    No period but brown discharge

I didn’t ovulate this cycle and as a result I’m currently on CD 32 (i normally have a 24/25 day cycle). I have started spotting brown blood that is very light. This probably isn’t a proper period considering I didn’t ovulate. How do I track this? Do I assume it’s the start of a new cycle or wait until my next period and red blood?

Huge apologies for the TMI nature of this post [emoji12]!

LOL this is a TMI free zone.

I'm sorry if I should know this already but why do you think you didn't ovulate? I just want to be sure I'm on the same page with everything going on.

We can't tell just yet if this is AF (or a breakthrough bleed) starting or if it's some other thing like midcycle spotting, LP spotting, or what. Don't assume anything just yet. If it's AF it will get rolling soon I bet! If it goes away we may want to get you in to see a doc and find out where you are in the cycle.

Anyway I can be more help with more info.

I have a clear blue advanced fertility monitor that I have been using since January. It has detected ovulation every month around CD 14/15 but ovulation was not detected last month even though I used about 19 tests! I thought if it was an anovulatory cycle it might explain why my period is 8 days late.
This afternoon I started heavily bleeding and have horrendous cramps. Can I assume that this is my period or will it be bleeding caused by something else?

Yes, this is your period unless you got a positive pregnancy test.

It sounds to me like you did ovulate and it was just later than you thought. Either you stopped testing too soon or your urine was dilute and the tests just missed the surge (which still happened, just didn't come out detectably in your urine)

Anovulatory cycles are not that common. If you get AF, which it sounds like to me you are, and you're still in a normal cycle timeline (which you are - 8 days "late" is only one day beyond a totally normal cycle since it's normal for many to O on CD 14-21) the odds are very, very high that you ovulated. Most of the time, not always, but most of the time, when you have anovulatory cycles they are either very short or very long and by "very" I mean 2-3 months or even more. It's safe to assume that for most people, most months, getting AF within 2-3 weeks of when she was supposed to arrive indicates ovulation has occured, just not on CD 14, but later on.

Oh and I meant to ask you this in the prev. post but I got interrupted - can you think back about 14 days?? Were there any signs of ovulation at that time??

I’ve felt quite crampy all cycle so I suppose I ovulated late or it wasn’t detected. My clear blue machine asks me to test with the first urine of the day which for me is normally 6.00am. Should I be testing later on in the day instead?

I know the Clearblues always say FMU but all other OPK have you test after lunch. You may want to try that instead but you'll have to limit water for a couple hours before testing.
