I have a friend who is planning to go to a doctor who she says has been successful in helping people women get their desired genders. Her sister went to him to have a girl and it "worked". I'm assuming he's relying on the shettles method? Basically he monitors when you ovulate by ultrasound and tells you what day to have sex for whatever gender. Supposedly he has been successful for a number of people. Not sure what my question is here, lol. Maybe I just want confirmation that this isn't actually a real method of swaying/choosing gender and I shouldn't try it? I was thinking maybe the reason her sister got a girl was more to do with her one attempt? (Along with maybe a million other things, who knows)

It's the one attempt and not the timing because studies actually found about 50-50 boys and girls conceived every day of the cycle.
The only benefit that I can see is that having ultrasound monitoring of ovulation will help you have a well timed attempt instead of the guesswork involved with OPK strips, so you could have your one attempt at the point in time where you are likely to get pregnant from one attempt. But the whole thing boils down to the expense involved, I certainly wouldn't pay a lot of money for it.!!! Questions??Check out the NEW and improved Complete Index !!!

Which wouldn't help for swaying boy though? Which is what both my friend and I would want. This doctor claims he can help sway boy as well. Thanks for your input!

Oh I'm sorry, I read the title of this and stopped at the word "girl" LOL
I really, really advise against anything Shettles related for TTC a boy. We have studies (unlike Shettles, done with modern technology to pinpoint ovulation) that show very clearly the 50-50 genders conceived every single day of the fertile period and given that we are getting 70-75% for a GIRL with one attempt regardless of day of attempt, I just can't advise going that route.
I was thinking about this the other day and realising I couldn't come up with a single person IRL who Shettles had worked for to TTC a boy. I do know some people who think they got a girl from Shettles but I couldn't think of anyone IRL who tried Shettles for a boy and got one (I do know some people who got opposites with Shettles for a boy). I just really, really think we are going the right way with the 3-5 attempts and I want you guys to continue with that.Last edited by atomic sagebrush; September 21st, 2015 at 03:39 PM.

Ok perfect! That's what I expected to hear and planned on doing
. Basically wanted to confirm that I was right in my suspicions that it is not possible for this method to actually sway boy and I don't need to spend lots of money on it, hehe.
