Why are boy nubs all so different from each other?

Hey ladies! Just pondering nubs until my anatomy scan. After seeing so many nubs on the internet, I'm wondering, why do boy nubs differ so much? Girls tend to be all similar: close to the bottom, straight out, some with a fork.

But boys: some are little stacked blobs, some are long straight lines with a bump at the end, some look like hockey sticks or pipes, some stick straight up and some are pretty close to parallel. What the heck? I thought girls were supposed to have the complicated anatomy! Haha.

But here are some examples of what I mean with the different "types":

Well, I'm not sure that last one is actually a nub.

Look at any other anatomical part on an ultrasound and you will see a lot of variation. Couple that with the fact that even a day or two different gestation means a different level of development on the winkie and it isn't surprising that you see slightly different shapes and sizes going on.

Girls are more similar because remember, all babies start out with "girl stuff" and so nothing has to change. Boys go thru dramatic changes as ovaries move down and become testes, the clitoris becomes a penis under the influence of testosterone which only starts to occur during the 10-11th week and takes a few weeks to complete the process.

I guess cos depending on stage of development there may be 2 parts- penis and scrotum but if early these may not be 2 distinct parts yet.

So much smarts in here, ladies!

And it's about 100 times more adorable when we call it a winkie.
