Since I posted here months ago, DH and I have been stressed trying to conceive. We been trying since last year in August, but I naturally have very long cycles, like up to 53-75 days, and O from 35-61.
The problem is our clock is ticking, and he's 45 years old, and I'm 35. Our daughter is 7 years old and we want a boy now, especially DH, it could b our last child. I was taking vitex when I conceived her and wasn't eating much, always skipped breakfast too, but I didn't know anything about vitex and swaying then.
Since we wanna conceive as soon as possible, I started taking Soy Is because I was reading it can shorten cycles and bring forward ovulation. Since I wasn't getting pregnant naturally and stopped taking vitex, I took Soy Is my last two cycles and O'd the first month on CD26 and second cycle CD18 (last cycle).
I had a chemical pregnancy both cycles around the same dpo. BFP got super faint 14dpo and I started bleeding a couple days after on both cycles. Last cycle my bbt dropped to the coverline for 5 days and then the bleeding started. I thought it COULD be linked to soy, lack of progesterone and too much estrogen. dunno.
I been mostly on the HE diet on and off for months but gained weight I didn't need. But for the last few weeks I've been on it more steadily, drinking green tea, lemon water throughout the day. Eating whole grain cereal every morning, bananas, nuts, eggs and cheese and peanut butter for snacks. Salad with tomatoes, avocado and chicken for lunch and red meat for dinner with pasta, potatoes, raw garlic, juice and green smoothies. I'm also taking One a Day Vitamins, and 2000mcg folic acid.
We didn't wanna try soy again because of the CPs. So we figure we may end up with no baby at all if we don't try vitex again. I started vitex this cycle during AF, today I'm on cd18. We decided we will take the chance of getting a girl with vitex rather than getting no baby at all, so I call it a PARTIAL blue sway, because I know vitex is a strong sway for pink.
Not to say that vitex is a magic bullet, but my bbts seem higher after O with it. It could be what we have left to do in such a short time span. We don't wanna see a doctor right now, only until we have 3 CPs in a row at least.
With Soy I ovulated super early, but afraid I will have a miscarriage around 16/17 dpo again. I was wondering should I try soy again next month, or make an attempt this cycle (haven't O'd yet) while on vitex? Other words, will the vitex just cancel out my diet efforts, and weight gain for a boy sway? I know it can go either way. I wonder what our chances are, though I'm leaning towards trying soy again.

I would stay away from vitex, it really seems to lower odds of conception for a lot of people. If you haven't already I would stop vitex now as it has completely stopped O for several people.
I doubt the soy caused the chemicals, and if it's helping I'd consider trying it again. TEh other option would be to see a doctor and get Clomid. It sways a bit pink but if you're overall swaying blue then that can completely counteract it. I believe it to be much more effective than soy and will help with those long cycles.!!! Agree SMEP, let me know if DH can't manage that as we have other options that are less taxing on hubby
I'd give DH a men's over 50 vitamin if he's not on one already
preseed if you don't have much EWCM

Or can you get Femara? I think it's recommended over Clomid for older mums...

Oh I believe your right about vitex stopping ovulation. It could be possible I was TRYING to O a couple days ago with high, softer cervix, watery and ewcm cm since cd 12, but it was switching between creamy and fertile cm in the same day, as though I was trying to O but couldn't. I guess that explains why I didn't and still hadn't yet. I stopped vitex yesterday.
Ok I'm gonna start soy again next cycle. I was reading that soy causes excess estrogen and I always thought I had too much estrogen, explaining my long cycles. Should I worry about low progesterone and high estrogen after O?
Should I take LOW doses of soy to avoid estrogen dominance? or what dose to take?
and which days should I take it?
I know it's a ton of questions. I really do appreciate it.

Thanks for pointing that out. I see it's especially better for women with PCOS too. I wonder if I have PCOS, as I was told by a doctor years ago I had it, but recently another doctor says I don't have it, only one cyst on my right ovary. If soy doesn't keep me ovulating early, and keep hormones regular generally, I'll ask doctor about Femara.

I get tons of ewcm with soy. DH doesn't take any vitamins right now, but agreed to take them. Should he be eating a certain diet too?
About the SMEP. We tried before to BD EOD but couldn't quite succeed well with BDing that often for too long, but we do plan to find a way to BD at least 2 days in a row, the day before O and day of O if those are the best days. Is every 3 days ok? after AF until pos OPK?Last edited by Makayla55; November 14th, 2015 at 07:43 AM.
