can do in a week to increase our changes? O day could be delayed if I'm stressed or gain weight etc.
Do you think we have a good chance for a boy? even though I didn't do the HE diet perfectly?
oh about bbd every 2-4 days from AF: isn't the cm hostile right after AF, how could that help in conceiving a boy? dtd so early after AF?
Thanks

Please read this http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...le-timing.html the Shettles method wouldn't have swayed for your DD please don't rely on it to get your DS. There were other factors in play to get your daughter. If you DTD just once that's getting great results, vitex, if you were exercising a lot etc.
With a boysway multiple attempts are getting great results you're probably best getting lots of attempts in once you get a positive opk.
I'm sure others will be able to give more advice then me with regards to if the length of time you've been on diet etc will help but I didn't want to read and run and not let you know about the link above.
Welcome to this site it's invaluable xgorgeous DS1
gorgeous DS2
Praying and hopefully soon swaying for a precious pink princess to further complete our family

I DTD lots and got my boy straight away, I think the point of DTD from O is to ensure there is always lots of sperm there waiting for the egg and by doing it often DH will be producing more healthy sperm to keep up with the regular demand for it? I think that's why anyway
good luck! X

Thanks foxymrsg for the link. I have to admit, those are some really interesting facts in that article. That kicks out the false beliefs of the timing method. It's all making sense now. Good to know the truth and see the whole picture, rather than scratching my eye balls out.

I have an alternate diet here (5 from the top) that has a variant for blue swayers with PCOS http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gend...rt-3-pcos.html
I don't WANT blue swayers with PCOS to gain weight for the exact reason you just mentioned. You will need to change it up on the diet and also do some exercise - I would have you do cardio and weights both but just be careful not to overdo. The best option would be an exercise tape like Taebo or The Firm where they use weights and cardio together.
I would have you drop the salty stuff and baking soda water. WE have dropped those things totally and are getting equal if not better results without them. I would also have you drop potatoes, there is nothing magically boy-producing about them and they can really make you gain weight fast.
From here till O, I would have you up intake of brightly colored fruits and veg, protein and (small amounts) of carbs at every meal and snack. I would not really up snacking like some do, I think that 3 meals a day and 1 or 2 snacks is plenty for you. I would aim for 2000-2200 cals, no more than that and if you gain at that level, drop back to 1800-2000.
There are a couple reasons why we start the BD right after AF. Firstly, exposure to the hormones in your husband's semen may help to make you more boy-friendly. Secondly, having hubby release every 2-4 days helps make plenty of healthy sperm, and plenty of healthy sperm tends to sway blue for reasons we can only guess at. And actually BDing with a real live woman may help him make even more/better sperm and could possibly aslo help raise both of your T levels.
Someone already posted the Trouble With Timing essay but we have been getting great results by letting go on timing and also much, much quicker BFP. You need to get pregnant fast in case the diet makes your PCOS act up so I strongly urge you to let go of the Shettles timing - back on Ingender it was taking blue swayers 8-12 months to get pregnant and that is unacceptible to me. We want all our blue swayers pg as quickly as possible, preferably within 3 months.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

We have compared notes repeatedly and found that the vast majority of we who have mostly boys DTD pretty regularly. My hub and I have always gone every other or every couple days and we always DTD inside except around O, meaning I had plenty of exposure to his hormones. 4 boys over 2 years doing that.
The only time we ever got pg when we weren't DTD like that, it was late at night between O-1 and O Day, one shot, perfect Shettles attempt - girl.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Yes dove_love , it does makes sense to have much sperm in storage waiting for the egg to arrive. I think I have gotten over my fears of dtd multiple times before O for a boy.
What about the hostile cm that's present before the watery and ewcm shows up? Won't the y sperm have a hard time surviving in that, never even making it pass the cervix so it could wait for the egg?
Won't there be more X sperm stored up waiting, before the the ewcm is produced for the Y sperm?
Why is it not best to wait til the watery/ewcm show up before trying for a boy? which is still days before O.
Just trying to understand since ewcm/watery is best for the Y and X can also survive in creamy cm right?

The idea that X and Y sperm live different amoutns of time and can survive only in different types of CM has been debunked, theres more about that here.

How frustrating dealing with PCOS and dieting. I believe I could have just o'd yesterday, as my temp spiked high this morning ., but it's only one high temp, will know for sure in a few days.
I noticed I hardly have any cm at all throughout my cycles and can't really tell if ovulation is near or not unless I take vitex. Without vitex it's nearly impossible for me to predict it, and most of my cycles are long and wacky up to 51 days long.
This cycle I took OPKs and it was negatives, and I was dry, so we didn't dtd in nearly a week, and due to interruptions etc, then my cervix went from low to high, and got soft all in one day (yesterday) and temp spiked this morning. The cervix has always done this before O. but not all in one day.
Anyway, this is stressing me out and my hubby was really excited about ttc cycle cycle since we've been chasing the egg for 6 months but PCOS throws us off every time, and I gain weight easily.
Hubby wants me to try taking something that will help balance my hormones long enough to conceive, but all I can think of is vitex since I tried it and got pregnant the next month after taking it. I'm just concerned about it swaying pink, as I read somewhere it does. It produces buckets of ewcm as well and O'd earlier.
How does it sway pink? and will we have a chance for a boy on vitex at all?
If not, can you suggest something else? I read soy isoflavones works good, but bad for PCOS. Anything else?
